Great video. Living in an RV, boat or tiny home is a great way NOT to collect "stuff". We had downsized big time a few years ago when we moved from Ohio to Florida. Best thing we've ever done.

We have been living on our sailboat for over three years, I can agree with you more, great video, we love our change. it took a long time to get used to a small space, we are used to have a lot of stuff we don't need, this is the best therapy for shoppers like me!!!
NIce Like your down to earth honesty. Any obstacle should be well considered ahead of time. I lived 18 years except 2-4 days a month average in a Semi truck and for a year after in a 32 foot motor home / Mansion. Now we have a 1200 Square foot home. In many respects I miss the coziness of the truck where I literally had a TV, toiletries ans 7 pair of clothes.
Well said about obstacles! Living in a small space can be a pain in the neck at times but it also forces you to keep things simple. I recently moved off the boat for work in another province (AB) and I really miss it. The 450 sq ft apartment I'm living in now seems like an ostentatious opulence of space. It's crazy: I have to walk across an expanse of unused space inside my living quarters and it feels so unnatural.
after seeing more of your videos I understand your issues discussed either way the boat is very nice and you keep it well . Thanks for sharing your experience

Good, points, I lived on a C&C 27 for a while and was present to how much more room I would of had with even a 32' sailboat. I thought I was being a minimalist, but I still had trouble finding places for things. The booth remained up because that is where I had my TV and small stereo, the V birth was clothes so I slept on the settee. I'm 6'2" and had an inch to spare on it. I'm married now, but I'm working on perhaps getting another sailboat and when the time comes to retire take my wife and sail the Caribbean.Best of Luck!
Good points. I am a Disable sailor why I never live on a Sail Boat but I do have desire going back to sea. Looking a Motor Yachts. Some of the points you brought up I had already figured out, such as falling over board. Another reason I like the MYs with the swim platform. But if under way, I be fish food, for the boat sail away or if I had a tender dragging me, the props would grind me up, which is a point you failed to mention if your under power
There is some valuable information here, many points may seem obvious but its true what he says as a lot of stuff will not become apparent until you do it.
I know you posted this video 4 years ago and I was wondering if you could tell me what the average size powerboat is in a marina for a liveaboard my husband and I are looking between 50 and 60 foot. Is that too large. We would like to retire in it. Great video by the way. I'm glad I found you. Thank you.
Yes, too large in my opinion. 50-60 feet is a lot of boat to deal with for just two people, so most long term livaboards seem to gravitate to 40-45 feet as a maximum. The Grand Banks 42 Classic is my dream power boat to live the rest of my life on. If you get one I will be insanely jealous. Cheers!
I moved onto my 34 sailboat 8 months ago and love it! I used to think that it might be too small, but the longer I am on it the more I feel it is the perfect size. I am tentatively dreaming about buying a 65 foot boat, she is a very narrow racer so the interior is more like 45 footer. it is actually a simple cutter rig, high stability low displacement with wing keel. I want to sail somewhere, i don't know, australia, but without any real sailing experience it is only a dream
Jadervason Take some courses on sailing large boats. I forgot what they're called but they're available. Or go on charters and see if they'll help you learn.

Interesting! I wonder if your motion sickness is triggered by static charge or some such. Do they still sell those ground straps that people used to put on cars for motion sickness?
Old Goat I don't find the temperature to be a challenge, it's the humidity that causes me problems. I work outside in northern Alberta so I'm used to the cold so I might be the wrong person to ask... I think the best thing to keep in mind is you will need to do something about insulation if the boat you purchase don't have any or there isn't enough for comfortable winter living.
know anything about having internet on board? my brother refuses to journey with me to hawaii next year unless I can get it -_- not sure if that's possible yet.
+1000Commando To carry Firearms and if you travel to other countries it can be a problem. Need to check that country Gun laws. There been cases of people being arrested for having guns entering other Countries, even Hire sailors who there to protecting them and their meritant sailors from the Somalian Pirates

It is possible but it's extremely expensive (just the antennas are $5k+) and slow. (.01 mbps)
