I saw at least 4 trailer steer axles, but I'm still real impressed at how well it tracks. I think Main Roads Dept Australia would have a heart attack if you told them you wanted a permit for that. They wouldn't know what to rate it at! lol
Leuk samengestelde combinatie zo!
You can see that's it's not loaded because the 2nd and 4th axles on the rigid are not on the road, also the last axle under the 3rd container is also off the road. The trailers are fitted with self steering axles to allow the unit to get around sharp corners, if those containers were fully loaded they would weigh over 100 tonne, plus the weight of the truck itself. It looks good running around empty but put a load on it and try to sit on 100kms per hour, like a proper road train in Australia.
amazing.... beautiful, and it makes sense... instead taking 4 trucks its much more eco friendly on long distance transporation... we'd need more such Megaliners on European streets (studies say, that with megaliners can be reduced 1/3 of diesel consumption). :-) Tks for that cool video.
It's probably not computer assisted steering, but a self-steering axle. This means there's nothing to control, the axles just follow their natural path.
btw, this must be computer assistance steering. Who calculates what right angle it is best to make to turn more safer and shorter. And it also depends how close you put the axles to eachother. Those dif cargo lengths has something to do with it.
That is a long trailer combination for european roads. It seems to track really well around corners. you don't seem to have to go as wide on the corners as we do in Australia with a road train. Maybe they should introduce something similar on to Aussie roads. The Axles are very close together and being so many of them it is a wonder it does'nt scrub tyres on tight turns. Are some of the Axles self steering?
@rafael94817 tu comentario fuera de lugar si en verdad amas los camiones (your comment out of place if you truly love trucks) los camiones atraen pasion sin fronteras
Driving forward is one thing.....reversing is an entirely different matter... this is quite a unique combination.

I wouldnt like to be the owner of that truck. To many tyres to pay for :P
My guess is this multi conbination is not intended to be reversed into any docking area....

They should have split it up to show how it's all done. I think I know but it would be good to see
Lol. Perhaps a Roadtrain coupe

Europe will never be allowed to run truck that size on their freeways. Shame though.
