    I literally subscribed before the man even said hi. He's in a polebarn, wearing a ushanka and a blaze orange shirt, the most wholesome smile i've ever seen, and sitting behind him is the same kind of rod holders my dad used😭. a picture speaks a 1000 words and i just knew in an instant i'd like anything this man produces.

    Thanks for all this, I'll have to do one piece at a time, this is pushing almost 10 grand in motor and electronics up here in Canada.

    First generation Helix units it was 9 or higher in the Helix series. 859, 899, 999, 1199 all do I-Pilot LInk, but they are no longer being made. For 2nd generation, look for the letter N. Helix 7 G2N can network but Helix 7 G2 cannot. I think everything 9 and above network. Just look for the N in lower numbered Helix below 9.

    I believe the cut off is helix 8 now for most of the fancy smancy stuff. I just needed to find out what that last cord you show was. I need to go buy another adapter for that to plug into my 9.

    Great video, thanks. Can you see SI on the Helix 7? I know if the both Helix units were Ns, you could - even though the one is NOT an SI unit. Wondering if you can do it too?

    Only thing different I would have done is buy the g2n H7. Just in case you want to network u could. I just rigged my boat similar. I got a 12” g3n, 10” g3n up front and Ulterra. However I did have to get an Ethernet switch.

    Hey buddy, I’ve got the helix 7 with down imaging and gps- any chance you’d do a basic tutorial on these things, technologically I’m in wayover my head and after a year can’t even find a fish with this thing!

    Would the helix 7 work with fhe ulterra to follorncontours ext?

    • @Michaelsbackyardmarina
      @Michaelsbackyardmarina  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not sure it will. You have to purchase a lake map SD card to use the contour part. For sure it works with the Helix 10.

    question what size batteries are you using? also are the new electronics getting power from the trolling motor batteries?

    • @Michaelsbackyardmarina
      @Michaelsbackyardmarina  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Front finder is off of the trolling motor battery and the rear finder is running off of the motor starter battery

    So it would be your understanding that a Helix 7 G2N would not be able to control an iPilot Link?

    • @Michaelsbackyardmarina
      @Michaelsbackyardmarina  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      From what I was told at Scheels all sports was the helix 9 and up. But the "N" in G2N means it is able to be networked.

      all you need is the remote that comes with the minn kota. that's the most important part. these are "fish finders" so what matters is can i integrate the fish finding "soundings" into something that works the trolling motor? simply put your naked eye will probably work better. what is nice is keeping your boat at a specified depth so as not to damage the trolling motor and the sonar systems linked to either the transom or the trolling or in thru hull configuration. you need the minn kota gps puck to align the trolling motor from wind socking. you also need the minn kota battery charger, plug and circuit breakers...all correctly installed. you also need a mounting bracket/quick release so you can travel without the trolling motor on the boat. but to the point that matters (besides not having your boat catch on fire) the minn kota will keep your hull and trolling motor at a safe depth which is what matters when fishing. sure we want to catch fish...but what we really want is a safe motor that is protected by the humminbird that protects your hull as well. that's why this product matters and that's what you need to tell the sales guy...and most importantly the installer who should not be you.
