I refused to play any Scream TV levels late at night when I was I kid. Even if I wasn't alone. The music and atmosphere scared the shit out of me. Ah those were the days. ^_^
I remember how I used to rush through the scream tv levels as fast as possible, I dreaded them so much as a kid. Those demonic screams in the background spooped me, lmao. Even though it's a parody, they managed to nail the unsettling cheesy horror vibe.
I KNOWW!!! AHAHAHAH I KNEW I WASN'T THE ONLY ONE. And that level with the morgue was my bane, I was so scared of it I was only able to get that remote by doing the entire morgue part with my eyes closed!
Thank you!! I thought i was the only one lol i remember hiding in my sleeping bag when i was way eay younger while my older brother played this level on the good old play station
If he returns I'm going to flip out. I really thought Spyro was going to be remembered by the newer generations as the dragon in Skylanders (not saying its a bad game.) But he came back so I'm hoping Gex will too.
I couldn't complete this level as a kid because i was shitless scared. And that fucking zombie that you hit, he looses leg and keeps following you. Looses an arm, stil follows. Losses head, still follows... >.>
This level ose one of the scariest in gaming to me when i was younger. The part with the ghost flying around in the dark under that platform. And the screaming and glowing lights. It was just plain old scary. So good
That woman was a legitimate jumpscare for me lmao. Only time the level scared me was that freaking screaming because you don't expect it and she pops out of nowhere.
Gex was one of the only series that knew how to reflect tone perfectly with the different levels in the games. The Scream TV levels are proof of that and I genuinely was scared to play them haha. Even down to hearing the music lol. If Gex returned I can see them not only trying to do the different tones or costume in each level but maybe change the artstyle of Gex as well to reflect that level. Like say if we got a remake of Gex 3 for example. I can see them making Gex more anime with a cel shaded or anime style to match the Anime level…
This was the Shit! Gex, Spyro, Crash, Croc and Rayman, five PS1 icons that will never be forgotten!!!... and this scared me when I was small, them green f@####g zombies and the woman screaming man!
+John Williams Damn you named the same characters of the ps1 era that i wont forget either. I didnt like Rayman as much as the the other four and Spyro was my favorite. My favorite in this order are Spyro, Crash, Gex, and then Croc.
+Sammy Higgs Crash was the shit! Then Spyro ;D Oh the good ol PS1 days,, PS4 is like "Greatness awaits" im like, "Dude.. greatness is/was here, PS1" Haha,, 1. Crash 2. Spyro 3. Oddworld Abe series 4. Gex.... etc.
These levels didn't scare me as much as the music did. The music always gave me the feeling that someone aside from myself was in the room whenever I played these levels alone. And needless to say, my younger brother would sometimes walk into his room while I was playing and I would be so focused on the game that I couldn't hear him and he would scare me to the point where I would run out of his room. I can't tell you how many times I nearly peed on myself from him scaring me, and I was 8 years old.
When you're playing these levels combined with the thunder, the screaming and all the monsters groaning for your blood, it just multiplies the horror factor of this track so much... Gex's quotes don't make it easier, it's more like he's mocking me >.>
Hucky the doll was creepy af as a kid, just running around trying to stab you, especially after you knocked his head off. Gex definitely had music that set the mood. This is a fave along with Rezopolis, In Drag Net and The Pre-History Channel.
Yeeees, that doll was creepy, actually it's knife, soo sharp, spiky. I remember haha. I was like 7 years old :). Great times. Now find something similar today for kids... nothing

this level terrified me as a kid, to the point were i'd sometimes even avoided it even though i knew it was needed to 100 percent the game. i'm not sure how i'd handle it now as an adult.
I always felt like the N64 had the most cursed graphics but this game out of any title was the most cursed to me. The combination of the abstract visuals that made you try and figure out what the heck you were even looking at in combination with the element of surprise and horror the enemies would give when pursuing you on top of music like this playing scared me to the bone when I was a kid. Even now at 30 years old I still get intense flashbacks to the fear I used to have while playing this game.
yuuup. id hide when my mom played these levels. the ghosts and bloody armor suits. and the zombie getting zapped under the stairs if yout tailed the clock in the 2nd one x.x
This track is super atmospheric, plus the 0:51-1:12 part could be used in some hip-hop beat. Just great! One of the best songs from the Gex series. Plus in the game you have all those screams over the track.
This is the level featured in the demo on the sampler disc that came with my Playstation, and as such, I got well acquainted with this music. Favorite part is @ 0:51.
I remember clearly to simply hate, hate HATE those killer boys when i was a kid they were SO hard to kill i mea... now i understand the mechanics, it's simple... but when i was 8? HA think about a boy that stopped for several seconds to mentally prepare any contact with him ahahah they were SO scary man omg
I was scared of these levels as a kid but now that I'm an adult and I know games that are even scarier regardless of graphics, these levels don't scare me anymore!
Ohh, man. This level was my only experience of any Gex game, as I had it on the PlayStation Magazine demo disc 14, with several other demos of games to choose from. This one, however, I played more than the others, and I can certainly say that this scared the crap out of me more than any game I can remember from childhood. And I grew up with Doom on the PlayStation!
+ThePlamzJoker The places where you run into fellow video makers. Glad to see you're a Gex fan Joker. These levels terrified me as a kid I dunno why they did. They scared me enough to try to avoid the Scream TV levels and try to only play the ones for the Cartoons and the dinosaur levels and stuff. But eventually the freaky stuff will come. But by then I think you get used to it and it's not as frightening. But I still get some chills remembering how I'd get scared when I listen to this even now. XD
This level always scared te ever living Jesus out of me when I was a kid. The most terrifying thing were the ghosts around the red/green light. I never dared to come close, or when I did make it in, run back out. Hitting Frankenstein was always the funniest. I can also recall I had a nightmare when I was a kid from the changing painting room when you hit the switch. I can't exactly recall what it was completely about, but I was in that room and these paintings changed. That has scared me for a while.
This and Moosho Pork were the bane of my existence as a kid. Too scared and I even had nightmares about those. Doesn't help the fact that I also was playing Resident Evil 2 (those damn lickers).
"This place is bigger than Oliver Reed's bar tab." The enemies (with the exception of the faces in the walls) were the least scariest part of these levels. For me, it was always the creepy low quality portraits all over the walls of the mansion, especially in the haunted elevator and the giant picture with moving eyes. That and the blood-curdling female/demonic scream you sometimes hear in the background. The flooded toilets section was pretty funny though. As if the music wasn't already unsettling by itself.
That room/morgue with zombies where those drawers kept opening and closing, fucking hated that as a kid. Used to be shit scared of that dragon and its noise too in the Chinese level!! Gex fair to say was one frightening and eerie game but a brilliant one at the same time LOOL.
Loved this music, also if I remember it right, this was playing in the background of the Titanic level on the N64. Also the Gex quotes "Jason, Freddy. Freddy, Jason" "Now who would live in a room like this?" "I hate these low budget B grade levels"
Knocking off the Frankenstein's limbs and then smacking his dead body over and over afterwards was plain hilarious, and my younger brother loves that part! Yeah, the scariest thing about the Scream TV levels are those portraits and not the enemies and the random blood splatters. I didn't really like coming to these haunted levels when I was younger...
I remember being HORRIFIED of this section in this game.I was about 4-5 and scared of everything. This didn't really help but god now I really wanna dig up my old PlayStation and wreck the house lookin for this game and replay it again
Hey kid wanna play a game? How about Gex 3D! Its a kid-friendly platformer in the style of super mario 64! Alright so the first level is inspired by adult horror movies with walking zombies, scary music, blood and death! Happy gaming!
Chilling memories...this used to scare the shit out of me when I was little...the ghosts around the light were the worst...and just what was that growling thing in the wall?!
I wanna remake the first scream tv level in unreal engine. Afraid, though since chrystal dynamics filed for a new trademark, I feel a remake is very soon
I can play this level without being scared like I was as a kid. Ahhhh the nostalgia. The 3D face coming out of the wall, the blood-coolers, the toilets overflowing...
the scariest part for me as a kid were the ghosts in the lights. i couldn't bring myself to do it, and id usually find a way to cheese it bc i got way too scared even just seeing the ghost. and another thing that has stayed with me all these years is the huge morgue room covered in blood...i always thought i just imagined it. shit freaked me out
My favorite part is at 2:06 and 3:15 The music gives the level a nice creepy atmosphere, like somethings watching you. I have played this level a countless number of times and although i know where the enemys are the music gives the effect that they are behind you or watching you.
"No haunting before 10 p.m."
Very scary eh kids?
The exact same thing i say when an aire current moves a door that Wasn't completely closed.

Help.
Makes 100% sense though nothing is legit scary until after dark
I refused to play any Scream TV levels late at night when I was I kid. Even if I wasn't alone. The music and atmosphere scared the shit out of me. Ah those were the days. ^_^
The Titanic level scared me more when I was kid. On the n64 version , this level uses the same music.
First we had Scream TV, now we have PT
The portrait with the eyes slowly moving back and forth makes it even more eerie!
I know, it was creepy!
@@iHemme14 That is terrifying

Yes he does. Some games are being remastered now. Let's hope for this underrated character to return.
If he returns I'm going to flip out. I really thought Spyro was going to be remembered by the newer generations as the dragon in Skylanders (not saying its a bad game.) But he came back so I'm hoping Gex will too.

The scariest part was stay in the light.
The morgue part of these levels scared the shit out of me when I was a kid.
The morgue was so freaking scary.
What scared me the most about this level was when the Mona Lisa painting stretched up the wall and she had a snake body. That stuff messed me up lol.
This level ose one of the scariest in gaming to me when i was younger. The part with the ghost flying around in the dark under that platform. And the screaming and glowing lights. It was just plain old scary. So good

i do. that freaked me out.

Retro Gaming Guitarist That's...not really a quip relevant to the horror levels.
The scariest parts of these levels for me were those wall faces that would try to bite Gex.

that off screen scream always gave me the chills
I still like this OST and it beats lots of others.

Having watched Deep Blue Sea, now every time at 0:50 I am reminded of it, as they used a very similar tune to show the shark entering the lab.
Funnily enough that this soundtrack was used in a Roblox game called High Tide that has 2 teams, divers and sharks. Its basically Depth in roblox
