Medal of Honor: Above & Beyond was just announced.
It's a VR exclusive set in WWII. Disappointing.. but his is the first we've heard from the franchise in a long time, maybe it will finally come back?

I really don’t mind it being a VR title honestly. After seeing what Respawn was doing with this concept it makes me want a Oculus Quest even more.
So what if it’s a VR title? I’m just glad that the Series is finally making a return. And in the hands of the creators of Titanfall too!

Keiji Johnson Titanfall 1 and 2 and Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order 😀. If anyone can revive the franchise, it’s Respawn. And what’s funny is that, a lot of that team worked on the original Medal of Honor games, then created Call of Duty, and now they are back to MOH

Trailer looks very promising, although I do not have VR. With how well video games have done during the pandemic, the time to revive the series is now or never.

I’m very happy EA have allowed Respawn to revive the Medal of Honor IP, and while I haven’t played the new game myself due to not owning any VR headsets it looks really cool, I just hope they keep the franchise going now, and maybe release some titles for PC and the new Series X and PS5 as unfortunately not everyone can afford a VR headset...

Thanks to Spielberg I learned a lot about WWII from Saving Private Ryan, MOH:Allied Assault and also watching Band of Brothers around that time. I also agree Medal of Honor (2010) was underrated. The campaign was short but solid. The dark and real story felt very mature, almost like SpecOps The Line.

That would be a great game. Sadly EA has earned their reputation as franchise killers. Once they mismanage a franchise, they stop making new games and are unwilling to sell it to a developer that cares. Therefore, the franchise gets lost into the annals of history. It’s more realistic that we might be able to talk EA into making a current Gen remaster of these classics.

From a strictly multiplayer analysis, Rising Sun was revolutionary and great. It featured a splitscreen co-op campaign and to the best of my knowledge, also was the first to introduce bots into multiplayer, which became a key feature of COD and Gears of War games. The multiplayer allowed many new game modes and let you control what kinds of weapons were allowed. There is lots of fun to be had here; I just wish that it had a newer port than Gamecube, Xbox, and PS2.

I loved Medal of Honor frontline. Played it over and over as a young lad. There was a cheatcode that gave enemies silly headwear. One was a ship from the D-day landing, so you could see him from miles away moving around, with the ship clipping through stuff 😅

I remember seeing Saving Private Ryan as part of history class combined with English lessons. Think age of the class ranged 12 - 13. It was quite a shock watching it, but also very fulfilling and interesting. Still one of my all time favorite movies.
The movie is actually based on a real story of Sullivan brothers. Althought not as dramatic as the movie, and in the end 2 of 4 brothers died, as the last brother was presumed dead but was found a year later in a Burmese POW camp severely weak and skinny. So two brothers survived in the end, but their parents did receive 3 notifications in a very short time, that 3 of their sons had been killed, which lead to the last surviving son being found and send back to the US to serve as an MP.
Imagine if the brothers had lived to see their story in Saving Private Ryan. That's a huge honor to them.

It's funny, both Call of Duty and to a lesser extent Battlefield, were both inspired by Medal of Honor and took several elements (as well as staff) from the respective teams working on Medal of Honor to make their own games. They took what Medal of Honor had created and established and added to it, innovating it and making it better. It's kind of sad to think that Medal of Honor and GoldenEye, these two now defunct game franchises, were the foundation and basis for shooters as we know them today. They may have fallen to the side of the road and been left behind, but they won't be forgotten.

MOH 2010 is one of my all time favourite games, i think it was the first game on console i ever played that had a legit peak mechanic, where you could use your analog stick to bob around and peak from cover from multiple angles and the mechanic where if you continued too click melee you would keep stabbing the body, that was brutal. I played it at a time where i was discovering more tactical games (having been a fan of rainbow 6 and the conflict desert storm games as a kid) the missions were slow and methodical with moments of intense action and the missions just felt legit, you actually felt like a ranger behind enemy lines conducting special operations. it was a great game, one of the first games i could speed run in a few hours, i knew every nook and cranny of that game at one point. ive been thinking of getting it on steam, i imagine it has aged remarkably well.

In an old Aftercare I used to go to, there was a PS2 (the PS2 is still there, but it is no longer used, instead they are now using a PS3 Super Slim we donated, or lost, I don't know, I can't remember.)
The owner, Rocky, (I was bullied there a lot as a kid and Rocky was usually there for me) was a veteran of (I'm guessing the South African Border War), and thus had quite the collection of war games.
The most common games we played were two Medal of Honor games, mainly Vanguard and European Assault.
I was really bad at these games as I wasn't very good at games as I am now, but eventually I learned what "aiming" is and eventually started dominating FPS games there.
Nonetheless, Medal of Honor will go down as one of my early favorites, alongside the Tomb Raider series, Need for Speed series and Spider-Man : Shattered Dimensions.

It's amazing how COD has managed to stay very relevant while two of it's biggest competitors, Medal of Honor and Battlefield, have seemingly fallen apart.

Sup Nick930 Would you please do Medal Of Honor vs Call Of Duty Direct Comparison? Thanks

  • @nickgraff9413
    @nickgraff9413 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Medal of Honor: European Assault was my introduction to the FPS genre, back when I was able to convince dear old mom to let me rent it from Family Video for a few days. That was just a few months after release, I had turned 13, and I needed something to play over Christmas Break. I'm 29 going on 30 now, and after the release of Above and Beyond, I honestly don't think the Medal of Honor series can make a comeback. It was struggling when I first started playing, Call of Duty and Battlefield were the superior FPS franchises and still are, and after Airborne, the reboots were just the last dying gasp to cling to the short glory days.

I need to go through and play through it again. It's probably one of the better games in the series! That and Pacific Assault, Frontline, and MOH 2010

In the following year i was *very* keen on borrowing friends & family's other MOH titles.
only to find out Rising Sun was the (best/) most fun game so far.

I only really have experience with MoH Allied Assault out of these. I used to play the multiplayer a lot, including clan matches, mods and everything. To me, the new game Hell Let Loose is like its spiritual successor. It's focused on a realistic ww2 multiplayer experience. It's what MoH "should" have been in 2019 had the franchise developed ideally.

MOH:Airborne had such nerve-racking competitive multilayer. The campaign was boring, but the multilayer was so hardcore. I remember coming
Across the same people on the game (I had bought my ps3 2012 and MOH:Airborne was the first fps I owned). You never knew who was going to be the best player because every map truly played differently

Airborne is hella fun, still one my most replayed games to this day, in fact just cause I skipped a difficulty and beat the game on expert awhile ago, before then I played on casual, never played on normal and went straight to expert which is in my opinion the ideal difficulty, expert

Medal of Honor Warfighter is one of the most underrated games, I don’t care what anyone says it was and still Is a great game, and it’s unfortunate nobody gave it a second chance, as yes it may have released with a few dozen bugs, but what game hasn’t? Like our beloved Battlefield suffered from the same sort of issues, but did we give up on it? No. I hope they do make a return back to the modern setting, I’m definitely keen to another game!
