It took me about 60 years, but I finally discovered what all the fuss was about. The biggest touring band? In my opinion, its about having a magical experience listening to these stories through genius lyrics and accompanied by a wonderful mix of instrumental flexibility that can let you be totally invested emotionally in the song. Each song takes you on a journey. And the variance of how each song is played, leaves you anticipating a new sensation or emotion. And when you are vested in the song, it enters your soul. Thus, the inability to prevent yourself expressing it through dance or whatever unusual motion suits you at that moment. John mayer plays the guitar through his soul. I can feel the story through the solos. Started listening to GD stuff occasionally about ten years ago. Now, it about all I listen to. A nice mellow strain of cannabis only accentuates the experience. And experiencing these songs in that manner cant help but make you a better person and world a bit better place. Its dead and company concert or bust going forward. A special thanks to Jerry Garcia, John mayer, Bob weir and all the band members, staff, and fans that made this happen.
Mellow strain shmellow shtain old timer I want that cannabis strain that hits like some lsd for optimal nature connection with a Dead soundtrack ya know. Gotta send it
These dead and company videos and being under the influence of cannabis continously 24 hrs for over a month was a bizarre experience that changed my life. It was part of my inspiration to start a podcast called Your Casino Experience. I didn't really sleep for about ten days had amazing clarity. It literally changed me as a person from the first podcast to today. Watch me change from a money driven podcast to an all charity podcast I can't believe that's me. It's a liberating feeling to cleanse your soul publicly to the whole planet under cannabis. It's like living real-time in your own movie of your life under DMT. Just absolutely life changing. I explain how the dead culture is misunderstood in one episode. This band helped change my life. I get it now. Finally, really get it. What a beautiful thing when you discover it. Love and peace to everyone in this wonderful community!
@@user-gh9si3po8t right on, man I'm so happy to hear that. It's beautiful and thank you for sharing with us, brother. Bless you abundantly in infinite showers of Love, health, strength, vitality, vigilance, Light, and prosperity 🕉🙏🏼😎
Cool , I first saw the Grateful Dead at the Spectrum in 1968 . Saw the Dead and Company on this tour in Phoenix where I now live . Glad the music is still being played 🙏👌🍺😊
I was at that show. But I think its one of my favorites ever. It's when Dead and Company truly broke out, fall of 2017. So interesting to watch now. That's when the gel gelled.
@@kevinborchers3522 I caught some of that fall tour. Was awesome. I think the '17 tour summer & fall was the best they've played but this most recent summer '22 tour comes close.
I really wish Bobby wouldn't put the pause in the lyric, it just gives the whole flow a 'hiccup'...also wish he would let Oteil or John sing eyes....but he's Bob fucking Weir and he's earned the right to do anything he wants with these songs...
If you ask me, well........he's just Bobby, isn't he? There's very few songs i really love his voice, but on rare occasions hes doing good. Unfortunately not in this song. But his guitar playing vastly improved over the years, i'm not talking about it technically. I mean in terms of doing the exact right thing, right space in the right time also! I do like his playing and all his performance much better then i did back then in the early nineties.. Man....i mean there where time i honestly thougt to myself if he'd put the guitar away it wouldn't do much harm to the song. For example 2nd. Concert Night in London, second Set, 5th. Song I had a bit to much Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds in my system i guess, during the second set i collapsed between row 11/12 and spent the rest of the evening ,flying up there somewhere, where that gigantic Dolby 6 point something System Speakers had been rigged up above our heads and dreamed away, dived full dive into the soundscape.....
one of my favorite dead songs. like to hear all the different iterations. favorite non dead versions Greensky bluegrass 2016 with Holly Bowling sitting in.
Man, best? I’d say most polished. But Pig, Keith, Brent, and Vince all had something special. Jeff is a hell of a player, but I wouldn’t put him above the others in anything except finesse, and in that case Vince was a monster musician as well (like Oteil is).
That's cool. I love Jeff....he's phenomenal on the piano, a bit weak on the B3. For my money it's Brent. He was a monster on keys & singing. And then there's Pig. Wasn't around to catch him unfortunately. Keith also had a good run during the Deads most creative era.
I was at that show, up in the nosebleeds on Jeff's side.Fantastic show, but honestly, I thought 6/20/16 at BB&T pavilion across the river in Camden was far better, especially Oteill's solo. He was spot-on perfect in Camden (they all were that show, I thought), but I thought he floundered a little on the back end of his solo here, and John stepped in and picked him up a little like a good bandmate.
This is my favorite dead song . Definitely not my favorite dead and co song . I didn’t think it was good . There are highlights but some pretty sour parts also
Som'n we all gotta figure out (that we are the eyes of the world) while there still is world, cuz if we're the eyes, we're also the mouth and hands & legs too. Given the now all too obvious climate chaos we can know ending deforestation & massive reforestation will stabilize and deep-sixing petroleum back where it belongs too, for starters.
This life is experiential. You had to be there to really get it. Cool thing is it's still happening in 2022 so the opportunity is still there for one to get it.
You're moving just a little too slow. It's beautiful though, but I'm just too tired these days to be persuaded to go to relaxation station. Much too young too. Not paying for that. Good for home listening, thank you for that, but there's much more desire and value and in going to shows. Perhaps this could put my six-year-old to sleep? Lol 💖
The rhythm guitar player and drummers are in their 70s and play 20min long songs. Wtf do ppl expect happens to ppl as they age? Can bill walton go play in the NBA finals?
Every song these guys play is so slow. Why?? The original GD played at a faster pace. These guys seem like they're playing half speed or something. Not diggin it.
More like 'Tired Eyes of the World'. Such an embarrassment to see what they've done. It ain't as bad as 94/95. But then again no band was worse live than 94/95 Dead
interesting opinion. great song, skillfully executed in my opinion. i saw GD a few times in 94/95...have to agree it was uneven but still some spectacular flashes.
Ha. That's humorous & a bit of an exaggeration I'd say. Jerry was winding down but I caught a lot of great shows in 94, 95. I think many would be willing to go back there to hear Jerry play one more time. NFA ⚘

good grief, this is phenomenal.

Just vibing, even in 2021
Marvelous! Jeff at the piano reminds me of Dave Brubeck and his Quartet in their heyday. D&C = Fun to Watch + Fun to Listen to. 😊
Awesome version

Wow! So good. Everyone is cooking 🔥...Jeff Chimenti is my hero
Best part of dead and co? How much fun bill and Mickey are having playing with John.
Chimenti, the piano guy, is is so great. Best version of "Eyes of the World" I've ever heard.
That's disrespectful. We don't take Jerry slander round these parts.
Best version without Jerry, I meant to day.

Hard to say but no argument here. They nailed it on this one.

If it's not going to be Phil, might as well be Oteil.....
