As a Mavs fan, I gotta say the Rondo trade was the worst one. The Kristaps trades worked out in the end, because the assets we got from Kristaps turned into Kyrie. As a result of those trades, we ended up with rosters that were good enough to make the Western Conference finals and NBA Finals. But the Rondo trade definitely was a big L for us.
Not to mention that trade killed the chemistry our team had before that trade.
I agree, also while watching him play, he looked like he didn’t even wanna be there/and let alone play at all. Looked lazy and unwilling. Pisses me off seeing players do that.
For the Celtics I say this trade it killed their run that looked like another title

The Dejounte Murray trade could end up being the worst trade the Hawks have made since 2010. Also the Melo trade for the Knicks was horrible they gutted there whole roster and Jamal Murray for a guy that they could have gotten in free agency 5 months later.
Still is fascinating how essential melodrama was for the nuggets championship

That guy was always awkward. Looked like a newborn giraffe out there. Like the type of clutz that is constantly tripping on irregularities in the carpet.
Rondo trade killed us for years. Rondo didn't get along with Rick Carlisle and it really set us back for a couple of years with Dirk still still playing well. The Porzingis trade were not great but the were some silver linings. Especially the trade that got us Dinwiddie. KP just never played. Injured all the time and when he did play, he wasn't in rhythm between injuries. Getting Dinwiddie really helped us make the WCFinals.
Being honest, Rondo was a cancer everywhere he went. It just so happened that he fortunately had Lebron and AD to carry him to the 1 ring he got outside of Boston.
Masai really made the list 3 times...what a run he had with all those deals in a short time span. And you could consider a 4th one with the Terrence Ross + 1st for Ibaka trade.
He really turned Vasquez, Bargnani, Derozan, and a 1st rounder into Powell, Anunoby, Green and Kawhi. Insane. Then he drafts Siakam with a late 1st, and signs undrafted Fred Van Vleet.
I hope he can do it again!
As a Pelicans fan, the trade that pisses me off the most is trading down from #4 in 2019 to select Jaxson Hayes at #8. Hayes was okay for the Pelicans, but at #4 they could've had Darius Garland. If they had Garland, they don't have to trade for McCollum or Murray. He would give them CJ's shooting and Murray's passing. I know he had a down year in 2024, but he was fantastic the previous few seasons, and I'm a huge fan of his game. He seemed like such a perfect fit with Zion and I'm still frustrated by that decision. The Chris Paul trade is objectively worse, but they were sort of painted into a corner by CP3's trade request and by Stern vetoing the Lakers trade.

I agree we should've gone for future picks. I think they learned their lesson after multiple years of decent-but-not-good-enough basketball with DeRozan and Aldridge. I'd say getting Aldridge and Jefferson were both terrible. There's also some trades they did that ended up being really good. And this year's draft they could've picked Buzelis, Edey, etc instead of trading the pick away.

If it helps, they would've just passed on Kobe like the other twelve teams did. They wanted Vlade and the Lakers knew they'd be one of the last trade partners before somebody scooped Kobe
What about naming all the GM who made the trade? Some of them got raises and some got another front office job with another team . Only in the nba , you get rewarded for doing a bad job
Kawhi had the chance to develop with an elite team with insane veteran mentorship on the spurs, it wouldn’t have been the same on Indiana
We must be honest, nobody Believed kawhi could have been the player he became. He was a role player with good defense and rebounding. Even Ginóbili admitted that he was angry with the trade. Probably it was the Best player develpment in history in NBA (sorry for My English if You don't undertandme)
There’s A LOT of options for the Timberwolves here, but I’m guessing you’ll go with the Jimmy Butter-to-Philly trade just because the return package was god-awful relative to both Butler’s talent and what Minnesota shipped out to get him the previous year.
Dallas fan- rondo trade was definetly the worst. Yeah, kp didn't play well for us but honestly Tim Hardaway had some very solid years as one of our key guys, and trading kp for bertans and Spencer would have been arguably worse but the context of dinwiddie being traded for kyrie and bertans for Omax Prosper I honestly think that putrid rondo deal takes it.

Even before the trade was a Bad idea. I mean, the trade was expensive, the fit was Bad (You had ad and bron, You needed a player that gave space and shoot and off ball Game, all that Russell was not) and the pieces to get him were kcp and kuzma, two role players that were cheaps and good fit with your two Superstars

One thing you forgot to mention about the CLE kyrie trade, is CLE lost Lebron as a result of that trade because the Cavs gave in to Irving’s selfish demands and traded him for worthless garbage just to get him on to a new team and screwed any chance Lebron had of competing for another ring in CLE again the Warriors. That was the move that pissed him off enough to go to LA. I’d rate it as one of the worst trades of all time considering CLE lost two hall of famers for nothing and had to go in to a rebuild. If CLE was smart they would have just started fining him and forced him to play out his contract, or hurt his own own future contract by sitting out.
The Hawks/Mavs draft night trade was planned because the Mavs wanted to secure Luka and made a deal to draft Trae with their pick then trade

As a Hawks fan, I don't have a problem with missing out on Luka. It is what it is when someone becomes an MVP caliber player. Getting Trae + a 2019 pick seemed like a steal at the time. That being said that pick turned into Cam Reddish.... and that... that does hurt me.
In My opinion the trade was Bad from the beginning, but we should say that Trae stopped to improve as a player and did not do some changes to be better. In a moment the most said that the trade was not Bad (when Atlanta played ecf)

i dont like the Vooch trade either, but Carter Jr has not looked better than Vooch simply cuz his same issues when he was here, he's having in Orl (he hasnt been healthy). Also Franz has looked good, but not like a supermax player.
That trade doomed their retooling before it even started. It wasn’t even WCJr as much as the two super lightly protected 1sts, all for a C that can’t protect the rim. Idk who they were bidding against, I mean they were one of the worst teams in the East when they moved those picks. At least that first pick was gonna end up as a good lotto pick.
I’d rather have WCJr simply because of the contract too. He’s making such little money you can have him as a backup and be fine, or a trade piece. If you’re gonna have DeMar and Lavine, prolly a good idea to have a C that can protect the rim. If they wanted a C that could shoot, one of the picks (not sure why they had to give up that years pick, and only T3 protected or w/e it was) + WCJr + expiring for Myles Turner would’ve been a good trade.
Especially bc they clearly planned on going all in that next off season, giving up a lottery pick is nuts. I would’ve rather given up an unprotected 1st the next season and like a T1-T2 protected swap way down the road than give up that year’s pick. I think IND would’ve prolly done that too. WCJr + next year’s unprotected 1st + a T1 or T2 protected swap 4-6 years out, and an expiring for Turner.
IIRC that was around the time they were willing to move him too. I remember IND offered Turner and filler for Hayward in a S&T…and getting Turner in a S&T is crazy considering what little value teams usually get in them. Pretty sure Ainge asked for MT and TJ Warren or something wild like that 😂. And that was TJ coming off of that monster 19-20 season before he got hurt again.
Edit: IND offered McDermott and Turner, Ainge countered with MT and one of TJ or Oladipo. They ended up giving up a couple seconds to get that massive trade exception by moving Hayward in to CHA’s cap space. Pretty sure they used that to get Josh Richardson? I don’t remember if they used it for anyone else.
@@BOnYTB The picks were both op 8 protected. I get why they went after vooch. He was coming off an allstar season and he's an instant double double. Covid caused some missed games when we were on track to make it to the playoffs. The other thing is that, for whatever reason, they didnt bring back Theis, who is a defensive 4 that helped cover for vooch. Also, WCJr was ok defensively for us. I rememeber constant games where he was getting owned on that side lol. Again, I dont like the trade and how it turned out, but I think it's overblown how bad it was.
At the time the Nets Celtics trade was considered one of the worst/best trades of all time. And it still is... Except the best/worst flipped.
The porzingis trade for the mavs was not a bad trade, trading him there they gave up in hindsight turns out to be basically nothing, and can even be seen as a blessing in disguise with them tanking successfully and taking derrick lively

To the contrary, the Collin Sexton pick was definitely not a good one. Shea Gilgeous Alexander was available. I heard a rumor that he didn't want to play for Cleveland which is why Sexton was picked. But if you're talking about it being a bad trade from Boston's perspective, you have to take into account that that player would have played for Boston .I mean, he decided to play for OKC

That was certainly a baffling one. Especially with how lightly protected the pick was considering TOR’s record, and Poeltl being an expiring. I remember being very shocked at the time to say the least. The Poeltl trade was way way worse than the one in the video, but like he said it took a long time. Maybe just forgot about it or something.

Imo kyrie trade actually worked out. IT was washed post injury and we wouldve been put in a tough situation to give him the max or not. Kyrie experiment failed but it let us know that getting another “superstar” was not the play and we should build around jt and jb

The Blake trade was by far the worst. I don’t like that some DET fans boo Blake, not his fault…and he played hard. He had a GREAT season in that All-NBA 3rd team season, maybe his best season ever. It’s too bad they cleared him to play against MIL while very clearly injured too bc that likely took a couple good seasons off his career.
The Middleton trade was just whatever, I mean in hindsight sure…but he was a late 2RP throw in. The Blake trade was clearly atrocious at the time, it was a Hail Mary by SVG to save his job. The smart thing to do would’ve been to rebuild. Trade Tobias for 1-2 1sts, trade Avery Bradley for a few seconds or a bad 1st, and keep their own 1st which ended up being P12…but obv would’ve been much better than that.
Also could’ve moved Bullock at that deadline, he was shooting really well, having a solid season for sure. At least could’ve gotten some 2nds for him, 6’6 3&D wing on a small salary…maybe could’ve even gotten a late 1st especially if they took back some bad salary. They ended up trading him for Svi (and maybe a 2nd?) like a year later lol.
Sigh Pistons. I’d love to see a DET historic rebuild starting somewhere in the summer of 2008 - summer of 2014 area or so.

Beal for Chris Paul in my mind was just from a value point of view. Like yeah Beal is better than Chris Paul at this point in 2k I’d make that trade all day. However, this isn’t 2k and like you said Beal doesn’t Fill any of the holes we had in our roster and is on a horrible contract. Beal contract is huge what avoid You to make good roster with years to be Donne, and Paul was in his last year. Beal is the style of booker so You did not need him and he has a trade clause.
