He's been the best player in shield cricket in the last 10 years and used to batting on green tops at Bellerive. If he was from nsw or WA, he would have played much earlier but because he's Tasmanian he wasn't taken seriously
An excellent comment from the host around whether or not the increase in TV rights from the "tier 1" competition will trickle down to tier 2, otherwise all this does is kill test cricket in the "tier 2" countries. The other key issue is player retention and development. If the tier 2 countries dont get to play the best teams how will they improve? Theyll just come up and get dusted. And then what does this too to incentives for gun players in Tier 2 countries? Will they be willing to commit to test xricket if it means they only play lower ranked sides?
Sam Konstas's defensive game was absolutely terrible. Beau Webster though looked amazing and should be part of the Australian side for the next 5-6 years.
His defensive game was fine when he actually used it. He just needs to gain some more experience and understand when to leave, when to defend, and when to attack. That will come, he definitely has talent.

45:00 It's a good question. Steve Waugh/ Ricky Ponting's sides had better batsmen and 2 legendary bowlers. This generation has the best bowling quartet we have ever put on a field, and the fact they have all lasted this long is amazing. Hoff is a bit more injury prone now. However McGrath and Warne would be very challenging for todays (or any era's) batting lineup. It'd be very close, but I'd have to back the older team due to their greater batting depth and the sheer class of those batsmen.
Hayden Langer Ponting M Waugh/Clarke S Waugh Martyn Gilchrist beats Warner Khawaja marnus smith head green carey any day as a batting line up. The Indian cricket team must learn from Beau Webster's debut and prefer players with strong FC records over IPL prodigies. Guys like Harshit Rana might be immensely talented, but they must go through the FC grind before claiming a spot in the test team.
@@jetpark3743Not sure. Top guys like Rohit and Virat don't play FC cricket anymore. Jaiswal has come through FC ranks and he is clearly a beast. Brad.. thank you for highlighting this at 0:45 about Scotty Boland!! You guys (our selectors) are blind and gotta be kidding me... Scotty won the series for Australia. Sorry Brad, I have to say that you ex cricketers need to show some responsibility to emphasise more when you have the power of the MIC. Esp given he picked up 21 wickets at 13.19 ave and playing only 3 games just a shade more with Bumrah at 13.07 for 32 wickets. I bet he would have been very close to Bumrah's tally or prob more had he played all 5 matches. Our media hyped Bumrah and the fears.. without giving Scott Boland the morale we lost given his performance was more for the Aus dressing room. We made the same mistake in Eng last time during the ashes. The morale is more imp than anything period. Look at the WTC 2023 final and watch every wicket of Scott Boland and number of drops or misses for Scotty’s wickets. It breaks my heart that Scott Boland is a genius Aus does not respect like Michael Bevan/James Faulkner. Match winners for ever!!! 💔

I disagree with, Brad. The increased frequency will dilute the tournament. I lost interest in The Ashes when it was played four times within five years. Especially considering that England is not competitive in Australia. The same will happen to the BGT. Perhaps, the players will have a different opinion.
Beau was good with the batting but the bowling was slow medium pace. On a more flat wicket he will be very pedestrian. We need that 4th pace man who can hit 130 to 140 k's. He is also not a young man. There is still a dilemma there.
Cameron Green ? Plenty of young all rounders coming up (Aaron Hardie, Jack Edwards, etc). Definitely not as much of a dilemma as Australia has had with all-rounders
Webster's bowling is more than adequate. He isn't fast but he gets bounce and movement. His FC bowling average the last few years has been around 31 which is perfectly fine for the backup seamer.
Yes Icc is silly to give these poor cricket boards test states SL Ban, WI Ire, ....all these countries ate not good enough to play test in MCG, SCG, or Lords because they don"t bring enough money or Tv ratings everything depends on money
