    Great video. I'm a new Blue Ox owner and this will help me a bunch. Also, love the "stay away from I-40" comment at the end. That road is hell through AZ

    It is actually law in a lot of places that you cross your safety chains/cables under your towbar/trailer tongue. Great video, and thank you for your time in creating it!

      and if you think about it, when the cables are connected straight without being crossed (II), the Jeep can just wander from side to side as the cables remain parallel. When they are crossed (X), they act to prevent the Jeep from swaying from side to side as much.

    If you cross your safety cables under the tow bar before hooking to your baseplate, it will hold your tow bar up off of the ground if the towing system fails.

    I have a blue ox pulling a 2017 Chevy Colorado 4x4 when it caught FIRE!! I don’t want locks on vehicle being towed!!!
    I had to get it unhooked quick to save my RV

  • @halliard1117
    @halliard1117 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Ima is correct those cables are supposed to go to the opposite side. Blue Ox rep stated to make sure you criss-cross them under the Blue Ox bar. He also stated to place the pins and hooks facing the same way. That is if the lock is on the inside for the right it will be on the outside on the left arm.

    Do you have a video explaining the set up of the wiring for the braking system? I’m a little confused as to what triggers the patriot braking system to apply the brakes. Is it the same wire that triggers the brake lights? That’s the only thing I can think of. I just can’t find a tutorial explaining that part.
    Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

      The Blue Ox Patriot Portable Braking System - Proportional # BLU37TR, uses a 12V powered remote that wirelessly connects to the 12V powered braking unit. This wireless remote has an inertia-based sensor in it that can sense the braking of the towing vehicle and communicates that braking need to the towed vehicle. The remote also give you a manual override feature like brake controllers do to allow you to apply the brakes in the towed vehicle as you determine necessary. It also has a light indicator so you know when the brakes are being applied on your towed vehicle from the cabin of your towing vehicle.

    Do you do hard wheeling in your JL? The bracket that is connected to the front of the jeep, is it easily removable? It seems like you will lose clearance for climbing rocks with that piece and the pieces sticking out forward of the bumper. But overall seems like a good setup

    • @BenandBrandi

    Doesn’t that thing bounce around while you’re moving? Seems like it has to be set in there just right and if it gets out of wack it won’t work. ?

    • @BenandBrandi
      @BenandBrandi  ปีที่แล้ว

      No. The metal arm holds it in place. If you get it to tight it won’t work and or hold your brake lights on. We have put thousands of miles on our flat tow setup.

    • @BenandBrandi

      @@hrishihru That’s not true. With the transfer case in neutral, the front tires of the toad free spin and turn as needed without any damage

    • @JoeBlowski
      @JoeBlowski 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @hrishihru That's not true, because front wheels have "caster" similar to grocery shopping carts that allow them to harmlessly turn as needed to follow the tow vehicle even around sharp corners as long as the steering wheel can freely rotate which is why it must be disengaged if it has a locking steering wheel.
