My two personal favorites are Mario Lanza and Luciano Pavarotti . My father absolutely loved Mario Lanza because he is from our hometown, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
The great Mario Lanza stands alone. I agree with you. Lanza and Pavarotti are the best in singing the climax from “Turandot.” The great Lanza had such a tragic personal life.
1. Correlli 2. Del Monaco 3. Bjoerling 4. Gigli 5. Pavarotti I am a bit of Correllian supremacist when it comes this aria. This role is meant for a dramatic spinto tenor. Correlli was destined to sing this. It must have been amazing to hear Mr. Correlli sing it live. Lucky, are those who were alive to experience it. He died four years after I was born. Opera will perhaps never be the same and us the younger generation must strive for its survival. Shame, we never got to hear Caruso's rendition fore he died unexpectedly before he could ever perform it. So much we could have learned from it. Forget the modern "singers". The quality is lacking immensely.
I agree. Problem is the good takes of him the record company blocked. He was the king if the high A for sure His high A better than even Pavarotti but not his Bb , B or C. Luciano wins there
CORRECT - FOR THE PUREST OPERATIC VOICE COMPARISON - My teachers, Ken Smith, Jerome Hines & Franco Corelli would all agree - Del Monaco & Corelli & Bjorling the most clear & powerful spinto lyrico tenores without any thing -
By far Puccini wrote the most powerful, emotionally charged aria in all of opera history for all male tenors to perform...you cannot walk away unchanged for the rest of your days.
Gracias
Corelli, the only une that makes me believe that he really will win.
He was the greatest in my opinion. And my friend and he Jerome Hines were my teachers

OK I concede that Pavarotti's is the most beautiful - but I so love hearing Jose Carreras singng this too
Per me, Corelli il migliore!
What a nice surprise... I loved the great tenors, and I really like the modernized version.
he (Franco) & Jerome Hines, Ken Smith were my teachers I could only hope to emulate
Absolutely no comparison CORELLI NO 1
agreed - but I'm partial - he was one of my teachers
Mario Del Monaco, poi Corelli.
Corelli is magnificent! That said, I rather like Jonathan Tetelman, though he's not included here.
Corelli
Not domingos best recording
I agree. Problem is the good takes of him the record company blocked. He was the king if the high A for sure

At least comparison got one thing right. They included Mario Del Monaco. That said this was by no way his best rendition of this aria.
The incomparable lyrico-spinto tenores Del Monaco & Corelli the most powerful tenor voices with Bjorling a close 3rd - Pavarotti - beautiful lyric
1:24 that recording is from 1954
I agree.
Pavarotti non pronuncia correttamente "vincerò
Ascoltate
con attenzione..
..come pure Kaufman.
Mario Lanza r Beniamino Gigli, dizione corretta ..
Jonas Kaufman. He has a very baritone quality to his voice, a deep richness yet effortless on the highs.
Che paragoni sono? Mario Del Monaco, poi Corelli.
Corelli NO 1 For Ever
Pavarotti, Pavarotti and always Pavarotti! Nessun altro, that's for sure.
Ciao
He's way down the list.
All film clips and microphone singing should be excluded.

There's something about Boccelli's simple, soulful delivery that allows him to stand apart. I don't say he is best.
non è un tenore.
@@marisarossi6692 Maybe that's part of why I like him. :-) I've also appreciated Domingo's full-bodied voice.
By far Puccini wrote the most powerful, emotionally charged aria in all of opera history for all male tenors to perform...you cannot walk away unchanged for the rest of your days.
