My sister used to feed her livestock watermelon seeds, veggie with seeds and she went out in her field and she had a huge watermelon patch lol. It was great. Not fun to think about how they came to existence but hey, they were delicious 😂

I like to freeze lemon slices to put in my water! Just loosely in a container or flat in a freezer bag so they don't freeze in a clump. I live alone so i've found that this is an excellent way of still having lemon in my drinks without them going bad in my fridge :D

I always keep lemon slices for drinks in my freezer, not just cold drinks but frozen lemon slices are great for tea too. They give you lemon tea and cool it down for drinking. I keep lime slices too, great to flavour water too.

Jamerill, save the water you boiled in your eggs and use it in your garden, its a great source of calcium for your plants. I use my egg water, egg shells, banana skins and coffee grounds, grind them up in your food processor and they're FAB for your houseplants or garden plants.

I have found that the bones from Costco chickens make amazing broth/ stock. I buy the chickens and strip the meat and freeze it for meals and use the bones for the stock. The chickens are cheaper than buying them raw and the seasoning on them is amazing in the stock.

My guess on your seedlings is that the heat mats should have been turned off when the seedling/first leaves appeared. Next year, maybe don't plan to be away during seed sprouting time. But, you will still have a wonderful garden. Thank you for the reminder of yummy jar salads. I've Ben prepping them in black restaurant-type bowls and enjoying the ones that don't freeze in my fridge. Haha

Our cofffee pot stop working after few months also. But someone told me to use a toothpick and stick it into the little pointy part that puts holes in the pod and to use them on the spout where coffee comes out.The spout where it comes out was clogged and the tooth pick worked in getting all the bits out of the openings in the spout . Every time i have problem i do that and its been working fine after cleaning that part . for years now.

I will say, I hear ya on the Keurig but did you know that you’re ‘supposed’ to use filtered water only in them? I did not, and I can’t tell you how many of them I’ve ‘clogged’ up using tap water (and I’m on a well). I just use filtered water from my Fridge … know you don’t have that BUT, it HAS extended the life-span of my latest Keurig. It’s going on 6 years old now!!

I'm sorry to see your seedlings looking so bad. It looks like they were over watered and wasn't able to drain and dry. The roots most likely rotted. The best thing to do is probably reseed. I've done that more than once. Glad to see you enjoyed your vacation and that you are all back home safe.

Gardening When It Counts by Steve Solomon is a gardening book I'm currently reading. I'm only half way through, but I have learned so much.
On your pepper seeds is the store in you garden zone? One thing he talks about is how seed companies sale seeds that are mainly for the zone they are located in.
(The author started Territorial Seed Company in 1980, and then sold it in 1985 and seems very knowledgeable.)

Ohh thoes poor seedlings. Ahh well. Next time make sure the heat mats get turned off as soon as you see seedlings poking through. They dry out the dirt really fast and accelerate growth so they get leggy really fast. Somethings you might be able to start again. Also tomatoes are more forgiving with leggy plants because you can literally burry all of the stem and it will grow roots.

You could just put the salad dressing cups in the bottom of the jars, then none of the veggies will sit in it.

We’ve been buying cuisinart brand coffee makers, but even those have only been lasting 6-12 months. The kuerigs have not been lasting. We do have hard water so we use filtered water but just can’t make them last.

It's time to transplant tomato seedlings. I use solo cups with holes on the bottom and potting soil. Peppers take a longer time to germinate. I forget every year, but they will eventually germinate. Should be started about a month before tomatoes.

Good to know, I guess I will be buying pepper plants this year, depending on how things go. I’m definitely going to a pot my tomatoes this week.

I'm in Missouri and it took my seedlings almost 3 weeks outside to germinate. I was so happy to see them sprout. I have to thin them out now.

Hey Jamerrill. Loving the videos. Quick question, could you add tomatoes to the jar salads or would they go off? Thanks

My Kerig died after 4 months of using it too! I called Kerig and they replaced it for free. There was something in the electronic part of it that stopped working so it was nothing that I did wrong.
