      The 2011 Hyundai Sonata has a problem where the engine seizes without warning. The average repair cost is about $5,000 and the average mileage at the time of seizing is around 90,000 miles. A class action lawsuit in 2015 found the 2.4-liter engine to be defective.

I can vouch that you thoroughly explained this car! I got my 2021 Limited.. Same interior.. Quartz White. Last week. I Love it! The torque really pulls... Better than I imagined! Nice pickup,
    Question: Could it be possible to make this model AWD with the lowered shock towers or would it be just too expensive?

  • @neighborscomplaint6859
    @neighborscomplaint6859 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I am a 4 time Hyundai owner (xg300, Azera, Sonata T type and Azera). All have been V6 w. the exception of the Type which was the 274hp 2.0 L turbo 4. My current 2012 Azera has the 290 hp 3.0L V6 w. direct injection. A V6 is my preference for smoothness and torque. I only kept the The 2011 T Type Turbo 4 for 2 years, due to hard (sport tuned) suspension and shakey 4 cylinder engine. It was fast enough but was not a smooth running engine and power was like an on-off switch.
    I recently test drove 2-2020 Sonatas, one a standard 2.5L I4 and the other the 1.6 L Turbo l4. Both were very nice cars and with a better engine, I could have been convinced to buy one. The standard 2.5L l4 was so underpowered, it literally had trouble maintaining it speed on moderate grades without forcing a downshift and listening to a screaming engine. The 1.6L i4 is much slower feeling than its 0-60 times indicate. It has more torque on tap than the 2.5L but you have to go really deep into the throttle to overcome the turbo lag and then power delivery is abrupt and not linear at all Your foot and the motor seem disconnected. From standing start, the car begins moving at a decidedly unhurried pace of its own, very disconcerting when making a left turn across oncoming traffic. I had to nearly double the interval that is safe with my Azera V6. These are great cars in search of a good motor, unfortunately.

    • @christo4982
      @christo4982 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      you must be missing something on the 2.5L. the car is a beast. yes, slow from a stand still but once moving, at any speed, will take off happily. much better than the 1.6L. and as matter of fact, running in triple digits it still has available torq to accelerate! steering is adequate. suspension is superb. road holding especially cornering is excellent at any speed!

  • @jeffmorse645
    @jeffmorse645 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Savage Geese mentioned in his review that the Sonata with the 1.6 turbo and 8 speed had noticeably inconsistent power delivery. Complained that lower speed driving was kind of irritating with frequent upshifts and downshifts and fairly rough shifting. He did say once you're cruising along it was great. Have you noticed that with yours?

    I've been looking at both the Kia K5 Gt line, and Hyundai Sonata SEL. Both come out to almost the same price, Kia being just about $500 cheaper at 28.5K, but I believe Hyundai has a longer warranty though I'm not 100% sure. Anyone wanna put there two cents on which car to get? I picked these two brands because they seem to offer the most safety features compared to other mid size sedan competitors for the price, not to mention I just think both look equally amazing inside and out. The biggest killer for me is the Hyundai's Transmission button control I don't think I could get used to that, I like the idea of saving room and taking away the handle, though I don't think ill warm up to the buttons, also the steering wheel with those bottom arches seem like they'd get in the way.

    I'm repeatedly puzzled by reviewers of Hyundai vehicles ignoring the most obvious rivals. In this case the most obvious competitor is not the Accord, the Camry, or the Altima. It's the nearly identical KIA K5. And frankly, reviews of KIA vehicles are no better. I've yet to see a K5 review that acknowledges the existence of the new Sonata.
    Personally, I'm impressed with the new Sonata. On the other hand, I prefer the looks of the K5. Considering the vehicles' similarity in terms of size, features, and powertrains, I'd be inclined to look at each before making a purchase decision.

    It's sad that most of your audience is young and gullible for fads and features and naive to the fact that both Hyundai and Kia are overpriced when compared to other manufacturers that holds the #1 spot for sells, resale value, quality and reliability for the last 30 years.

      What? Which comparable model is cheaper with comparable features? Keep in mind that Hyundai and Kia have generous rebates most of the time. You can easily get a Sonata or K5, likely with more features, for thousands less than a Camry, Accord, or Legacy. Also, Consumer Reports rates Hyundai highly in long term reliability while KBB rates their resale values above average; just barely trailing Honda, Subaru, and Toyota. This isn't the Hyundai/Kia of 20 years ago. These cars are absolutely a value and very decent cars. I'm not even a Hyundai or Kia owner and I can see that.

      Yeah, what are you talking about? To get all the features on this car on another....... you would have to bump up to an 80 K German...... there is NO BETTER value in all the automotive industry.

      Just checked Autotrader and you can pickup a fully loaded Sonata Limited for $30K. You can't get close to that price on a Camry or Accord for that option list.

    Many people will be driving a ugly cat fish look like vehicle because from the inside they can't see how really looks to cat fish

      If that is all you base your decision on, I would suggest you don't purchase it then. If you want a extremely well built, feature loaded vehicle, then there is no reason not to consider a purchase.

    Nope. The Accord is easily still the better car. Who gives a crap about a digital display. It’s not as refined as the Honda and I think the Accord looks better.

      True accord looks better but the accord hybrid lacks high mileage so checked both and got the sonata hybrid got up to 57.2 mpg saving alot on gas

      Have you driven a Hyundai or Kia lately? The Koreans are making huge improvements across the board on all their vehicles. And, they have many models that are built in Alabama and Georgia for those of us who like American made products.
