I’m from Stonehaven and glad to see I see this all the time. Was cycling by the castle today. I have just recently started learning about the history of it and I am mind blown by how much stuff happened there.
My 29th great grandather is Marbhachair Chamius who was the father of Robert Chatti who was the Knight marischal and the father of warin de keith, Thank you For the video and the information im trying to reasearch about them more and this helped

My grandmother was a full-time genealogist and traced our line to it's root, to Aberdeenshire, Stonehaven, etc, with ancient roots originating from the Black Forest in Germany. Fascinating history.

I am a proud American to say that my male Scottish family line has a 151 year life history with this Castle. My Scottish family lineage is Abernethy [a Sept of Clan Leslie].

I'm saving up as sometime I want to take my family to visit Scotland and spend a month or so traveling and visiting as much as possible. Thank you for sharing this video. I've been in love with this castle for well over a decade from the first time I read about it. One question, I read somewhere (can't remember where now, but I think there's a few sources) that St. Ninian originally established a church where the ruins of the current chapel is, and then later the Parish was moved to Aberdeen. Did you find this information in your research or is it even true?
My Great Great Great Grandmother was Countess Isabella Catherine Keith Falconer the oldest Child of Anthony Adrian Keith Falconer 7th Earl of Kintore the Keith Name has been passed down to me and now my son to the oldest Child for over 1000 years!! Proud of my Keith Heritage!! Love the vedio will one day vist the castle and also cost Keith Hall and the other castles of Keith's ,, Verta Vinsint Truth Conquers motto of the Keith's

Hi, there are several interior shots: the Whig's Vault at 6:59, the courtyard complex at 9:16, the entrance passageway at 11:09. Most of the buildings still standing are ruinous and without roofs, so the drone footage also gives a good sense of the castle as a whole. To visit, there is a medium-sized car park along the Coastal Tourist Route just off the A92, and there is also a path leading from Stonehaven along the coast to the castle. To actually get in requires going down a steep set of stairs nearly to sea level, then ascending another steep set through the entrance passageway and into the courtyard. Unfortunately this means that without significant assistance the castle isn't particularly accessible for those with mobility issues. Hope that helps!

What amazed me is, how did they build it in the first place! Just fascinating. One a side note, Canada has about 20 cases of Coronavirus. How is Scotland fairing?
It pisses me off to no end that they have to remove the roof of buildings like that so as not to have to pay taxes. Places like that should be exempt as they are national treasures!

Some of the roofs were destroyed during Cromwell's siege, while the rest collapsed due to neglect rather than deliberate scheming. But yes, agreed that such sites should be tax exempt so long as funds are put towards conservation - let's maybe start taxing Starbucks, Apple, etc. rather than our own heritage sites and charities!
My sister and I visited in September 2017. We are Clan Keith and it was an incredible feeling to walk where so much history was made.

Dunnottar Castle has such a long history. Cromwell and many others inhabit the story of the place. I used it as a frontspiece in one of my books.

A helpful addition to this would have been an actual walk along the path to the entrance of the castle which looks almost impregnable.
