Hi, Rob. Very, VERY surprised by the massive dropoff in HR accuracy of the PW1 in the indoor cycling. One year ago, you yourself said this was one of the best performers that you had tested, trailing (basically) only the Apple products. Now, one year later, it's dropped to a .70??? This has to be an error, either user or the watch itself Any way to help us understand this major discrepancy? Thanks!
Excellent video! I've become a bit of a Pixel Watch convert and have enjoyed getting fit/losing weight with the help of the Fitbit environment -- I now trust it more than I did the system on Ticwatch Pro 5. Now I have the Pixel Watch 2 with better battery/faster charging, topping it up once a day for 30 mins before bed is no hassle. I now fin it the most comfortable and "smartest " of fitness trackers. Just a point on your comment re Fitbit integration - I assume that you have manually installed the Google Fit apps on the watch since they are not their on either of my Pixel Watch 1 or Watch 2. Can't be confused if they are not there. The only issue I have found with my Watch 2 is the GPS cutting out completely at random midway through a tracked exercise - all the rest of the metrics are recorded correctly, the GPS track and altitude tracking just randomly stop. I'm currently in comms with Fitbit/Google to try and work out if this is a hardware/software fault. It seems from the internet that I'm not the only person experiencing this issue.
@TheQuantifiedScientist I am still experiencing the GPS tracking issue on this watch, it's just stopping tracking at a random point during my tracked walk. Google Support has just passed me on to FitBit support as it's an "exercise tracking" issue - have to say the experience of FitBit support has been pretty poor so far - they just closed my case as they'd "not heard from me for a while" even though I was waiting for a response from them on what they are doing about the issue! Is this something you have experienced or heard about elsewhere? I'm wondering if this is actually a hardware issue as I never experienced this with Pixel Watch 1 (or any other smartwatch I have used from Samsung, Mobvoi or Huawei). Starting to get VERY annoying!!
Too bad Battery Life is not Measured in WEEKS or DAYS...and not HOURS. Until that changes I'll stay with the Fitbit Charge 6 and Garmin Vivoactive 5. If you're on Android and live in the US these seem like two very logical choices for the $$$. But if Google can get their Battery Life problem solved I would definitely consider a future Pixel Watch. Great video as usual Rob.
I take the accuracy of heart rate and sleep tracking along with smartwatch features over battery life. I had a Fitbit Sense and battery life was nice but I honestly don't miss it since the Pixel Watch 2 charges quickly and I do a top off while getting ready in the morning and at night. 20 minutes, give or take.
@@eezeepee In 2024, if you have an Apple, Garmin, Fitbit, Pixel, Samsung, etc...we're now down to those last percentages of accuracy. Increasingly it's depending more on each individual's personalized fit to the sensor on their wrist...as we continue getting closer to the point of diminishing returns. Rob is now seeing this more and more as his GF increasingly sees different/better results using the SAME smartwatch. The Pixel Watch 2 is an excellent smartwatch no doubt, if you're OK with charging it once per day or multiple times a day that's great. But once you get used to charging once a week...it is hard to go back.
@@mboikoI have to second that. Everything is going to be more than accurate enough for general users. If any of us were really that serious, we'd have those $1000 Garmin upper tiers or Polar straps or other medical grade stuff. The One Plus Watch 2 also looks to have just completely demolished everyone with a fully smart Wear OS but lasts 4+ full days AND has super fast charging that only takes 10 mins for another full day or only 30 mins to completely full charge. I have a suspicion the PixelW 3 will probably use a similar hybrid twin OS + twin chip setup.
Curious about your experience with the Fitbit charge 6. I have the Samsung Galaxy watch 6 classic and I keep UI and the finished tracking is terrible. Looking at a charge 6 for about $90 new one day to wear as my fitness band
@@Thefastlane425 You definitely want to watch Rob's video on the Fitbit Charge 6. While each person has of course different requirements, for just $90 I would say it has the BEST Cost/Performance/Accuracy out there...plus 1 week of battery life..

Hi my friend, It hasn't been long since I saw you, I still watch your videos. I am waiting for a detailed review about HUAWEİ WATCH ULTIMATE from you. You can make the best of it.
I just got my yesterday and I love it. I came from a Fitbit Sense 2 night and day let me tell you. My wife got the apple watch series 9. She loves it. But in my opinion the blue pixel watch 2 looks fly. So glad I made the switch
What I miss in general is testing the quality of the step tracking, especially the positive errors caused by moving the arms. This is what I extremely realized on the Samsung Fit 3 (at least 1500 to 3000 miscounted steps daily). So much so that I have returned the fitness band.
Sleep tracking is very important for me, and I've made my mind that I prefer having it on my smartwatch (as opposed to via a strap or a ring). I also like using my smartwatch to track my daily steps (a daily goal I have of 8,000 at least). For that reason, I need a great sleep tracker that is also a smartwatch and has something like a 10-14-day battery life (so I don't have to charge it every couple of days). It seems to me that if you put all of those things together (1 - has to be a great sleep tracker, 2 - has to be a smartwatch, and 3 - must have a 10-14-day battery life), the ONLY option available today is a Garmin, something like the Venu 3. Agree?
He just reviewed a pixel watch 2 that pretty much describes what you want as well. The sleep trackers are kind of shit on these watches that don't need to be charged daily anyway. Garmin is a reputable company you won't buy a bad product from them, google is more likely to get better at refining the sensors and stuff, pick whichever you want
@@It-s-me-P Sure, the only thing I'd disagree on is battery life. The Pixel Watch 2 might last a couple of days with normal usage (if that). I need a watch that I only recharge every week or so, and it seems like the best option (considering sleep tracking) is a Garmin Venu 3 or Fenix 7.
Looks like sensor sensitivity is the primary issue, likely due to location. The algorithm they're using to interpolate the data is also likely skewing the results, mostly noteworthy in the outdoor bike ride data. This is just conjecture, of course, but seems most likely to me.
I have been considering getting a Pixel watch 2 and based on your video I’m quite happy with how it performs but I might wait for the larger version rumoured to be coming with the Pixel Watch 3. I guess it’s hard to get subscribers when most people will only have a temporary interest in the subject and once they have bought a watch they probably don’t want to watch anymore. Apart from making some videos that give advice on how to get the most out of the various watches, I imagine you’d get a few more subscribers if you included more footage of your wife testing the watches. Jokes aside, great video as always, I know exactly what I’m going to get when I click.
Hey, would you consider testing Huawei Watch 4 / 4pro? Huawei smartwatches are pretty high on your diagrams in case of health, and i'm wondering how is watch4 comparing to other watches. As always, great video!
Man I have been watching videos trying to shop for a watch and they are all the same. Just reading me the spec sheet. Thanks so much for what you are doing.
Your GPS tracking method is interesting, but you did not mention the accuracy of the distance covered on your rides. I have a couple watches and sometimes the distance is different and I'd like to know how accurate the pixel watch 2 is at recording the distance. Can you provide?
I absolutely love the retesting concept, acquiring Fitbit is working wonderfully for Google, let's see if they match with apple when pixel watch 3 comes!
You can change the fitbits sleep tracking from normal to sensitive in the settings. I dont know if that would make it more accurate. Anyway love these follow-up videos
I bought a Huawei GT3 Pro looking at your videos and I'm more than happy! The battery life is amazing. I got the device on tuesday and still have 53% even though I did a software update and continues heart tracking is enabled.
These videos are certainly very interesting but I wonder how much can be extrapolated from them. For instance, the Apple Watches consistently perform at the top of all your tests, yet when I tried them they consistently dropped the heart rate signal so that I would have large chunks of no HR data during my activities, it was especially bad for weightlifting. By contrast, my Garmin FR965 performs reasonable well across all activities (chest straps are way better of course). So how much variability is there between individuals and between proper fits? No matter what I tried for example, I couldn’t get Apple to work (despite multiple bands and tightness levels).
thanks for the review. i think i will be trying out google ecosystem this year. currently on iphone and apple watch but would love to try out pixel 9 pro and pixel watch 3 now that pixel watch 3 is on par with apple watch in health/fitness tracking
I've been using whoop for the past 5 years but lately i have the feeling that it's really not worth the price considering that many smart watches offers very similar performance for much cheaper. I might change for the Google Pixel Watch 2 since i'm using pixel 7. Thank you for this review!
I love science based reviews that rely on data rather than hyperbole!!! Great job! I have found the Pixel Watch 2 incredibly accurate except for one scenario where it completely goes completely crazy. If the ambient temperature is low, even on a fast walk it will report a super high HR. It tracks well but then loses it and will report 170-190 HR when true HR is around 120 (cadence is also around 120). Might be an issue with all wrist based devices which is why I always use a chest strap. I had started trusting the Pixel Watch 2 so much that the first time it happened I believed it though I was having a heart issue. It was just so accurate usually. The lesson is to always use a chest strap before freaking out 🤦♂️
Is there a graph of devices you can share showing the accuracy of awake time compared to reference devices? 🙏 I'd like to know for the purposes of informing users with circadian rhythm disorders who might want to track their wake/sleep times more accurately or easily (via sleep detection) at home.
Thank you so much for going inti so much depth. Would you advise purchasing a brand new version of this watch to ensure the sensors are accurate or do you think you could get away with buying a used model? I guess this question stands for all wearable health trackers.
Are any of the Masimo trackers in your upcoming plans? I know it doesn't have sleep tracking but would like to know what you think of the other features they provide. Thanks and love the videos!
Have you considered testing the Garmin HRM chest strap against the Polar one that you use? I would be curious to know if there is a difference between the two and which one you like better.
Great level of analysis. Do you have an evaluation of the step counter in the Pixel Watch 2 when compared to other watches? Does anyone evaluate step counters on Wear OS smart watches?
I tried to wait for this video before buying my Pixel Watch 2 but, NGL, I couldn't wait. I'm happy with the device so far. My main worry is its battery life, and how much it consumes whilst tracking workouts. BTW, Have you explored the differences between the "Weights" and "Weightlifting" modes? Great video!! Cheers!!
Another thing that concerns me is not knowing how accurate is the step counter (the phone (Google Fit app) counts different, but also I don't always carry my phone at all times), as well as the calorie consumption estimation, which I'm aware all devices over-estimate the calories burned but I'd like to see an option to change it so it's closer to a reasonable number.

Can't wait for Pixel watch 3. It's going to be a lot better, I hope at least. Maybe just below 90% sleep agreement?
Hey, would you consider testing Huawei Watch 4 / 4pro? Huawei smartwatches are pretty high on your diagrams in case of health, and i'm wondering how is watch4 comparing to other watches. As always, great video!
Could you also test galaxy fit 3 please?
Please review samsung galaxy fit 3 and one plus watch 2
Im so interested how the pixel watch 3 will turn out. Do you plan a review like this for the future generation?
Man I have been watching videos trying to shop for a watch and they are all the same. Just reading me the spec sheet. Thanks so much for what you are doing.
Great videos as always you're so intelligent it's insane. I wonder of the one plus watch 2 has similar results?
Your GPS tracking method is interesting, but you did not mention the accuracy of the distance covered on your rides. I have a couple watches and sometimes the distance is different and I'd like to know how accurate the pixel watch 2 is at recording the distance. Can you provide?
3:48 could this peak be a doubling? It appears like sometimes these watches doubles the heart rate, maybe they detect the dicrotic notches as beats?
When comes your tests for the Pixel watch 3 and pixel watch 3 XL
I absolutely love the retesting concept, acquiring Fitbit is working wonderfully for Google, let's see if they match with apple when pixel watch 3 comes!
Are you serious? I like the Pixel Watch 2, but I wouldn't buy it again because of Fitbit.
You can change the fitbits sleep tracking from normal to sensitive in the settings. I dont know if that would make it more accurate. Anyway love these follow-up videos
I didn't find it? Can you please help me get to those settings?
I bought a Huawei GT3 Pro looking at your videos and I'm more than happy! The battery life is amazing. I got the device on tuesday and still have 53% even though I did a software update and continues heart tracking is enabled.
Where did you purchase from?
These videos are certainly very interesting but I wonder how much can be extrapolated from them. For instance, the Apple Watches consistently perform at the top of all your tests, yet when I tried them they consistently dropped the heart rate signal so that I would have large chunks of no HR data during my activities, it was especially bad for weightlifting. By contrast, my Garmin FR965 performs reasonable well across all activities (chest straps are way better of course). So how much variability is there between individuals and between proper fits? No matter what I tried for example, I couldn’t get Apple to work (despite multiple bands and tightness levels).
Will you review the new OnePlus Watch 2????? Pleaseeeeeee 🙏
thanks for the review. i think i will be trying out google ecosystem this year. currently on iphone and apple watch but would love to try out pixel 9 pro and pixel watch 3 now that pixel watch 3 is on par with apple watch in health/fitness tracking
Please do GW6 retest and galaxy fit 3 test. Luv ur vids❤❤
Fit 3 for sure! A retest in the short term of the GW6 I cannot promise, but let’s see 😌
@@TheQuantifiedScientist thankx
I'd like to know for the purposes of informing users with circadian rhythm disorders who might want to track their wake/sleep times more accurately or easily (via sleep detection) at home.
Do appreciate the testing on Teresa as well. Gives an idea how variable the results can be from person to person.
I know it would be a bit hard but could you include the accuracy of calorie expenditure
Hi Rob!, Im looking forward to see your impression on the Galaxy Fit 3 band...I think is already available in Austria! ;)
Thank you so much for going inti so much depth. Would you advise purchasing a brand new version of this watch to ensure the sensors are accurate or do you think you could get away with buying a used model? I guess this question stands for all wearable health trackers.
I forgot to add, your reviews are great. 👍
Are any of the Masimo trackers in your upcoming plans? I know it doesn't have sleep tracking but would like to know what you think of the other features they provide. Thanks and love the videos!
How is the battery? Without AOD?
PW3 is at least rumored to be bigger, so probably a bigger battery life as well. Having hopeful expectations for it.
Samsung Galaxy Fit 3 Please.
Have you considered testing the Garmin HRM chest strap against the Polar one that you use? I would be curious to know if there is a difference between the two and which one you like better.
Sir, What about the latest review of fitbit charge 6?
Why should he redo the test? has anything changed since he reviewed Charge 6 the last time?
@@h7awaj why did he review the pixel watch 2?
We knew whether any changes in accuracy were only after the test.
Rob please review galaxy fit 3
Do you publish your results somewhere ? like an excel sheet etc ...
I'd love to see a video about the accuracy of the ultrahuman ring!
Great level of analysis. Do you have an evaluation of the step counter in the Pixel Watch 2 when compared to other watches? Does anyone evaluate step counters on Wear OS smart watches?
I can't wait to see your review of Galaxy Watch Fit3
Hello! Please kidnly advise which watch to choose if i would like round one with at least 5-days working battery? Thank you in advance!
It would be nice if you could share the list of the best 10/20 watches you have tested ✌️
Thanks Rob! Please review the Garmin FR 165 next ❤
Great video!!! Can you please test galaxy fit 3 next, been checking your page daily for it😭
