The hardest part of sleeping on glaciers is that it is so noisy :) Yes, we local people would sleep as far from a glacier as possible because the melting ice makes the stones/gravels fall from heights making a loud sound. Also, the moving water can create a hole in the glacier which is an ultimate death trap.
Every step taken on black glacier needs to be analyzed first otherwise it will be your last step, therefore locals use cattle. Animals have this skill of sensing there is something wrong with the given path and choose a safer path, so we just follow them :)
Karakorum glaciers are the only expanding ice depot on earth, the peaks around are so high that the Karakorum controls its temperature like a deep freezer. this is known as the Karakorum effect globally :

So my favourite family finally made it to the Goro Camp of the Army ..... I was waiting for your first encounter with them on the trek. Too bad it wasn't filmed. I mean they are really a very good lot. I apologise for your encounter in Lahore. But they are genuinely nice people. Hope you liked the tea. I eagerly await your arrival at Concordia and your reaction to that majestic site. Love and Regards. P. S. It happens when a glacier cuts through the ground over 1000s of years.
Thanks for opening this part of the world in such detail. Trash and litter unfortunately is a problem. We need education and a change in mind-set, to make people realize that a clean environment adds to the beauty of the place.
