That must be weird and difficult not having any rebound. Also impressed with your ability to have the headset facing the drums and cymbals you’re hitting because I always look away to the left a lot of the time when playing but I guess you have to without being able to feel them.
@SabrosoShantee34 That's not what they meant. It's more of the fact of hitting something that's not there, which is off-putting. Irl drums require more coordination, but this requires a lot of skill, too.
I tried paradiddle months back and drumming without physical feedback is so hard. I am amazed you could do this. Unless you set up a physical set and mirrored their location in VR.
This is where I'm at. Coming from being used to actually being able to hit things, not getting the rebound off the drum head or cymbal makes my arm tire out real quickly and I constantly go *through* the drums and cymbals and hit things beneath them, not to mention how much heavier the index controllers are than a stick. Feels like the sticks really need a physical interaction in game to stop them from clipping through. How would you go about using a physical set? Like I could see having an electric set just unplugged but in the real locations but what would be tracking your sticks if you're not using a controller?
You can plug a MIDI keyboard into your PC and Paradiddle maps it to in-game drums. I'd bet they are doing that in this at least for the kick and hat pedals. Bought it today and played around for half an hour, it's fun and only takes a short while to get used to the lack of "feedback". The main issue for me is the hand tracking is really jank on quest, there's noticeable lag playing over steam link, and playing the kick drum with your finger feels gross but I'm told a Guitar Hero / rock band drum pedal plugged into the PC aux port will work as a trigger.
Caravan and I'll buy it. (But seriously, huge props for making this! I've looked for a drum VR game countless times a while back, and I'm really glad I found this, probably buying it soon, thanks devs!)
