  • In this video, we detail the products we use to tow our Jeep Wrangler with our 2021 Winnebago Navion 24D. Over the past year, we have towed over 18k miles. We've driven from California to Washington; across the cascades and down the East coast to Florida. We opted to purchase everything and do all the installations ourself. The process was fairly simple with the most labor intensive portion being the Base Plate (removal of front bumper required).
    To reduce total weight, we tow with all house tanks empty (fresh, grey & black). We try to make sure the Jeep has no more than a half tank of gas.
    Below are the products we mentioned.

    Thanks for the video. We are pulling a travel trailer at the moment but are considering going to a small class C with a toad. As it is now I have to do almost 100% of the driving and that wasn't ideal when I got sick on a recent trip.

    Your break away cable is installed incorrectly. If your tow bar disconnects from your tow vehicle while in tow, the RVI brake system will not engage and slow the Jeep down. As installed the break away system is usless. You need to install the break away cable to your tow vehicle.

      💯 factual! Somehow I overlooked that for 1.5 years. We sold the rig but will do better next time around. Thanks again

    Helpful! We are going to take our first trip without the toad, but I think we will also want to have a toad, specifically a jeep. We were looking for 2 door variant for less weight... it's just me and my boys.

      We started out with a 2dr but got tired of TJ climbing over. If it was just us, we would get one back. You won’t regret having a toad. We love parking the rig and using the Jeep to get around. Any idea where to on your first trip?

    Nice setup and information. Your setup is similar to what my wife and I are considering. Have you tried towing over steep grades. We have quite a few of those to deal with and I was concerned the weight of the Wrangler would be too much for the Navion. I've seen some people who disconnect the Jeep and drive it separately when they are going through the mountains. I'd like to avoid that but the larger Super C's that make that easy are much more expensive than the Navion.

      Hey Mark, we do disconnect, especially when going down steep hills. It takes us 10 minutes to unhook, so we don’t mind.

    How much does your keep weigh with the extra stuff on it? I’m really interested in the Navion/View and want to tow a Jeep like yours but was worried it would exceed the tow rating. Also, are you having any difficulty with the low OCCC?

    • @rvseeingyou
      @rvseeingyou  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We had it weighed once and was over. I think the Jeep by itself was 4600. I never had a problem pulling it except for steep up/down hills! For those situations we disconnected and reconnected after. OCCC will depend on your model however we honestly didn’t have any issues with ours.

    Can someone tell me the difference between the towing capacity of a tiffin wayfarer which I have and the one they have. We are in the market for a 4 door jeep but not sure how it would tow. Is it the same or no?

    • @rvseeingyou
      @rvseeingyou  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Every vehicle has their own OCCC. Even vehicles of the same make & model will be different. You have look at the sticker on your vehicle.

    The only thing that looks like a pain is the brake system. Have you thought about something that stays in place?

    • @rvseeingyou
      @rvseeingyou  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No we haven’t looked into any of those. Initially we wanted something that was light, easy to install without professional help and didn’t require drilling. We found this system by chance on Craigslist from someone who sold their RV. What system do you use?

      @@rvseeingyou I haven't set my View up for towing, but used to tow a Buick Enclave with my old Motorhome. I used a Readybrute Elite towbar/brake combo. It does require drilling. The cable end stays on your front bumper which makes it ugly. But it was a fast set up by attaching 1 cable adding about 5 seconds to the toolbar. I may tow with the View one day but enjoying taking a break for towing for now.
