Thanks for the constant reminder that we don't have to be good to take photos ♥
Why is grainydays content so soothing, I feel so calm
Bro, is so calm that I never watch it before 4PM, especially during work days. I need hardcore music to be pumped, to work, if I watch Jason, I get the chill vibes that everything will be ok in the world :)))
Like a warm blanket
I know, I love it. The ambient music helps set the mood too. Good music choice on this video.
I watch/listen while I'm working.
Wake up, babe! The budget version of Ryan Gosling just uploaded another banger!
It's literally him!
All Ways 99 Ryan Gosling. 😅
Adding a microphone inside your helmet and having two types of Jason talking in the video (the recording Jason and the Jason in action) is adding a very nice layer in the narration and the overall rythm of a road trip video !
14:26 "this photo sucks" i personally think that was the best photo up until that point in the video.
I think the one at 23:34 too
@@HoangDang-pw1tz yeah, these definitely weren't his best shots in this video.
i don't know why it sucks
The photo of the bus and rhe bike was really good though
The constant grind of grainy saying a photo is bad and me screaming at my monitor that I love them 😞
High point was Jason scratching his junk at 17:08. A bold, brave, and epoch-defining moment of cinema that can't be unseen.
Never get tired of your roadtrip film vlogs and watch many of them multiple times!! The editing and the choice of music too 👌🏾
As an old (English) man in his late 70s, whose better day is long behind him, I can only think of one word to describe this excellent adventure …… vicarious ✌️😎✌️
This is a minor classic. Backyard b&w’s are sweeeeeeeeet.
You are my favorite chanel in this crazy world. Funny enough, I used to have the same Lexus as you and I ride motorcycles, just recently from Seattle through eastern part of CA. I am an old fart. Just so happy to see you represent the best things in life, humor, friends, cars , motorcycles, travel, and of course photography.. Keep up rhe excellent job. You bring joy to a lot of us with every new episode.
Still my favorite photography channel, i love your trips and seeing different parts of the US. You're not half bad at taking photos either, so thats a plus. Humour is on point and editing has the perfect flow.
Man, what a great video. Setting the photography aside, you communicated the ease and joy of hanging out with old friends. I gotta call my guys . . .
Fast track shipping from China Ryan Gosling has delivered a video!
"Beautiful Dollar General" are words I never expected to see together 😂
just two minutes into the video and i gotta say i already like the part where he puts his helmet on and suddenly starts speaking like gxace
Love those abrupt temperature fluctuations in the desert
A 36 minute Grainy Days video 😩
4 hours is the bare minimum!
"I guess if you can't photograph the familiar, how are you going to photograph the unfamiliar?" -Jason
That quote actually hit me hard.
For some reason I can basically only photograph the unfamiliar well. Probably because i spend hours in a spot i’m familiar with and figured out what was worth sacrificing my film for
Sometimes i put on Jason’s videos on my tv on autoplay and just have a 4 hour on and off waking and falling asleep session thats normally just a huge haze in my memory, i can never normally tell if i have moved on to the next video or not cus i fall asleep and think “oh pretty pictures” and wake up and think “oh pretty pictures and thats about it”. I dont think about much. Im a pretty simple human being.
I love these road trip videos! Not just the bike ones either btw. Wouldn’t say no to more of em.
I am constantly in awe! Making the videos and making photos! Lotsa work! The views of USA, are both stunning and very sad.. Few cars on the open stretches.Huge motel on Route 66, not occupied! Jason shoots the Rollei slow. S L O W ! Like a me! I thought prism was superb idea.. When the scene fits the Rollei, it's magic. I once took 18 months to finish a Roll of 24! (220). 23 images worth portfolio and Big prints.. Bravo Jason. Oh! did Monica wire ahead for smackaroo food place? Bravo!
I love my Rolleiflex’s. (2.8f & 3.5f). For some weird reason the 3.5 is my go to. I too ride, and my current bike is a Triumph Scrambler 1200xc, and long trips are my zenzone. Longest straight shot in one day was from VaBeach, VA, to Kansas City. Had to get to the show. (Story documented in the book, “Rush: I Was There”). I was stoked when you started riding. I feel getting places via bike is awesome, and even better with a camera. Happy riding/shooting.
Well I have successfully binge watched and liked every episode of “grainydays”. Great work believe it or not learned and laughed the whole way. Keep it up. Now on to “badflashes”.
I enjoy my TLR on the bike. Big chunky controls and the waist level finder means i don't even need to take my gloves off if i want to take a quick photo. I recommend a good armoured base layer (Knox Urbane Pro is my choice) for riding because you can just layer up on top as needed. Good for those days with big temperature swings.
the house photo was spectacular!!! another great video man!!
Two of my favourite things in one video. Motorcycle & film photography 💯
The addition of the mic in helmet is awesome
love the horshoe brother, just missing the trucker hat, aviators, and full lip of dip
Toilet photo in bathroom for the win. A captive audience for your work.
As a former truck driver who has driven all these roads and stopped at all those gas stations/truck stops it is cool to see it from the perspective of someone who is good at vlogging/photographing it.
I highly appreciate your sense of humour.
32:54 is very good. Homage to the Guggenheim in NYC. Liked the bus and bike too! Rollei is rockin
I was also in Wyoming the same week you guys were apparently (May 25th). Went to watch Lord Huron at Red Rocks in Colorado to finish off that trip. Excellent show. Wish I had ran into you in Yellowstone (pun intended).
Another awesome video Jason! Felt especially loose and fun….also always love the moto episodes! Was looking forward to seeing how the Rollei performed. 😮💨
love the bike riding taughts - make it a habit, please!
Once again, all the photos shared in the video are great. I'm a big fan and will continue to wait patiently for a photography book
That is no joke, riding that much on motorcycle. Loved the in-helmet microphone.
Pure quality, such powerful nostalgia 🤌🏼
Rolleiflex the GOAT!
I enjoyed this format really much. Looking at the comments nd it looks like i'm not the only one. Definately worth doing some road trip videos in the same fasion in the future 👍
Your videos are simply mesmerizing Jason. I don't really know how else to describe them without making a long ass comment.
The motorcycle road trip videos are the best
Hilarious when you mention I-40 being boring and nothing being out there. I live on the east coast and have nearly gotten taken out many a time on I-40 on this side of the country, runs through a lot of the main cities in NC going to the coast. Cheers! and thanks for the fun, relaxing video.
LOVE the roadtrip vlogs!
I'm majorly addicted, being a photographer and motorcyclist, and I am severely disappointed that this one is not a couple of hours long. The other ones I've watched several times, sometimes with friends and family, and I need these vids to be at least 3 hours!
I liked the motorcycle chit-chat. That was a nice touch and it was nice to see the scenery. Props to you for doing 575 miles on a bike. I drove 860 mi from Kalamazoo, MI to Chamberlain, SD on one part of a roadtrip and that was PAINFUL just in a car. The badlands NP the next morning was worth the long haul though.
cool stuff! You gotta try the planar versions of the rolleiflex if you are liking shooting it. Those lenses are the best I've ever used I think (I've shot a lot of good lenses too). I bet your mamiya is technically better but there's something about a planar rolleiflex image that really pops
You should definitely come visit Albuquerque again in October, the balloon fiesta, and the aspens up in the mountains turning yellow make for some great photography
Thank you for reminding me I need more Kentmere in my life.
Lord Huron will always reign number one. We trekked out to Red Rocks and saw them again this year. Always fun to see another World Ender 💀
Bikes and cameras. Sweet combo! 👍🏼
Yup, this is the good stuff. Thank god for your content
i really liked this one
I was so surprised to see what camera you chose, I never expected you to pick the camera in the title!
Also I love that Tim is rocking the RF-1200. Love mine, wish I could get the same color way, but discontinued.jpg.
I DREAM of the day that I take pictures as good as your "bad" ones.
Mom grab the camera! Grainy days posted a new video and it’s a TLR!!!!
Nice! Looks like a lot of fun. If you haven't tried it, the rotating bar on Fremont is kool. The gold nugget at the Golden Nugget is interesting too. I agree the image @ 32:45 is choice. More please.
I must say this video is a straight up banger.
My 2 Rolleiflexes are my favorite cameras, my desert island cameras, my "from my cold dead hands" cameras, my....ok you get the drift.
whoever owned that massage gun on the table, i felt that
Yes ! Love these roadtrip vlogs !
Seeing the BW photos from ABQ, I wish I would have shot some while I was there. The moto trips are some of my favorite to watch, especially when I have the urge to travel. Plaza Pool photo was so good. 32:55 portfolio for sure. Great video
For a portable 6x4.5 format, have you looked into the Fuji GS645? Super foldable & flat. The metering system is spot on too... and it's very inexpensive.
That's my favorite travel medium format
In his first impressions video I think he had mentioned being concerned with the rangefinder mechanisms being knocked out of alignment from the constant vibration on his bike.
finally, more motorcycle road trip videos
Diarrhea Activator was the name of my punk rock band in high school
Who's that you have with you? The budget version of Jon Hamm, and I'm not kidding he's hot. Great video and to quote another post, vicarious pleasures throughout.
new grainydays just dropped. just like my grandma after a stroke
these are my favorite grainydays videos :)
Mic in the helmet was a win
Hell yeah ,bromance never gets old😂
I was thinking about when the next roadtrip vid would be out last night. It looks like Jason and I are connected spiritually or something. Thank you half frame Ryan Gosling
this video is beautifully crafted ❤❤
Oh, a Lord Huron Concert? I was on one too recently, even tho I only had to take a metro ride for exactly 3 stops instead of a roadtrip.
You could push Ektachrome a stop or two. It seems to respond to that well.
Great Trip! Your Brother was funny! All of the shots were true to form. Perhaps Hover Dam was an oversight. It would have added some awe in the video. You seemed not so happy. Always find something amazing if you can. I did enjoyed t ❤he trip. Thank You.
heyy Jason, will you be doing a video on the nikon f3? Its an amazing camera to use and I'm sure that you'll love it.
I always thought u had the vibe of Lord Huron and well whada ya know! Haha
14:48 - nice vase. Actually the first time I've seen a vase in that style and it's actually a vase.
32:54 is very good. Homage to the Guggenheim in NYC.
Jason looks like the one of the bikers from The Blue Oyster Bar on Police Academy. Nice handle bar mustache 😂😂😂😂😂
Using a lens hood on these old cameras makes a huge difference with contrast and it removes a lot of the glow.. I have a Rolleiflex from the same era and I was really surprised about the change after I finally found a lens hood for it. That said, I still think that using a prism finder on a TLR is cheating. ;-)
23:36 If it's color you want head back in October and check out the Balloon Fiesta!
I made a wish upon a star, that today Jason would drop a road trip banger full of FART, I guess wishes do come true.. good to see my bois today
Check out the IBA, complete a challenge or three, in two weeks and then every motorcycle adventure afterward feels like a beer run. Unless you have disc replacement surgery like me and it kills motorcycle adventuring.
yep, after a couple IBA rides an 800 mile day is nothing! Sucks about your back, hopefully you can still do short rides!
@@sdcorrey I think I’m going to have to switch to a full on old man touring bike.
16:30 crispy edit
Been waiting on this vid since the first impressions video 😮
Another chrome donkey episode? Hell yeah!
32:07 Twin Peaks The Return vibes
As an European it's so funny to see what you guys consider an old town 😅
It is an old town, for the United States anyway. Are you aware of the history of the USA.
I want to get a Yashicaflex at some point. It's a good camera to get into some totally hip-to-be-square medium format action, I reckon.
Fantastic! So good I watched it twice :)
The helmet mic is amazing!
jason starting to love TLR oh lord
Noticed that the elevator skipped the 13th floor. First noticed that when I stayed at El Cortez the first of many times. Figured that Jimmy Hoffa, Hunter S Thompson and Howard Hughes were holed up on 13 with endless coke and hookers. And a couple of Area 51 grays. I’m easily amused.
Watching this I get really sentimental since I don't got "the boys" to do stuff like this.
If you’ve stopped down the TLR to 645, why not get a Mamiya or Bronica 645? Love the video
I think you should try the Rolleiflex with the pistol grip.
Nice video. I just had a paranoid thought that you fell and hit that bolt on your helmet pushing it into your gray matter. -Steve life long rider and amateur photographer
10pm is 22:00 but i gotchu fam
The photo at 14:35 ain't even that bad, my man. I feel your pain though. The highlights on the side of the house were blown out to oblivion. But, I guess that the intense desert sun would also be at fault here.
