Dean Butler, thanks for all. I remember when you came to visit our sixth grade class in early 1982 in Stockton, hosted by my sixth grade teacher Miss Keller. You were so warm and laid-back with all of our class, and so many of us could not believe that you were the winning and down-to-earth character we saw on our TV screens every week. I cannot believe that four decades have passed, and I am so glad to know that you have done so much to keep the legacy of these books and the inspirational series alive (and a happy slice of my childhood).
This is a great preview of the video which is the perfect companion to "Farmer Boy." I hope everybody gets a copy. It's great that it is now more widely available. I like the other preview for it better though. I'm in that one for about 2 seconds. ;-)

(part II) El Manzoor, the name was. They changed it after a while in England..."Mansour is a common Arabic given name, meaning "victorious"; the article "al-" or "el-" merely means "the". Also, Al-Mansour is one of the most famous families in Saudi Arabia... I was just curious :)

The past month I've been recovering from pneumonia at home and I read all her books again and watched all the episodes . Cherish her memories! Thanks Mr.Butler!! Ps had a major crush on you!!:)

I was wondering about the meaning of the name Almanzo, so I found this: In one of her books, Little Town on the Prairie, Laura Ingalls Wilder attributed to Almanzo Wilder the following explanation for his rather unusual first name: "It was wished on me. My folks have got a notion there always has to be an Almanzo in the family, because 'way back in the time of the Crusades there was a Wilder went to them, and an Arab or somebody saved his life.

My mother bought me the entire collection of books that LIW wrote before I could even read. One summer I sat down and decided to read them all. I must admit when I saw the cover of Farmer Boy, I was under the impression that it was about Albert, not Almanzo. I felt a little betrayed when I discovered that the Albert character from the show was in fact fictional. I still have the books, in the original display case they arrived in. I want to pass them on to my son who will be born in November.

U may b right. The name ,” Mansoor” is Arabic and it comes from the root word ,” Nsr” which means help or victory. 💫
Then those two were meant to be together. Since his name means victorious, the name Laura does also
