Thanks for carrying me along to re-live this hike that I have made many times in my life (my parents ran the concession stands that were still active in the Upper and Lower park back in the late 1940's and early 1950's, so as such this has always been my favorite park to visit). Btw, as your gps said, it is pronounced "tree-man", although it was still "Enfield Glen State Park" in my parent's time, and we still have some leftover souvenirs from that era.
From my old man perspective, for those folks not up to such a rigorous hike (or recovering from a heart attack as I had last month), definately drive between the two sections of the park and walk the shorter trails to & from the respective waterfalls. The best of the Upper park can be seen by hiking the trail through the grotto down to Lucifer Falls and turning back at the sharp left turn where you were at 5:45 .
For those folks appreciative of antiquities, be sure to visit "The Old Mill" at the upper park entrance. They have interpretive signs showing how the grain was hoisted to the top floor and gravity feed down each level to arrive as flour at the bottom floor.
For those folks who love a challenge: On one of my hikes following your route during the early '80s, I was as passed on the way up by a couple of young ladies that were jogging, and when I found them resting on the bridge at the transition to the return ridge trail, they told me they routinely averaged twenty minutes from Lower Park to Upper Park, ten minutes rest, then twenty minutes back down the ridge trail to the Lower park for a total "short workout" of about an hour!!!

Cool video. Got to see the lower trail witch I did not do. Plus water was a heavier flow on your hike!!

We definitely caught it at a high flow time

Visiting soon. So are you saying you can park in upper parking and hike to Lucifer Falls and then return to parking lot same path? Tnx for your video. It was beautiful

      Yes!
It’s definitely the more enjoyable way and much shorter, although there’s a ton of stairs. You can drive down to the final water fall (the swimming hole) as well.
I was cranky in this video because it was super hot and this was the third hike of the day, don’t get me wrong I really enjoy this place but the hike in between the falls isn’t necessary to enjoy the park :)

Thanks! We did multiple hikes that day and it was hot, I was a little whiny here but it's still an awesome place

Love it! I was just at Watkins Glen and the terrain is similar.

The watkins Glen video was just posted a week before this. Tomorrow buttermilk falls releases. We did all three in one day

So, I went yesterday. It was fun but I had one disappointed. Part of the Gorge Trail was closed for construction near the bridge. I had to go around to kinda see more of it but again, blocked off. But I enjoyed my trip and will go back in the future.

Oh no, what a shame! It’s really a nice hike so I’m sorry you didn’t get to experience it all. Let me know how it goes after you return and get to hike the whole thing

I been trying to get out more. Live a little you know. I just went to Stony Brook State Park for the first time. Not bad at all. Might go here tomorrow. Still thinking about it lol.

I hadn’t heard of stony Brook, thanks for the suggestion! This park was awesome but it’s over 4 miles for the whole loop so be prepared!
