@@KyleZonePlust's a cute pack and I'll enjoy playing with it on my definitely totally 100% legal copy of sims 4, but it's not hard to see that sims 3 packs just have more meat on their bones. we have the pets expansion for sims 3, it adds cats, dogs, horses, turtles, rodents, snakes, etc. and it's not spread across 6 different packs for 100+ dollars. the sims 4 has a lot more flair and way more content, but ultimately that content ends up being just overpriced fluff. there is no excuse for sims 4 in its entirety being nearly 200 dollars
EDIT: oh god, 200 dollars was WAY off, the EPs alone are 500+. it's over 1000 dollars overall. as much as I like the game, that is absolutely ridiculous and not worth it at all
The horses look really good, but I hope there's more that we don't see in the trailer because I'm unsure if this will have enough content to be worth $40. I was really hoping for a mechanical bull too, that would've been perfect for the theme.
Yeah... the gameplay is kind of poor... I understand why it had to be an expansion pack, they needed a bigger world to make it work, so it couldn't be a game pack, but it offers too little... I still like the gameplay and I still think it's going to be a great addition to the game, but I understand what you mean.
This is just the announcement trailer not the full gameplay trailer there’s almost always 2 trailers for each expansion pack so it’s very likely they didn’t show everything in this one

THIS IS AN EXPANSION?!?! People hyping this is why we can have decent expansions.the horses should be apart of pets and the rest can fit in a kit or game pack at max, but instead we have a thousand little micrtransactions for things that should already be included in other expansion or base game.
With this and cottage living, you could have an honest to God farm which is something I’ve always wanted in the Sims

I really like the pack and what it brings to the table. But just imagine paying for cottage living, which has farm animals already and then paying extra for this one. It is like they refurbished the idea of cottage living with new animals. That's a total of 80 dollars for something that could have been one pack.

@@avryantoinette I think the horses were hard to implement since they are like sims and not like objects (llamas, cows) and they needed to develop all the interactions, animations and stuff. But still it is less than a few game packs, as you just mentioned. This time they scammed us with the pack.

You can definitely go beyond your lot. Like when you walk your dogs or go for jogs. You can explore different parts of the neighborhood outside of your lot without a loading screen. You just can't visit other lots without one.

That's the reason Sims1/2 didn't have horses and had no such interest in making cool vehicles. There was just no need for that.

I'm happy Sims 4 players have horses finally but I really think it should have been part of Cats and Dogs as a full on pet expansion instead, like Sims 3 had. The sheep are an adorable surprise, which Sims 3 never got outside of the amazing mod by Lyralei. Edit: I forgot about the goats, those are adorable too. 🥰

Horses are not pets, they also added indigenous people in this pack and it is worth it being it's own pack. If they crammed it all together it would have been as empty as sims 3. Sims 3 was buggy, slow, the time was too fast and it was so pixelated without the beautiful scenery. Not everything should be compared to Sims 3. Sims 4 is in a league of its own.

The hair texture of the horses tail really did it for me especially the way it moved as it galloped.
The sheeps also look good in my opinion. Maybe I'm biased towards animals but I haven't felt this way for an expansion pack for a long time

Fun Fact: If you buy this, Cats and Dogs, My First Pet Stuff and Cottage Living. You’d have something that would qualify as an actual Expansion Pack by Sims 3 standards. It would also only cost you $20 not $40 and due to a better work and release schedule would come with less bugs (it’s still EA) and cross-pack compatibility. This is why older simmers keep telling the youth they are being scammed. Granted they did sell Chickens and Cows separately in Sims 3 but the difference is we all knew that was a scam. Ya’ll don’t even wanna consider the possibility you’re being finessed.

I don't get it. I'd like to enjoy Sims 4 but I just can't.
30 min in and I get bored. The core issue of this game is the lack of personality of each Sim.
I'm currently playing Sims 2 and I absolutely love how diff they can be from each other. The relationship bonding being two ways, instead of one, the genuine conflict between Sims with diff interests.
EA you don't need much.
Instead of copy pasta old Sims 3 animations to make more expansions, focus on your next big title and bring to life bits and parts of previous games.
Sims 4 was my last stop with this franchise.
And I've been following their release since Sims 2 base game.

Horses were always at the top of my list of Most Wanted. However, as a real life horse owner & trainer, who showed ENGLISH, it always makes me roll my eyes when people ONLY think of cowboys and westerns in association with horses. I certainly hope the Sims team is aware there are other riding styles, saddles, clothing, etc, and dozens of different equine pursuits, beyond stereotypical western style riding.

I've never been a horse girl and I'm British so I don't have much connection to the Texan culture, but this pack looks so fun and the vibes are so warm and nice! I can imagine making a big family who lives on a ranch and mixing in Cottage Living gameplay to make it feel more fleshed out

I am really hoping that they put big lots in the new world. For people who have cottage living and want to do a full farm with the new animals in the pack, then the cows, llamas, chickens, and crops from the other packs I feel like larger lots are needed for building.

This is not an expansion only enough for a game pack. They did away with them to only get 40$ packs but this one has maybe half of what the last 2 expansions have had. This is on par with wedding stories and strangerville which are game packs also with full worlds.

and yet we still don't have turtles, snakes, lizards, and birds.....
This pack has a lot of potential! I'm impressed with the horseback riding animations. The equitation (rider's position and posture) and the horse movements/gestures look pretty good, especially for a game that isn't exclusively about horses. I hope that pack plays well with other packs, like Cats & Dogs and Cottage Living. I'd love to see vets visit the barn when a horse is sick; an interaction for your dog to herd the sheep; trail riding in other worlds; a 4H club for kids/teens; pony rides; and a rabbit hole to take lessons without owning a horse. I also hope that English-style tack (all riding gear that is put on a horse) with be available too and an option to ride bareback! The barn shown in the trailer reminds me of a fairground arena. Maybe we'll get a festival where you can exhibit your horses, sheep and goats, including the farm animals from Cottage Living!

haha has it ever worked before with previous packs? so many packs had high potential yet they turned out to be huge disappointments for that price tag. there will be very poor synargy with previous packs once again as usual and it will be a buggy broken mess, just as is always the case with EA. i truly wish i could have your optimism....but i have too much experience with EA's antics and nasty habit to rust devs into releasing half finished broken content to truly have high expectations for this, or any product that has EA on it

This community continues to get their hopes up in thinking expansion packs will go the extra mile in anything, but time and time again, it’s a let down. The Sims 4 hardly has any cross-pack interaction and I don’t see why this one would be any different.

Well, I for one am stupidly EXCITED for this pack!!! I know it's been said that they could have included horses and what not with cottage living and whilst that's true, they could have, I'm actually really glad that they didn't and have done it as its own separate thing with a completely different vibe (whilst still complimenting Cottage Living if that's what you want from it.) I think there's a lot more going on with this pack than it's being given credit for, there's certainly a lot I'm excited about. The horses and all that entails are obvious but the thematics, the barn shin digs, the line dancing, the winery, the 'old American Mining town' aesthetics, the GOATS!!! Oh my days, I have always had a soft spot for goats so they have absolutely stole the show for me! Did anybody else notice the fainting goat in the background at around 1.12??!! 😅 Honestly, I don't normally pre order packs, I usually wait for the sales. I watched the trailer once for this and was sold. Pre ordered off the bat. (Takes a lot for me to do that with any game!) Each to their own I suppose (you can't please all the people all the time) but I'm absolutely here for this one. Well played EA. Well played 😅 x

Just read the description and they do have some native inspired clothing and objects in build mode, don't know how much though. They also have a Ranch party activity with cookout and dancing. I hope there is a ranch career though!

I am actually so excited for this. Werewoves and horses are literally the two things I wanted the most in the sims, and now I can't belive we have both! I admit I had lost hope seeing as TS4 isn't open world like TS3 and horses wouldn't make sense, but thank god we have them!
I'm loving the country vibes in Sims. After cottage living this is probably my new favourite. Cannot wait to combine this with cottage living and renovate the world😭😭😭

In my opinion, this is NOT an expansion pack worth of content, but instead a smaller game pack worth of content with an expansion pack price tag. It's disappointing that the Sims creators haven't expressed any concerns about the lack of new content in the trailer. It's possible they're being paid by EA to occasionally promote the company, (not to react but to build for the game and occasionally make a sponsored video), and want to keep the money coming in. The trailer doesn't show much beyond a different backdrop for cottage living, and it's unclear what else is included besides horses. Nectar making isn't particularly new, as we already have something similar in eco-lifestyle, and farm animals are something we should have already received with cottage living. It's a shame.
I wouldn't be surprised if horses are locked only in in the new world. Wich would be suck because i would've loved to have them in Henford-on-Bagley too.
Saddened I'm still waiting on one of my favorite animals. Pigs 🐖.
Also waiting for reptiles and birds to make a proper comeback too.
Sims 3 was banger and set expectations high. Now I gotta wait forever for stuff or spend all my money to get stuff on here.

The mini goats and sheep are so cute 😫😭😍. I love how you can see the difference in horse height and build to show truly different breeds! I love big tall horses, how exciting 😆. And the dancing! A true dancing with other sims experience

hahaha nope. that would baffle the entire gaming world if it actually would since EA hasn't delivered a proper working game or content pack for years and the Sims is notorious among gamers for being the most broken and buggy mess of all EA's franchises.
It is not that simple to just code and add it too so much other code and everything line up. Big games require updates. They work hard and do a great job keeping up with it all.

to be fair, a lor of sims fans are really dumb, ts3 included all the animals in 1, ts4 splits 1 pack into 3 or 4 packs, so far ts4 has split pets into 3 packs... but people acting like ea just fed the world, no wonder the devs said ts4 isnt over yet, they're not stupid

Not only you, like...I'm afraid about the lack of English tack I'm seeing. At least you can spot one person wearing a more "normal" riding outfit in the back of the shot when 3 horses do show jumping. But their horse still wears Western tack 🤐

Imagine if EA actually read what all their customers are saying and listened instead of disrespecting them by splitting one pack into 4 separate packs and charging $60 a piece. They're about to have a ton of competition, you would think they'd want a good relationship with their fanbase.
i'm glad they're adding more farm animals, and another farm based world other than just Henford-on-Bagley. I hope there's gonna be lots big enough to make full blown farms if you have both packs.

You guys are so amazing! I have been with SIMS since they first launched waaaaaay back ( I used the very first Sims in my group home as a way to teach life skills and actually won an award because of what your game helped me do). To see how far this game has come? JUST WOW.

now think about it ... cats, dogs and horses were part of one massive expansion pack in sims 3...came with lots of clothing, objects and a huge world, new professions and ton of customisations. Very sad what happend to this game
I know some players prefer more realistic graphics in the Sims, but I love the way horses look in the Sims 4 style! And, the different manes and tails...so gorgeous! I'm so excited! 🥰

Why no English saddles? I get it’s a western pack but we got more with sims 3 pets. Hopefully when they reveal the expansion content they do have that. Typically you don’t jump a horse with a western saddle, EA do your research🙄

I have to agree with the others on this. There’s no reason this shouldn’t be a game pack. I’m trying to be optimistic and I can see the amount of hard work the devs have put into this. To me it makes them look bad to stretch their work so thin just to make more money but that’s the EA calling card soooooo

Honestly this looks interesting, I like it plus the detail of gaining the animals trust before being able to ride them is nice. And I think having this as an option like cottage living is cool.

EDIT: as of 7/1 I am no longer very impressed. The CAS items are basically recycled and the only real things in the pack are the horses and wine making. The goats and sheep are probably gonna be like Cottage Living lmao. I wouldn’t buy it but I get it for free so I’ll play it anyway ig
not an open world, just a big neighborhood so the horses can walk more freely (like in the Werewolves pack (but bigger, I believe))

@@Ilivepuppys Idk, I liked Cottage Living. That’s been one of the only expansions that really changed my sim’s day-to-day routine.
And, although the stables/coops were bought in buy mode, the actual animals weren’t. I wouldn’t have a problem doing it the same way in this pack.

The horse animations look great! I was worried the gaits would be off. It seems like such a trivial thing but it can make or break horses in video games. The horse models also look good, like the face detail. I'm not yet sold on the 'clayified' tails but overall I think it's a job well done to match the style of the game. If I had to be picky I'd say the saddle/sim placement on the horses' backs is a little far back, but that was the case in Sims 3 as well.
Looking forward to seeing more! I just hope the gameplay lives up to what we've seen so far.
The canter looks so much better are more fluid than the ts3 horses! I like that the reins are “active” too rather than a solid object like ts3. I’m excited. And I can’t wait to see the CC that creators will come out with for horses!
I don't think the mane and tail will give you too much of a headache because just like we have alpha cc for people I'm sure some will be created for horses too

Not only do the goats faint but we can teach them tricks? And seems like we have a new drink to bring our ghosts back from the dead. The horses look surprisingly well-done graphically. New dance, and some new tunes on the piano? There's so much little things to unpack with this trailer and this is just my first watch of it.

EA isn't just hurting one person, they are the destroyers of once great and beloved franchises for the sake of corporate greed!! they have this bad reputation for a VERY good reason!! to the point where even Disney was about to revoke their Star Wars license deal with EA despite them getting paid top dollar for it. that should say something given what a bunch of greedy shits Disney execs are! but EA was truly dragging the Star Wars IP through the mud with their greedy antics, and they are doing this as well with the Sims. need more? go talk to Command and Conquer fans, or Dungeon Keeper fans and see how they will react if you ask them why they hate EA ;)

As an actual horse person there's small things like using an English jump saddle for jumping and holding the reins correctly are just not there so I hope those get added, but won't get my hopes up. Other than that I'm so excited for horses to finally be introduced into The Sims 4!

From the looks of it, the picture on the website that got leaked, the kid that on the Clydesdale looks like it has an English saddle and girth but think the way it works they made the styrups western style. Think the reins will be the same for every horse from the looks of the trailer.
I can't do that to them because every horse game I ever played that got it right was terrible, crashed constantly, and had such poor optimization. I'm willing to sacrifice somethings at this point and just be the nerd that goes "hey we've got different saddles, riding styles, etc" as a fun thing to tell people. At this point I just don't want the game to break.
And those aforementioned games weren't life sims. They were your standard horse girl games. They get a bad wrap for a reason. No matter how accurate they are, they're garbage and some even came packaged with malware.
I die with my knowledge or use it for trivia.
