thanks for this video, I can now connect my Fedora desktop to a Mint 20.04 server, both running on Samba, took a lot of time, but this video helped explain what I needed. Now I can keep the printers in the office and not in the livingroom!
Always have major issues with the wireless printer we have now so I've been looking for ways to make a print server. This toutorial is exactly what I needed, will be trying out soon.
I can't come through the samba settings. I seem to be unable to write in the terminal at that point... Edit: Apparently this step wasn't that important, because I still managed to share the printer with my other devices (Android and Windows), the problem was with the settings of my Windows PC. I still have no idea why I can't change the settings of the program in the terminal. Thanks for the video. It helped a lot!

Hi, it was very helpfull but i need to know how to configure cups in a VPS with real IP for using a printer remotely, i mean the printer is not plugged in the server running cups, is it possible?
Hii ..you explained it really well ..my question is that can't we install printer drivers through samba share? I mean i tried to install using samba but when i click on connect it's asking me some credentials.. Do you know what which credential it's keep asking?
for me i don't need samba just install cups on my linux mint machine, edit the conf as mention and conf the ip baam printing wirelessly with my old sumsung ml 1660 (even test print through xiaomi redmi note 4)

After doing exactly as in this video, open terminal and type 'sudo usermod -a -G lpadmin yourusername' restart cups by giving 'sudo systemctl restart cups' and viola, you are no longer forbidden :D
I have had the hardest time setting CUPS up on my home server. This finally made it work. Thank you so much!

slight update, having several issues but as I check everything so far it all seems to just be down to me being a noob.

please note: in the samba settings, change WORKGROUP to your domain name if you want it to be discoverable in your domain.

Could you please mention the keys you use to edit the lines and stuff. You only mentioned "Esc" and sometimes "Enter"...

Follow the installation from the beginning... You probably missed something

After I successfully add the printer, I'm not able to print a test page. Any help?
then you didn't add the printer "successfully" try reinstall again... make sure you have correct ip address and printer "software" from manufacturer
