I'm a homeless 56 year old, I have a job, but I do not have photographic ID. I do not ask for alms, but have become mendicant, in the traditional sense of the word (The Church of Rome) I posted a comment on a website called Quora digest, and said how much I found the 23rd Psalm comforting, and profound given my situation, and asked if there were any passages from The Bible that could help me. One person said that our Lord Jesus Christ had nowhere to rest his head. I found this very comforting and it gave me strength and the courage too carry on.
All I need is God's Love. And I have it in abundance.

I well remember when my parish priest was under excruciating pressure from the bishop to be quiet about same sex union. We all knew about it. We began to see an influx of new families and found out that they were coming from other Episcopal parishes to worship with us. The Diocese of Bolivia took us in and we began meeting in a middle school cafeteria. Every Sunday we trucked in everything we needed to make it our church. Within two years we had land and a beautiful building. Our priest was in Jerusalem for the founding of GAFCON. He is the now the Archbishop of the Anglican Church in North America. He name is Foley Beach. I am a founding member of Holy Cross Anglican Church which is the diocesan and provincial cathedral. I thank God for this brave and holy priest who led his flock to a place of safety. May God grant you special grace and wisdom as you wrestle with your decision.

Wow that was a tough conversation, if you haven’t already Dan maybe speak to Revd Brett Murphy he left the C of E with his lovely wife Kat and 2 kids who were 100% behind him, I think he would say it’s been tough and challenging to move lock stock and barrel to another are but he’s doing great because God is very obviously with him and his family, 8 weeks in and his congregation has gone from 2 to 30. We were on holiday a couple of weeks ago and went to a service there you could feel the Holy Spirts presence and the church had been closed for 4 years previously I guess waiting for them to take it on. Bless you Dan such a hard decision for you and your family to make when you are all happy and settled where you are, and maybe for now it is in fact where God wants you to be, I’m sure he will burden you if it gets to the stage where he wants you to move on with or without your congregation. “There is nowhere else to go; there’s no structure, there’s no churches . . .” -Man.
“ Wherever two or more are gathered together in my name, I am there. “-Jesus Christ.
Historical traditions, beloved ritual, beautiful buildings, wonderful artwork-none of these will be found in heaven. They are beloved, familiar trappings (and not necessarily bad), but they are external considerations and are not necessary to Christianity. If they were, Christ, or his apostles, would have instituted them. The essence of Christianity is Christ-and nothing more.

One of our local parishes here in Florida had this problem when the Episcopal began to tear apart. The Bishop, who claimed to be conservative said he felt he should work from within to bring order back to the church. Since we have been watching this "work for change from within" fail for 30 years. The majority of the parishioners from the largest church in the area had no choice but to walk away. These people along with a conservative priest set up a place of worship in a storefront space in a shopping plaza and worshiped there for over 10 years until they were able to build a new parish church and become a member of the Anglican Church of North America. My own parish chose to stay with the Episcopal Diocese so I left. I'm very proud of the ACNA where many of the churches had to struggle, but they survived and are now thriving, planting new churches all over North America, which includes Mexico. It isn't easy, but it can be done. God bless your work in the UK.

You and your husband are obviously very good people who are not afraid to speak up and question things that are clearly wrong and I am most grateful to you both. We do have an infestation of evil throughout the UK, as do many other Countries, which is clearly seen by many bizarre behaviours such as multiple genders, and lack of Borders etc. As someone who was illegally targeted 10 years ago by GVEDIRECT (Skype name) for purposes of attempted mind control (yes, it really does exist) after I did not take a £100,000 per year job that I deemed as not being good for my moral compass, I can state quite honestly that what I endured after the targeted literally was demonic, and absolute evil. All of which was covered up by the police, so, it is so important that we all take a stand now and put evil back under the stone it crawled out from under. How to remain faithful to the call of God on our lives, be we in an official ministry position or a faithful person in the pew? How to deal with the peculiar position of the Church of England which, as Calvin and Dan point out, is not nearly as top-down as many think, and in which the PCCs hold real power? I was called at 8 yrs of age, responded ,received Christ as my Saviour and Lord, among fundamental bible believers. The first 20 yrs was stable and wonderful. Then I moved to live in Canada. That brought me into the position you are now facing. I think the early church began in homes, and sometimes I believe, that’s where we are heading as the present age comes to a close. The apostasy is interdenominational . Many churches in most countries have chosen to follow the culture instead of following the BIBLE. For this reason Sola Scriptura is vital. Calvin is an encouragement to many of us who do not live in the UK.

    • @pearl4427
      @pearl4427 ปีที่แล้ว

Sola scripture is not biblical and infact is the reason for the infiltration of modern vulgar culture. Everyone has their own ideas of how to read/interpret scripture without even studying it. Which results in hundreds of denominations. Follow your ancestors and head back to the church of Christ and become Catholic.

I was brought up Cof E in north London, broad church Anglican. The changes are amazing. My mother remembered the clergy supporting fox hunting at the Boxing Day hunt. Homosexuality in those days was considered a crime. Today in north London no clergy would endorse fox hunting, but many would regard homosexuality as a legitimate lifestyle, especially around Highgate and Hampstead. In this area of London the C of E appears to be a woke joke having embraced a wishy washy ultra tolerant liberalism. Repentance and a clear understanding of our sinfulness, the prospect of eternal judgement are not taught. The Gospel has been compromised by woke ideologies.

You declare the Gospel has been comprimised. The Gospel - relates to the mission - the message, parables and sayings of Christ and the good news for salvation for all.
I do not recall Jesus talking much about homosexuality one way or the other - certainly not the criminalisation or decriminalisation of it. Nor does it say anything on fox hunting (though I have no idea what that red herring relates to whatsover). If homosexuality was an absolute central tenet of his mission on Earth then you may have a point.
You talk about *sin* - you may also recall about taking the log out of your own eye before taking the speck out of another is a sin. Jesus did talk about that in most serious terms. Maybe (it might be so) that homosexuality is a sin that is a but a speck (at least from God's view) - yet your own stance that of religious pride and legalism and judgmentalism is the log, the most serious stumbling block in your life, that you cannot perceive as you attempt to remove other people's specks. It was just so for the Pharisees.

I would like to say to you that when you survived on a stipend, God did not come through for you, you came through for him! The test was yours not his. I think you should look at this current scenario in the same way. When God says leave you must leave but honestly if your bishop is who you serve then Calvins point is you cannot serve two masters. It's either God, whose word is clear around all this same sex heresy that has invaded the church, or your bishop. This is the point at which you need to make a choice. God is faithful, but he will try your faith.
And he will always provide-again and again and again.
Read the life of George Muller, and be strengthened.
“What he’s (God) done for others, he will do for you.”

Dear Dan, we feel your dilemma. I think Dan, you know Calvin is right. You are faithful to the Lord. Your congregation is called to be faithful to the Lord, not the church.
I hope you have more conversations with Calvin. Your congregation must not hold you back or cause you to disobey the Lord. Don't let them make you feel guilty.
    Bless you

It is worrying what to do about our faith, as the C of E is in such a mess with the bishops turning evil, their is now no church in our area that is not demonic. At present i am listening to online churches,as it is the only way on a sunday, but still not able to take communion as probable other people may be in the same situation. God Bless.Stay safe🙏

Calvin could leave the C of E more easily because he did not have a flock of his own at the time. I think the priest does have a responsibility to his flock, I can understand the dilemma.
Crunch time for me would be if SS blessings were forced on everyone and what happens in November is critical.
I have been C of E all my life, and I don't WANT o leave.
    God bless you.

Those of us who are truly united in Christ must put on the full armour of God and stand together. It's the gospel that's important and there are so many people who are not being given the opportunity to hear it. We're not going to be having the retirement we were expecting as my husband is now to lead a New Frontiers church plant in rural Cornwall. Currently, we've got no launch team, no budget and no place to meet. What we have is a great God, a wonderful message to share, people committed to pray for us from the wider network of churches and, as you say, the 'newer' denominations are standing firm on Biblical Truths. What is being preached from the Church of England pulpits hereabouts ranges from miracles aren't literal, universal salvation to full-on progressive Christianity where all creeds are recited but rejected. The Methodists are selling their chapels for housing and won't consider allowing another denomination to use those spaces. Odd times.

Rev Dan you have much more cred than Robinson who is hardly a pastor , don’t bow down to his intimidation no matter the pressure to leave. Even John Stott wouldn’t bow down to Martyn Lloyd-Jones at the famous 1966 meeting at Westminster central hall and MLJ is completely on another level to Robinson to boot. Your priority is feed your flock so stay with them! I am btw an evangelical methodist minister and former faith mission evangelist of thirty years standing. Blessings on you, Rev Dr John

I remember when some of us left the Church of England over the women's ordination. Our priest left, I left and one other, but most of the congregation stayed. That congregation has since greatly diminished, a tiny fraction of what it used to be, so I guess while people didn't initially leave, many must have drifted away since and the older ones passed on following the upset. Although the later decline could have been for other reasons.

Such a challenging conversation. There'll be different points of view in relation to how to respond - stay or go? A real dilemma! Keep listening for God's voice and calling, Dan - it will be there somewhere amongst all the noise of advice and opinion. Elijah heard it...Samuel heard it...Abraham heard it...and faithful believers today will hear it too. God bless you.🙏

This was a fascinating one for me as I know Calvin from his presence in the media that I follow. I think he puts forth a good deal of sense in that arena and it was very interesting for me to hear him speak in his 'real' role as a Christian priest.
I am not a Christian in terms of applying that label to myself but, by virtue of being born English in the 60's, I am de facto Christian in what my views on morality and fairness are. Also, altho' I am not officially Christian and, indeed, have some issues with stances and acts that the Church has been involved in in times past, I am definitely of the belief that without the glue of the Church to hold things together then the social fabric unravels. That belief has sprung from what I have seen with my own eyes as I have witnessed my country starting to come apart and seen that those in power are so visibly corrupt and self serving now.
The death of the Queen will hasten that collapse I fear, as she was the last vestige of stability from the Old World that was keeping things steadier than they otherwise would have been. I don't think that our King has it in him to fulfil the role - it is no fault of his own but he has been 'in waiting' for far too long and to fit himself into such a strictured position at his age is too difficult an ask.
So there is a natural vacuum that I think it will be necessary for religion to fill - and I can't believe I am saying that! We need something to show clear and plain what is moral and what is not or we shall wither in a slow collapse of poisonous relativism.
EDIT: And the strangest of things at the very end there; my reaction to your saying Grace together was a deep one, causing tears to spring to my eyes. No idea what that is all about but it certainly caught me by surprise.

I feel the same way. Born in the 1970's and had smatterings of Christianity throughout childhood, although I don't consider myself to have faith. I do think there is a massive vacuum since the Queen's death, she was a stabilising presence that I don't feel the King provides.

Apostasy is everywhere in our churches, the following of the scripture has been changed to suit the world, not to be truthful in the way of the word of truth. We are living in a world that is worried , scared to speak the truth, this is stated in the bible the fall of our great church. Our spiritual well-being is crucial in the true pastors and vicars that follow the truth of the Gospel and our Lord Jesus Christ. The wages of Sin is death, the Bishops and Archbishops will pay as their sin in changing the bible to suit the world, not the truth of God will be paid by our Gods wrath, Romans 6:23 God Bless Calvin and Rev Dave 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Consequently I was baptised into the Orthodox Church thirty years ago. I have never regretted it and thank God for it daily. Orthodoxy is the fullest expression of the gospel and the holy fathers. I know going off and starting your own church outside of an organisation is maybe not your way and like Calvin or Rev.Brett you might walk into another Church but, there have been thousands, probably more than thousands of people who were called to start their own churches (which are not subject to such heresies) and they’ve stepped out in faith. Often started home groups first then renting small buildings.
They’re stories of how they’ve done things, under Gods direction, their journey of faith in accomplishing are very encouraging.
I’d say read these stories because they will encourage your faith. Build your faith. You want the Isaac not Ishmael anyway.
In Gods timing, I’d also focus you mind on Christ, in the Bible we see countless times where it’s in Gods timing, Saul comes to mind here, God will speak to other people because we are a Family of God not an organisation and He cares for you and your Family but stepping out in Faith and Living by Faith will surely bring testimonies of Gods goodness. Trust Fully and step by step.
We are who God is working through and working for today this Generation we are it. Just as prayer went up, God answered through Moses, not directly to them, God is working behind the scenes for you, trust Him.
