Imagine you get darted, pass out, and wake up right back where you started with a full mani-pedi, soft untangled hair, and clean teeth. What a strange experience.
So glad for the post-video message. And I love how everyone at Alveus comes across as professional but also compassionate. It's great to see such a disciplined approach to conservation that doesn't come across as cold or detached.
@@silvercoastline you definitely wasn’t alone. I was tearing up hearing Connor knowing it would affect his relationship with them but knowing he had to do it. Next time he should dress up as Custard and let him take the heat 😄
Imagine living a life where u get knocked out and when u wake up ur teeth are brushed, hair is done, medicines applied... It's insane the love these people have for the animals. It energizes me. Love to see it!
I love how Connor explains things it’s very succinct, I don’t know if he’s had teaching experience but if he does it shows! Thanks for taking care of the animals!
awwww Connor they were just sulking 😆🥹 I get it though, I had the same worries when my cat was mad at me for taking her to the vet for the first time 😝
i love having the alveus streams open in the background because i always hear awa and timber howling at night its so sweet. you guys are doing an amazing job so glad to have found the channel!
From the ground, you can’t really see how big the enclosure is. That aerial shot is WILD. A lot of people complain about the cage size of different sanctuaries, but seeing them from above in scale is crazy. They got room to R U N.
I know you guys are super experienced but I recently finished my wildlife chemical immobilization training and am itching to share with other viewers! At 3:33 PSA sometimes when you put the sleeve over the needle the holes are not completely covered (or the sleeve has a fault), so when the needle is pressurized medication still squirts out and ofc this can be really dangerous! Because of this I've always reccomended putting the cap on the needle before the dart is pressurized rather than after, just in case. Having the dart pointed away from you is important, but beyond getting splashed the medication can be aerisolized when it squirts, and having the needle capped before pressurization will help minimize risk of exposure.
As an actively practicing RVT (11 years and going!)I was so excited to hear Connor has veterinary technician experience! ❤️ people don’t realize that dexmedetomidine is used in general practice clinic for fast procedures. It’s a great sedative!
If I recall correctly, these pups are nearly a decade old, so artritis and other age related issues are a given. People need to be aware that unfortunately it's unlikely these pups will be around much longer than 3-4 years.
I'm so proud of the work you do to help animal likes Awa and Timber!! I wanna cry for some reason imagining them not liking you when you love them so much so yay. You're in the pack again ;;u;;
Thank you for explaining the ProHeart! I'm a dog and cat vet tech and I've been wondering what kinds of preventatives the wolf-dogs could/should be on.
My childhood dog used to COMPLETELY ignore me after a trip to the vet. He would respond to everyone else, but if I said his name he would purposely look the other way. The next day he'd always be back to normal, following me around and hanging out like nothing happened. I was always sad for that one day, but in the end they still know you love them and they'll forgive you!
thank you for teaching and showing us these things 😊 i almost feel like it'd be worse if they didn't need to be put under (in context of them staying mad at you), because if they were awake they'd have a clear memory of the "incident". also i couldn't be mad if i got free spa treatment honestly lmao. glad to hear they're both doing alright. the howl at the end was so cool 🐺
So sorry the darting that you did for their best life, caused them to mistrust you after. I know you dreaded that possible outcome. You will get back to be part of their pack.
@8:56 “I used to think of myself as a one man wolf pack. But when I brought my wife home i knew she was one of my own! And my wolf pack, it grew by one. So there were two of us in the wolf pack. I was alone in the wolf pack, and then my wife joined in later. And 4 months ago, when my wife introduced me to Awa and Timber, I thought, wait a second, could it be? And now i know for sure, I just added two more wolves to my wolf pack. Four of us wolves, running around Alveus Sanctuary together” -Connor 😂
I'm happy to see that they were OK the next morning. BUt I also kind of expected it. Most animals will need time to process what happened, especially if they have some memory loss. But if they feel better, and safe, they should go back to their normal self.
Imagine you get darted, pass out, and wake up right back where you started with a full mani-pedi, soft untangled hair, and clean teeth. What a strange experience.
I want that
dream come true!!
That sounds good actually, take the maintenance out of my hands
And now the wolves still like Connor ♥️
They even LOVE him i think
I'm glad the wolfdogs don't hate Connor. It was cool to hear Awa's howl at the end.
Imagine passing tf out and waking up with way less hair.
The night barber got em!
Sounds like a rotten sleepover
I love Connor and the wolfdogs relationship!
Why does that aerial shot of Connor running with them have me sobbing
So glad for the post-video message. And I love how everyone at Alveus comes across as professional but also compassionate. It's great to see such a disciplined approach to conservation that doesn't come across as cold or detached.
Even seeing them interact with staff daily, you got a much better sense of their scale when they were up on that table for the check-up
ending with the howl ... amazing
that howl needs to be worked into alveus's media materials!
@@alveolate for sure
WTF WHYY AM I AM SOBBING. DUDE I LOVE THESE ANIMALS AND PROPS TO THE TEAM. SOO COOL
Saaameee 😭 And Connor was able to rejoin the paaaack *blubbering*
@@surfingthedarkness Then the beautiful Awa howl!!! Come onnnn
almost did too xD Full on goosebumps on hearing the howl
Connor needed a physical after that initial run
xD
wow seeing the enclosure from a birds-eye view really shows just how beautiful it's come along. Great work as always Alveus!!
Tell me why I teared up like an idiot especially with Awa howling at the end 😂🥲 amazing job!!

Seeing Connors love for them was heartwarming. This channel brings me Joy.
awwww Connor they were just sulking 😆🥹 I get it though, I had the same worries when my cat was mad at me for taking her to the vet for the first time 😝
Its incredible how fast they adjusted to Alveus especially with how you weren't expecting them to trust you for a good year, great work team
Oh yeah woo yeah!
This is so cool! (also, slow mo guys has an in depth video on how a dart works in slow mo too, if people want to see that)
It's been so great seeing updates on them through the twitch clips. They seems SO happy!!! ❤
Thanks for sharing these! The wolvies seem to be doing great since the vet checkup. Happy you got to rejoin the pack Connor!
Is this Connor from Worlds wildest podcast?
yes
😂
I think there was even a cameo from Maya from World’s Wildest podcast!
These animals get better taken care of than pretty much all dog's i've ever known.
Good job damn it !
Aww it makes me so happy to see the puppers so well taken care of❤
I loved this video, 10/10 more of this style of vlog plss
