OMG I can’t begin to tell you how many times a day I quote this movie!!My dad knows it and so does my cousin. We have a small dairy farm in northeast Wisconsin. Ironically, right now, we have a cow named Maggie! 😉 Everytime a storm rolls in I say “well, this is where we find out if we were meant to be Cowboys.” The list goes on and on and on - an amazing movie. When Woodrow carves the sign for Deetz, it always chokes me up. Everything he says could be said about my grandfather. I was lucky enough to farm with him every day of my life for 43 years. He passed away at age 95! And when they want to go and see all the clear land before it gets built up with churches & School houses - I can relate. It makes me sad to see farmland sold and turned into a suburb. And ironically, I do hate money even more than I hate fun lol.

Then you haven’t watched 1883 and Bass Reeves lawman, if you think the pc police are around, they missed those two and a bunch of other westerns , but I’ll agree that this is one of the best westerns, I have read this book at least 4 times and I’ve read all of Larry McMurtry’s books and he didn’t write a bad one

I read this book over and over. This movie captures the book as well as it could possibly be done. McMurtry had John Wayne and Jimmy Stewart in mind when he thought this up!

Saw this with a gf around Thanx/Christmas time. We both saw the entire 6 hr episode (even fast forward thru the VHS tape) '87-'89 or so when it aired on TV. Epic, Masterpiece. Somewhat parallel to McMurtry's book. Kind of a good gauge for compatibility in a significant other for the romancers out there. Would love to share this with grandkids one day.
