Sorry, I don't mean to be uncharitable. There are three things that stop me from Catholicism. 1. I can't get past the veneration of Mary. I honor her as the mother of our Lord, but I do not think praying to her is good faith practice. 2. The veneration of saints, and see my same issues as with Mary. This is also why I could not consider Eastern Orthodoxy as well. 3. The current pope is wishy washy and does not lead on a clear manner. 4. Papal inerrancy. The scriptures are inerrant, but a man? I can't ascribe to that. Yes I know Justin Welby is wishy washy and never stands up to progressives, but I am not joining the C of E, but the Anglican Church ( ACNA). Who knows in the future my mind could be changed, but as of right now I am good with the Anglican church. Forgive my first snarky comment as I do not wish to disrespect anyone's commitment to their faith.

    • @patriottex4813
      @patriottex4813 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

Reasons 1 and 2 the veneration of Mary and the saints. I believe we should not make our prayers to anyone but God, through our intercessor Jesus Christ. 3. The current pope is not a clear leader, he is muffled in many of his writings and embraced progressivism more than he should. 4. Papal inerrancy is not something I can convince myself of at all. The inerrancy of Scripture, yes, but the Pope? I can't go there. Please forgive my snark in the previous comment. I am still In the sanctification process and I am far from perfect. I am good with my Anglican ( ACNA) Church at present. Am I open to eventually embracing Catholicism? Sure, but right now, I am not there.

@@patriottex4813 Hello, no offense taken :) I was simply curious. One could perhaps argue a little bit with what you are saying, to hint that maybe some Lutheranism could do the job as well as the Anglican church (forgive me, but I don't know the various divisions in the Anglican church - are the several of them, not in communion?). Another thing that struck me is how highly Calvin R speaks about the Catholic Church, so since you admired him, well, I thought perhaps you agreed.
But yes, I think your faith matters to others. I think so very much. In fact, I happen to believe we are one body. Or we should be *one* body. And a body is visible. I think we should all mourn daily that the Church is not united, because unity was what Jesus prayed for (John 17), unity like the Father and the Son! Not a trifling matter. I hope you maintain your zeal for truth!

"The origin of “meek” in English comes from the Old Norse mjukr, meaning “gentle,” though perhaps a fuller understanding comes from the Greek origin, praus, which is translated as “strength under control.” In ancient Greece, war horses were trained to be meek - strong and powerful yet under control and willing to submit."

She was a wealthy socialite, divorced from her first husband and married to her second, Ernest Simpson, at the time she met the Prince of Wales. Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by The Word of God. Are you reading the Bible? My suggestion is that you read The Gospel of John, then carry on, and read The Acts of the Apostles.
Both John and Luke write with an immediacy which screams, "Genuine! This all really happened!"
Some other recommendations are C.S. Lewis' Mere Christianity, G.K. Chesterton's The Everlasting Man, N.T. Wright's The Resurrection of the Son of God.
God doesn't ask us to believe without evidence. He has given us abundant evidence. It's there for you, The Everlasting Treasure. Everything depends on your receptiveness to it.
Always, the Gospel must be held uppermost in mind. To me, it's most beautifully expressed in John 11: 25, 26.

Totally disagree about sex being only for reproduction. A good God gives us orgasms so that we can have an amazing experience in sexual acts with our spouse. Our loving God wanted us to enjoy sex with our spouse. That is why we orgasm. That is why all research shows a woman has the best orgasms in marriage. Sex also builds trust, it’s us showing how much we love our spouse, we want to give them pleasure.
Reproducing children could have been done with a functional act. But our loving God wanted us to have fun with our spouse and have an amazing time having sex together.
People chase after one night stands, multiple partners in the time period, cheating etc because they think they will be fulfilled by these deviances. And they find they are never satisfied with them.

Unlike Orthodoxy or Catholicism it cannot claim original linage to the apostles and as its common knowledge as to why it was founded (aka so a King could divorce) there is no good reason, imho, as a Christian to chose it over those two or even other Protestant groups.

But the church is not founded on nationhood, but rather on Christ. Lauding the CofE as synonymous with Englishness verges on and ultimately is worship of the Nation. That is why it is built on sand.
I know that CofE claims apostolic succession through branch theory and heritage of the Anglo Saxon and Celtic Christianity... but none of those existed autonomous from Rome. It is a fact that post Reformation in England was a fracture from before. So, whatever CofE likes to think, it is broken off. There are many good things in it, but it is broken away. Likewise, the exaltation of Englishness is a flaw for the reason I said earlier. And historically has produced rather ugly attitudes towards Catholicism as "foreign" even though it clearly is not.

Rubbish. Christianity has more then plenty to say to young people, but the sirens of the secular world, are difficult to resist. To accept the syndrome of only older congregants filling the pews, adds fuel to the ongoing decay and decline of the COE. Quite the reverse is now happening with Traditionalist Catholics, who attend the traditonal Latin Mass. It is young people, and young families with children, who not only make up a substantial share of the attendants, but are the very engines driving the movement. There is a saying inTraditionalist circles, which states that if it ain't cryin, its dyin.

@LUIS-ox1bv you know what the Christian Church has to say to young people? The parable of the prodigal son. Go out and try a lot of sin and if you decide you don't really like it we will all sing hallelujah when you come back.
Well, that's exactly what young people do. You can hardly blame them for following what they are told. I'm one of them.

@@PGHEngineerif you come back with a spirit of genuine repentance. That is the true message. Without that coming back does nothing at all. The catch is many people get so lost along the way they are too proud to ask for forgiveness and repent. If our hearts are true God forgives. This is a message to all not just young people. It should be be a wake up call but also fill us with joy that we are so loved and given endless chances. God bless you my friend ❤

Christ was lucid and clear on his teaching concerning divorce. Cafeteria Christianity, which cherry picks what tenets are convenient and relative to one's given situation, is what deflates the purpose of Christianity. This is nothing but a church of niceness, which negates the proper role of sacrifice and suffering. Christianity without the Cross.

Reformation History on Andrew Melville, Scottish Reformation Minister:
"In 1596 Melville made a famous speech where he reminded the king again that ‘there are two kings and two kingdoms in Scotland.’ As well as king James ‘There is Christ Jesus, the King of the Church, whose subject James the Sixth is, and of whose kingdom he is not a king, nor a lord, nor a head, but a member.’"

Friend, Christ is the King of Kings. Before him all the kings of the earth shall cast their golden crowns on bended knee.
Monarchy properly ordered is a very Christian practice with a very long history. We all need leaders. Charles III is anointed king by the Archbishop of Canterbury in the name of Christ as his humble servant (whether he lives up to that role is another matter). Few republican styled nations so explicitly acknowledge their subservience to God in their election of leaders.
In this sense Charles III is a vassal king under the great King, Jesus Christ.
      Something to think on.
      God be with you.

Charles and Camilla didn't marry in a church, the Church still held the line. So they married in a registry office. Because of Henry VIII there is no law of a divorcee being king. Thus the Church's hands were tied (even if the Church has lost all compass on the matter).

There is also nothing in the Bible at all to say marriage and sex are for reproduction only. Song of Songs - a Book in the Bible - is basically a set of poems about a woman pining for her husband and wants him home from work asap. It is also about God’s love for us. Same with the Book of Hosea - all about sec within a marriage where no children are spoken about being an analogy for God’s love for us.
The Bible states that sex is for marriage but nowhere does it say that sex is for reproduction only.

The issue with religious men is that they don‘t know female nature, especially female sexuality.
„There is no rest, there is no respite or reprieve from performing, but so strong is the desire for that unconditional love assurance that men thought it prudent to write it into
"traditional" marriage vows - 'for better or for worse, for richer or for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love, cherish, and obey, forsaking all others until death do you part' - in other words, a pledge of unconditional love in spite of all circumstance. Those vows are a direct plea for insurances against a female hypergamy that would otherwise be unfettered were it not made in the context of being before God and man.“
