My Dad worked in Egypt for the merchant navy in the 1950's. He was in his hotel room one day and got a call from reception who said a spy was waiting to see him. He was surprised, obviously, but said send him up. When the guy came into his room he asked,
"Do you know who I am?"
To which my Dad replied, "Yes, you are a British spy."
The man was visibly taken aback and asked how my Dad knew this, to which my Dad repiled,
    "The f****** receptionist told me."
Upper class spies have been as conspicuous as a white crow for decades.

That was presented in a silly way, true, but the idea is that is not that it is unfair but that there is a need for the uk to adapt to the new challenge of China.
The huge irony of china’s rise is that the west created their own monster, and it took a lot of time and effort.
There were numerous warnings in the 90s that putting the world’s workshop in China along with high tech know-how would come back to haunt the west. They had plenty of other options back then to diversify work chains or invest in a democracric Country.

Who is the actual threat to security?

Who kept pushing back the democratic freedoms Hong Kongers used to enjoy.. right it was the CCP.
The UK wanted to give Hong Kong more freedoms but kept stalling on the idea out of fear the CCP would invade (the CCP stated as much)

Who is the actual threat to security? The US - the US spies on their allies, drop bombs in other countries, lied to the UK so the UK dropped bombs in Iraq etc.
The UK too has threats to its security - lack of governance. The UK does not understand that health security and economic security are intrinsically linked and this has caused huge cost to the country for the UK government inability to control the spread of the CoViD virus.

@@zhangruyi3153 Weird, someone should tell the CCP the same. I have heard on more than one occasion that people in China will avoid hospitals in China and not eat food grown in China.
You need to work on your nations credibility first before you can preach your wumao bs - presuming the CCP let's you :P

I think part of the threat is that they have so many more people and those people are potentially easier to put leverage on so they do as you please and cheaper to employ? Plus they can no doubt back engineer any tech we have fairly easily? Still though, any real innovation in the world has come from the west and probably continue to do so for the foreseeable future? Geotime and cellsite type tech, and email login location trackers and all that type of stuff etc are easy to use but employing people to use it effectively is not cheap and not everyone is cut out for it. Still though, if anywhere is going to come up with the next big thing, it'll still probably be a western tech, you just got to put the right minds together but most likely wont necessarily stay that way forever...

    • @freedomdreamer1650
      @freedomdreamer1650 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Plus they only have to apply for jobs in the west and we hand over our industrial abd defence secrets? I'm all for doing something about racism and prejudice and discrimination but you can't be totally against racism and discrimination and then protect all industrial and defence secrets when you go giving jobs to people working for an allegedly aggressive power? Not that I'm saying all Chinese mainlander han are spies and not all chinese spies are mainlander han people and I did say 'allegedly' and I'm sure Chinese are smarter than to just use mainlander han people or something like that but we don't even play by the same rules, so there's totally different rules of engagement? Mind you, no offence but guardian and independent etc seem to care about certain ethnicities than others lol not sure if that is by accident or design? Oops probably not supposed to mention that? 😅

You can’t short to making scientific and technological breakthrough with apprentices this is a known fact
