    1978 is :
-the first World Cup where a player from the winning country was playing in a foreign club.
-the only World Cup where a free agent was playing for the winning country.

Check on transfermarkt, in 1978 tarantini was at birmingham. Any explanation maybe?, The most logical way is his previous club (boca junior) not extend his contract and the league already ended meanwhile the english league not ended yet make him free agent during world cup final before he move to birmingham.

You would be right if it wasn't by the fact that a Uruguayan player from the 1950 world cup squad was playing in River Plate from Argentina.
Edit: I just remembered that both the Uruguayan league and Argentine league have a team named River Plate my apologies.

Fun fact: Héctor Castro, striker of Uruguay's squad in 1930, was the first and last player with one arm to play at a world cup. At the age of 13, he accidentally cut his arm off with a chainsaw, giving him the name "El Manco" (the one armed). Castro scored two goals in the tournament, with one of them being in the World Cup Final against Argentina.

Fun facts: two players from Brazil's 1958 team are still alive - Pelé and Zagallo. And Zagallo himself, other than participating as a player both in 1958 and 1962, was the coach of the 1970 Brazil team, thus being the first person to win the World Cup both as player and coach (and one of three who achieved the feat). His last work as a coach was in 2001 at the head of Flamengo, with which he won a state championship and made it to the 2001 Copa Mercosul's final (which Flamengo lost to San Lorenzo).
Last year (2019), at the ceremony that awarded the Brazilian Championship's best players (which was almost entirely dominated by Flamengo's squad), he made his first public appearance in many years to congratulate the already legendary 2019 Flamengo team that won the Brazilian Championship and the Libertadores with record-breaking performances.
Zagallo truly is a living football legend :3

One important info is that these lineups are the starting lineups of the final, and not the starting lineups of the tournament. So some important players are missing due to red card/injury/ tactical reason.
    Examples
1998: Laurent Blanc (red card)/ Thierry Henry (tactical)
    2002: Emerson (injury)
2006: Alessandro Nesta (injury)/ De Rossi - Alex Del Pierro (tactical)
2010: Cesc Fabregas, Fernando Torres (tactical)
2014: Sami Khedira (injury in WARM UP), Mario Goetze the "golden goal" scorer came as a substitution

I have to say these videos are excellently done, kept simple no in your face music. No annoying narration. Just pure facts and I like the way it is displayed and shows the profile images a second time, and where the same players reappear they are left on screen or moved. Very well done. If I could give it two likes I would. It must have taken a long while to research and compile.

I would even dare to say that 2006 had a better team than 1994 but they also didnt suceeded. Fun fact: Originally, Uruguay's 1930 goalkeeper was Andrés Mazzali who was a very talented athlete, won the 1924 and 1928 olympic gold medals as Uruguay's keeper. He also was southamerican champion of 400 meters hurdles (breaking southamerican record 5 times). He also was a great basketball player, he won Uruguay's basketball league of 1923 playing for Olimpia. They say he used to be a striker in minor leagues but when he got to the pro leagues he became a goalie as he couldn't find shoes big enough to fit his feet. One night previous to the world cup he escaped from the hotel to meet a stunning blonde woman who had been in the hotel that same afternoon. It looks like the woman was related to an associate and when the federation found out, he was immediately kicked out of the tournament. José Nasazzi (team's captain) and other teammates asked the coach Alberto Supicci to not kick him but he refused. Mazzali was replaced with Enrique Ballesteros
