@Redwykelz It was this game and THPS2 which made me realize just how different the experiences between a N64 and PS1 really were. Back when different ports of a game were black and white, as opposed to just missing features and effects in the next generation.
@@TheCrankyTechnician THPS2 = "Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2." Sorry if I'm too late! :D It's a good comparison to bring up, as this was during a time when N64 and PSX versions had some significant differences between games - even if they looked similar in screenshots! For the most part, PSX ports often had better audio and better accessibility to FMV cutscenes while N64 ports had drastically lower load times and a (technically) more powerful graphics processor. See also: Mega Man 64 & Mega Man Legends, Rayman 2, Glover, Donald Duck: Goin' Quackers, and Resident Evil 2. If you're curious, take a look at the N64 and PSX versions of each of these games to see how they are similar and different to one another. :D
Hands down one of the best songs in Enter the Gecko! Brings back memories of playing the game at one of my childhood friend's house. I grew up with Deep Cover Gecko, but that's where I discovered Gex!
Hearing this music when starting the game up or returning from a special cutscene is the best thing ever. I just love the didgeridoo. The whole thing's got a world music vibe goin' on
I remade a few levels of gex, but as stated above, the trademark was renewed halfway through my fan project, so im afraid to post anything. Im fine to share media privately but not post a direct youtube video lmao
i used to keep gon back tot his menu to hear this tune play when i waz like young i waz born 1992 and cuz neva stop playin diss game...bring back the 90,s and im gnna go out tmo buy a ps1 and gex !!!!
Thank you for uploading, LambdaLocator! This game was like 50% of my childhood. I loved it SO much and still do! Very grateful to find the music here. As a child I always tried to record the music from my computer speakers! Hahahaha!
Cynthia Bell might be too late of a response but I played this game back in 2005 on my playstation 1. I was lended the system from my father. I was playing this game and Spyro really late
I really like how they made the menu with traveling trough it :P When I was a kid I hoped this was a bonus level if you did beat Rez. I wish they made this as a bonus level. The level looks pretty cool.
Man, the more I watch and listen to this, the more older I feel lol. Such a Nostalgic, which takes me back to the past, of the good times I had as a kid, from gaming, to TV shows and all that jazz. This game was so underrated, but truly a gem and a masterpiece. EIDOS really made some amazing games back then. I would love to see a remake of this, or remaster on modern consoles. In fact, I did hear something about the game make a reappearance to modern consoles, which I am very excited about. Going further, where this game was so ahead of it's time, with the futuristic sci-fi levels, or when revisiting the past, etc. Not to mention, that the levels themes were spot on, as they met the setting, of the time it took place in, like the Horror level, Chinese level, Toon level, Prehistoric level, Space level and much more. Lol, even the Godzilla level was fun, same for the Indiana Jones Bonus level. The cutscenes looked almost realistic, even from the commercials. This game, had always tripped me out as a kid, and really made my inner imagination, spin with thoughts of pure wonders. I just got so lost in this game, taking in everything I saw throughout all the levels, even from listing to the music, Sound fx, voice acting, etc. As amazing that all was, I always found myself frustrated, with facing the enemies and going through all the annoying obstacles. But hey, still fun.
Ohhhh my childhood. I recently went back to this and was horrified to realise that Leslie Phillips was the localised voice actor for the UK. It was an American Improv guy originally :O
Considering how cool the world looks in the main menu of all places, I wish that was the media dimension hub world we could have explored in as we searched for the TV entrances to levels, bonus stages and boss battles!
Technically the Gex tracks are PS1 chiptunes, because they are programmed into the PS1’s sample-based sound chip :) Not using Redbook CD music means this game is only about 250MB in size! (Less than half of the maximum CD capacity)
Gentleman, we are back in action.
Spyro, Crash and Gex. The Three game series I absolutely loved during the 90s on PS1
Golden Trio
Mine too along with Rayman and Croc ❤
Gex was the Deadpool in the 90s.
But Wasn’t Deadpool the Deadpool of the 90s?
Gex is the superior version of Howard the Duck. Goofy 4th wall breaking animal that gets human females for "escapades".
Agreed, but Duke Nukem was more deadpool-y than Gex. I still love gex though.
@@buzzcutinteractivethey both sport the shades 😎
To rephrase that, Gex is the animal version of Deadpool.
Gex Trilogy just got announced!! We are so back!
Turns out its only a remaster, not remakes 🥺
@@TDKiller415 they should've had the same treatment like crash and spyro did. but, oh well!

Oh man This menu theme...... I always LOVED the beginning of this song!
EPIC ASS FCK
The music for the menu is very classic; it has a house music vibe to it; the chords are awesome.
This is the song of my childhood.

When I heard this theme for the first time a few years ago I was like:
"Yes, I am ready for this!"
lol, nice.
_-struggling not to correct spelling :)-_

-Maybe an evil tactic of mine?-
I thought you were doing it on purpose.
-Very evil-
wow this is an old game I remember playing this wen i was little.
Tycro Rogers I said: I'm comin' through !
Perhaps the greatest opening to Ps1 main menu ever... Top 10 anyway.

JediKnightwing the first one is great too👍

I bought a PS1 copy of this game after years of playing it on the N64.
That whole main menu segment literally melted my heart.
This is late, but yeah it's pretty sad that the n64 version cut that intro cutscene. It's a pretty cool and memorable part of the game for me.

This is just like playing Animal Crossing amiibo Festival at Scott the Woz's house.
I haven’t seen blasts like this since I played Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash inside of a blue border
This is the most beautifully depressing and true thing I have read. -A tear is shed in the silent mourning of good gaming-

Better times, better games, better humor.
His witty comments, the scenery of the stages and the overall feel you get when playing it being a few others.
One of the main reasons why Gex was so amazing was because of the great music.
