Ill remember this BGT, how it exposed the superstar culture of India. Great result, we needed that. This happens when you play cricket for the sake of market instead of playing cricket for the sake of the sport. All the Indians want are ads and brands, while all that the Australians focused on was the sport. Australia were a team of stars, while India were stars put in a team. As simple as that.
True words People dont understand who are playing for country and who are for Adv's Indians where looking foolish and gully cricket guys while playing on fields. Aus where much mature calm and their focus was only to win. I heard many interviews of Aus players all thy said is "Job is Done" We have very poor mindset
Look aggression is 100%required ,but getting obsessed with aggression were poor , especially Virat and Siraj , I don t think the others were too abusive, may be Prasiddh on the 4th test, otherwise majority of Indian players Played calmly, this didn't happen during Rahane's captaincy in 20-21 series,@@AsifShaikh-kb4wj
A shout out to the paying and touring Indian cricket fans. I met loads of Indian fans during this BGT (I travelled from Singapore) coming from the US, England and Canada. We practically subsidise cricket for the rest of the world. Leaving the Indian cricket team itself aside which has this terrible superstar culture and ignore the online trolls, a lot of us travel because of a genuine love for the game. Made a lot of Aussie friends too, even found myself getting shit faced at Paramatta with a random bloke I met at the ground, made it back to the hotel in the CBD with no recollection of how I went to Paramatta or how I got back! Good times! Finally, the cricket watching experience in Australia was simply superb. There were free water refills, sunscreen, etc, being handed out, washrooms were clean and well maintained everywhere, several F&B choices and excellent security. The transport to and back on trains etc was also free with the match ticket. Great from CA and the grounds themselves. Thank you for having us!
Glad you had a good time. Haven’t been to the cricket in 15 years I reckon. But on tv and radio it sounds like the games had good and lively crowds. 👍 from 🇦🇺
Out of the three Aussie debutants this summer, Beau Webster looked probably the most at ease at the international level, he can well be a long term prospect, considering the fact that he can also ball decent off spin in the sub continent
Perfectly summarised, India's selections let them down. Too many allrounders, lack of 4th fast bowler, Nitesh Reddy lacked pace to worry batsmen but took important wickets. India's two last bowlers standing ran out of steam, too much expected to defend 150 with those two. Prasidh should have played in all matches as a back up to other bowlers.
Really enjoyed your analysis and takedowns throughout this wonderful series. BTW the Kohli sandpaper mocking was in response to the Aussies showing footage of Bumrah taking out something from his shoe suggesting it was a sandpaper he was hiding LOL
Love this podcast, truly underrated and Quarters is spot on a lot of things. One, is Virat is one of the finest batsman to grace Australian shores and the sandpaper dig was hilarious and that Sunny Gavaskar should have been called to the dais to present a trophy, where his name is 50% of the trophy.
Confirmation bias means we see new information in a way that matches what we already believe. In cricket this is often shown in the saying *Form is temporary class is permanent.* It’s a comforting idea but it can make us ignore reality especially when talking about big players like Rohit Sharma & Virat Kohli. When Gautam Gambhir was picking the Indian team for BGT campaign many fans were unhappy with the trust placed in Rohit & Virat. Even though they didn’t perform well during this WTC cycle their fame & experience meant they were still key players on Gambhir’s list. Former players & experts often defend them talking about how great they are when in form. _Rohit & Virat can still win games on their day_ they say. But maybe they’re too close to the game & too attached to their legacy. The harder truth is this..Have Rohit & Virat gone from being players who *can* win games to players who *could* win games? The saying *Form is temporary class is permanent* is popular in cricket but it doesn’t fit every situation. It’s often used as an excuse for poor performances protecting players instead of encouraging honest evaluation. Some experts use it to explain anything. If Rohit & Virat fail it’s just bad form. If they do well once in five games it’s proof of their class. But this way of thinking ignores the data. Depending on how you see it Rohit & Virat are either helped or hurt by this bias. The real question isn’t about their talent it’s about whether they can still perform consistently for India. At some point past success must step aside for current performance...
Finally, I came across a really sensible comment. If you say 'class is permanent', going by that logic Sachin and Dravid should be playing even today because they are the classiest guys. Winning the World Cup is not about finding the 'best team' as such because if that were the case then FIFA would have just handed over the trophy to the highest-ranked team after the end of the 3rd season. The idea of the World Cup is to have 30-35 teams gathered in a particular venue, and under similar or likewise conditions, the teams try to climb through a hierarchical trajectory where ultimately one 1 is crowned as the Champions.
What's next for India is to stop putting all those helpers around the boundary that were saving players energy and time to fielding the ball. They even fielded the ball inside the boundary a few times. It has to stop.
The Sydney pitch has new grass on it so they can leave it there all year long but this was only the second year they had used it and because of the weather in Sydney the groundsmen put a little to much water on it
rain was predicted, no one predicted bumrah to go down. Still we would take 3-2 over 3-1 . But aus were better side and time and memorial, our selections let us down. If we had dropped kohli and rohit after 3rd test, this would have still been 1-1 series. We need extra batting to secure them, we would have played with 7 batsmen and 4 bowlers if they werent there. Ashwin would have got chance to play all matches. So somewhere selections were hampered because of two liabilites.
Thanks to the whole team at West Sport Show for providing by far the best review of each and every game this series. Glen and Jackson have done a fantastic job. Some great questions and answers, unbiased analysis, undoubtedly the best introduction to the podcast after each game. Both of you have done a great justice to the game we all love and are so passionate about. India and Australia have a common denominator which is cricket. Love the rivarly both home and overseas.
Sunil Gavaskar should have been called up. I hope and I wish India retaliate - make sure to Invite and Gracefully have Allan Boarder and Sunil Gavaskar do the series honours next time. We cannot be disgraceful to our legendary cricketers like what Cricket Australia did.
Apparently the hosting duties had been agreed on beforehand. Gavaskar would have hosted if India had won, and Border was in line if Australia won. No big deal.
Jackson Barrett, Mate - Sorry to say - your newspaper‘s reports that were run during this series were absolutely crass, sub standard and unprofessional. Editing photos of players like school kids, calling Indians “sooks” at every chance and extremely partial to your home team, is not the right journalism. This is not the kind of stuff you would want to frame and put it up in your home and look at it 25 years down the line. Absolute crap newspaper reports!
This is an excellent podcast but the West Australian is a shit paper. If you follow AFL you will know how they treated the West Coast coach when he was sacked. Lowest common denominator journalism
never in any indian newspaper you would see the same things for opposition, there will always be decorum for players even in criticism so this really was a shitshow from aus media, although not surprising
The Aussie would win just the same with Bumrah or no Bumrah 160 thats not a problem if Josh Hazelwood was fit and playing team in could bowled out for less than a hundred
Khawaja should have retired after the Sydney Test. He is now 38 yrs old which is older than what Ponting was when he retired. By the next Ashes, he will be 39 meaning he'll be older than pretty much any great was upon retirement (keeping in mind Khawaja is not a great player compared to guys like Ponting).
Only indian team challanging Australia IN Australia and winning last 2 series in Australia... this time won 1 ....rest all tourist loosing 3-o , 4-0 🤣🤣🤣
@@bencrabtree5647 yes thats tough one and i am sure we will battle better when we let go of certain liabilites from the team and select players on merit. We still need to conquer england , we drew last time, nz 15 years have lapsed, and sa.

@@bencrabtree5647 ben i will not give exceuses that we havent played good cricket, etc. Fact is we continue to persist with out of perform players becuase they have experience and what happens is it tampers the playing level which can cause issues. The Indian public is massively upset about SG snub. Suggestions include ipl and tours down under. Very sad CA. Maybe you have attitude towards bcci as they control money?? It’s creates an impression of small mindedness. Rename it as Border T. What?
Missing this test series everyday. I hope you guys will have a podcast every week. Loves listening to Glenn talk's 🦜 I wish if we could have ended 2_2 but enjoyed every moment of the series.
Australians players can be dishonest and resort to excessive sledging , meaningful insults and cheap gestures to help them distract batters. Cricket , I thought was a gentlemen's game.
I've been watching Test cricket since 1979. This was as good a series as I've seen.
I can only imagine the legendary test series of 80s and 90s you would have been around for! You are right, this BGT was something out of the world :)
