Far cry on next gen hardware would look incredible! It was impressive seeing what they could push out of farcry 5. I think it would be an interesting choice to go with a more urban environment for the new game, changing up the stealth and gameplay quite substantially, but still allowing lots of buildings and streets to explore. here's hoping Ubisoft will announce something for farcry (or a new splinter cell)
My biggest gripe with 5 was the absence of the kukri/knife takedown system, my second biggest gripe with 5 was that the majority of the guns in the game were horrible and there was nothing we could do about it. 4 is just a better balance of the much more satisfying guns from 3 and the better movement mechanics and visuals of the later games. Also 4 had the recurve bow. I love the recurve bow. I get immense satisfaction from making a perfect long range chest shot with the recurve bow. I may or may not still hold several world records with the recurve bow. *RECURVE BOW IS MASTER OF ALL*
I'm playing for the third time far cry 4, it is my favorite far cry and I continue to find things that I didn't know. The graphichs holds on very well, and for me it looks better than far cry 5 and new dawn (exept the water). I hope to see a far cry with an engine similar to battlefront 2 or the new cod, with a tipe of villains similar to vass or min and WITH OUT LEVELS. FAR CRY ISN'T A GDR!
I actually liked the radio towers it added a very fun little side excursion and you had incentive to get them as it would give you a free weapon with each one and the hunting animals to craft the various holsters and bags was a very well and interesting touch to the games that allowed the player to get a unique experience not usually associated with the one man army type games and farcry 5 went pretty much right back to that and doesn't have the same replay value as the past 3 and 4 entries because there aren't as many side quests and rare animals to hunt like there were in those two games I'd prefer to see them go back to the way 3 was with an insane antagonist and the rare animals and hunting to craft your equipment with that is what made those games unique and so much fun to play.

One of the reasons i love farcry 3 do much is because it actually tried to explain why you murdered so many people. It had a genuine character arc and it was very interesting. At least to me it was.
And here iam still wondering is joseph seed really a relentless villian or a merciful father that embrace the every ingame charater despite their agitation
I agree, but the ending made no sense. There was no explanation why you need to murder your friend(s? cant remember) at the end. I did it of course, just to get the fucking cutscene :D
Far Cry Primal was a great game to never make again. I never found it awkward to play but I agree it was difficult to relate to the characters. That's what made me like the story, it was a new take on the old formula. I found myself feeling like a caveman when I made a torch and immediately had to test what I could light on fire. It was undeniably simplistic, but it was pure fun to get into
I always find shooting in first Far Cry the best. When you set the M4 to single fire and shoot enemys from a distance and air cross lights up on red ... love that feeling. Shooting was just so crispy
Far cry Primal was the best . .never has a game made me feel : "you know what . .this bend in the river looks good . .there is no where to go and its awfully frightening anyway . .I wish I could just stay here
Primal is my favourite of the series. The world is amazing, so detailed and immersive. Gameplay - especially with right settings like Survivor mode + Expert difficulty - is one of the most exciting and challenging experience I've had. And I actually like the characters and the story. It is short yes, but unique and focuses on themes like friendship, unity and humanity.
It was awesome - way ahead of its time, but that's where I stopped playing. Having those damn things running at me all the time and using all my ammo was exhausting.
Mutant Monkeys and the Trigent (One who use rocket) I fcking hate them Actually All of them even using the Normal Difficulty (Medium) accuracy of them pisses me of if i use higher than that i would have been so pissed me so much which is fun cuz u will challenged
Out of all the FC games I’ve played, 3 is definitely my favorite. It has the best story, great gameplay, and amazing graphics. I love every FarCry game that I have played so far with those being FC 4, FC 5, FC New Dawn, FC 3, and FC 3 Blood Dragon.
I'm so attached to this game series. These are the games I probably played more than anything else out there and I just love it so much. Can't wait for the 6 to come out
Finished Far Cry 3 again, maybe the fourth time, yesterday. Played 5 on the Xbox 1 and loved it. But 3 epic. The story line. Characters. Open world. Vaas. Man it is just brilliant.
It's interesting to see the comments from people stating their favorite version and realizing that every version has people who consider it their favorite. That's unusual and a tribute to how good each installment actually was. While each one will have things that could have been improved (at least in the eyes of some people), there are no complete trash versions (except in the eyes of a few, I guess). I enjoyed FC1 but lost interest in the series for a few years. I really enjoyed Primal exactly because the setting was different. As you state in your video, you can only do so much with a tropical island. At this point, my favorite has been FC5, although I wasn't a big fan of the DLCs. I enjoyed New Dawn a lot, but it felt like it should have been FC5's DLC. I particularly enjoyed seeing some of the same characters 15 or so years after FC5 ended.
im surprised you didnt like primal. personally its my favourite of the series behind 4 and by far the entry I spent most time on. learning the bow aim, taming and utilizing different animals for situations, the expanded possibilities of combat because of that companion system, the shift to melee weapons which each had different uses and mechanics. the same, hunting and gathering feel as 3 and 4, and the personal settlement to upgrade like 4 had. I get so jittery and excited just thinking about it, because of how well each mechanic worked together to keep me invested. by late game you had companions that were super strong and could ride to make everything easier instead of tedious and repetitive, which made getting 100% completion more enjoyable. i have such strong and profound memories of playing it.
I started playing PC games in 1993-94 (yeah I'm old lol) and it's just amazing to see how the gameplay and graphics have evolved. I have finished multiple times each FarCry on PC (1, 2, 3, Dragon Blood, 4, Primal, 5 and New Dawn). My favorites are : 1 - FC Primal ; 2 - FC 4 ; 3 - FC 3.
Far Cry 1, 2, and 3 had different feel to the gameplay, as if the developers were trying new and/or different things. Also, the world scenery, ambiance, and special effects were also different in all 3 of them (even though the 1st and 3rd were set on tropical islands). I loved the 2nd one for the way you felt immersed into the African scenery, with the sound effects too, and attention to details. Overall I think the first 3 were the best because there was something different in terms of gameplay, visuals, and story lines.... The rest that followed felt pretty much the same each time aside from obviously different locations and story lines, but overall feel to them was pretty much the same (same ideas in crafting, weapon wheels, skill sets, etc.). I wish they could bring back the style of Far Fry 2 scenery and gameplay!

Yes I actually got offended when he said what he said about it. I fuckin loved primal. It's what got me into the far cry series . Amazing environment. Great physics. And the weapons were beast.
First game is still and always be my favorite. Not that I didn't enjoy most of the other games but they really weren't Far Cry games that carried on from the original formula of FC1 and 2. Still decent games in their own right though
I felt Pagan Min to be a far superior antagonist than Vaas. His calm demeanor made him so much more interesting and made the few violent outbursts he had, so much more impactful. Also makes you doubt, even just for a little bit, whether he's the bad guy at all.
It was the best one because it cared about immersion, the developers cared about details and they didn't cover the screen in minimaps and flashing objectives in your face.
And enemies weren't glowing and you couldn't see through walls, and the gameplay matched the theme of the story, as opposed to 3 and 4, where the main character is some guy who's never killed anyone and suddenly turns into Rambo.
And its own thing was wasting my time by making me do boring, monotonous shit over and over again, getting in the way of the parts that are more enjoyable to play.
Far Cry 3 got me into buying a PlayStation 3! Man, I only played that game for months. I loved it. The total experience of outdoors on an postcard island, with so much to explore: nature, wildlife, weapons. And running into shady crooks. Exiting game. I'll never forget.

That 'cel-shading approach' to Far Cry 3's shadows isn't intentional. It's something wrong with the ambient occlusion in the game, which causes all of the character models to have small shadows outlining them where they shouldn't be. If by 'cel-shading' you mean like Borderlands, well Borderlands isn't cel-shaded. It's just what's called a 'toon shader' that is applied to the game. This is almost always the first misception about cel-shading which gets addressed when learning about materials and shaders in game development - that Borderlands isn't cel-shaded. A better example of cel-shading would be the character models in Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
New dawn is visually awesome but really short and boring once you beat the game honestly of you want a really big dlc go ahead and buy it but if you want a actual game wait for fc6
More than a year after the launch of Far Cry 5... There are many important things that were in Far Cry 3 an 4 but they removed it in the fifth game, specially hunting, radio towers and interesting collectibles. 3 had caves and underwaters secrets, allowing the map to have Relics all over the it and interesting exploring for these. It also had hunting for materials and hunting quests for rare materials used to make better equipment. Far Cry 5 also doesn't have rideable animals like in 4. I still remember playing poker and other minigames in the last games. Those are the things that most intrigued me in the franchise but the fifth game removed them, and even that way it's still not a bad game. Far Cry 5 has really good new features like the allies you can fight along with, interesting differences between each area of the map and part of the game, interesting progression, new combat features and vehicles. Since Far Cry 3, I think, the franchise always has some kind of mythological or religious thing, that always turn out to be related to drugs for some reason. Even after so many changes the franchise is still super interesting and I still play it to this day.
For me the best far cry game was far cry 4 because the main antagonist character we are fighting isn’t the bad guy and the real antagonist character was golden path
Big fan of the franchise. Purchased these games completely out of order, started with FC 4 with no idea what this game was about, first run with an open world game in anticipation of Ghost Recon Wildlands. I thought FC4 was great (except shangali). Next i purchased Blood Dragon, really neat, but short. Next FC5 and big time into Arcade, followed by New Dawn and last month picked up FC3. Can't wait until FC6! Never tried Primal, FC is a shooter game and it didnt fit the formula! Nice video.
Primal is my favourite bar none. I just love it, the setting, design, the different languages and its so immersive. I also enjoyed the weapons a bit more because by the 4th game I grew tired of the same formula each game more or less offered so it came at a good point, I also think Primal was a better fit for the drugs/narcotics/psycadelics theme each itteration seems to have to have for no good reason. But my favourites are Far Cry: 2 and Far Cry: Primal and I suspect it has a lot to do with the immersive components and the way they play a bit different than the others. I also liked 3, 4 and of course 5, aswell as the original, not the biggest fan of Blood Dragon though I think its my least favourite despite having a great soundtrack.
To be fair, Halo 2, doom 3 and Half life 2 all released quite a few months after far Cry and far cry came out of nowhere and blew everyone away with it's graphics and world.
@@jn166 Far cry 5 has the best storyline in my opinion (Eh its very hard to say if 3 isnt better) It made me hooked for a while but I really fucking hated it that they removed all the knifes etc. I feel that far cry 5 is more childish. Far cry 3 is most enjoyable for me all the knife takedowns the game itself is very fun to play. Far cry 5 has only good graphic and decent storyline. If they didnt remove the knifes and takedowns far cry 5 could easily be the best.
My only problems with far cry 4 was the balance of power missions . No matter which one you pick the other person will find a way to make you feel bad about your choice . And the other is just the fact that I didn’t feel like the golden path were actually good guys but just another side of the problem.
Far cry 1 was way ahead of its time only second to half life 2 in that time period. Far cry 2 was the most immersive gameplay. Far cry 3 was the most innovative, hunting and crafting was first time introduced. Compelling story.
Far cry 3 was, IMO the best of the lot. The storyline, the characters, the soundtrack (lit) and everything in it... The character arc was spot on IMO cause Jason was someone, initially a normal player like all of us. He slowly learns the way of the jungle. Vaas and Hoyt were arguably one of the best villains in any video game (definition of insanity- Vaas). Say what you may, but I really loved clearing outposts, planning on the best way to do it in, stealthily... :-P (sic)

There was a game on PC very much like farcry, Set in south America, The plot was your daughter had been kidnapped by the drug cartel and you had to rescue her, Its been a long time since I played this game and have forgotten what it is called , The only mission I remember clearly was towards the end of the game, You had to go to an air strip and defend a CIA operative while he fixed the plane so you could both escape, The game had all the farcry elements including Jaguars snakes and other animals that would attack you in the jungle.Would be great if someone can tell me the name of the game,
Fra cry 2 was hurt by the malaria thing and the grey scale kinda map and the weapons felt like tin cans , the water was dirty looking and the surroundings was kinda junky
LOL.. I didn't know was made by Crytek. Looks like they make demos for their Engine and they end up like huge games. Love both Far Cry and Crysis franchise. Great games.
I gotta say my least favourite farcry game is 5.. now the multiplayer was super fun.. but the story just didn't get me... I beat it but it didn't have the impact like the others did . And felt more like a chore to beat it just to justify buying it.
for me Far Cry 2 was the best the openworld was great i love the map idear wish they bring it back with some more refinements here and there. Would be so aweasome if the bring back the more realistic aproch from FC 2
I really enjoyed Blood Dragon and its humor. Jack Carver from the first Far Cry game should be brought back for another fun adventure that should not take itself seriously. Also FC 1 had the best theme music.
My fav is Far Cry 4! The graphics , gameplay , villain and the location are just amazing plus the story that is amazing! Chasing down convoys destroying them by riding an elephant and bashing into them. The amazing fast paced missions and the stealth of the game is just great adding to this the ability to choose between Amita and Sabal in the campaign plus the weapon variety. Is just awesome! And Ajay was a cool protagonist not like Jason that did everything to save his friends ,Ajay was amazing he liberated an entire country not just killed Pagan on the other hand Jason just saved some douchebags and killed two motherfuckers

i grew up playing the original Far Cry but when Far Cry 3 came out I was mind blown. Still one of the best games I've played.
Far cry 4 is by far my favorite in the series. I don’t know what about it is, but it has a certain charm that I can’t put my finger on

The first FarCry was great! Trigens were so scary, the dark wooded level where you are first introduced to them was thrilling.

Far Cry is really special for me. I had the chance to play the first and the third chapter and I always considered it one of the best open world game.

The FarCry series is one of the only franchises that holds its own in delivering a game.

I feel like I am one of few who liked primal. It is what got me into the franchise.
Far Cry 1 had an epic main hheme.

I loved 3 right from the beginning all the way to the end. I never tried 4 but 5 was a bit overwhelming in the start but turned out to be pretty fun.

I didn't play any other than far cry 5 but I have to say, far cry 5 is a damn good game.

Far Cry 2 is the best Far Cry. It cared more about doing its own thing as opposed to appealing to a market of casuals.
It was the best one because it cared about immersion, the developers cared about details and they didn't cover the screen in minimaps and flashing objectives in your face.
And enemies weren't glowing and you couldn't see through walls, and the gameplay matched the theme of the story, as opposed to 3 and 4, where the main character is some guy who's never killed anyone and suddenly turns into Rambo.
Still fun to replay going into 2019 in less than a month.
It's mine too although 4 and 5 are special to me for their own reasons..
And its own thing was wasting my time by making me do boring, monotonous shit over and over again, getting in the way of the parts that are more enjoyable to play.
Far Cry 3 got me into buying a PlayStation 3! Man, I only played that game for months. I loved it. The total experience of outdoors on an postcard island, with so much to explore: nature, wildlife, weapons. And running into shady crooks. Exiting game. I'll never forget.

Far cry 4 has more open world elements such as random encounters and more varied missions. That's why I think 4 is better than 3

That 'cel-shading approach' to Far Cry 3's shadows isn't intentional. It's something wrong with the ambient occlusion in the game, which causes all of the character models to have small shadows outlining them where they shouldn't be. If by 'cel-shading' you mean like Borderlands, well Borderlands isn't cel-shaded. It's just what's called a 'toon shader' that is applied to the game. This is almost always the first misception about cel-shading which gets addressed when learning about materials and shaders in game development - that Borderlands isn't cel-shaded. A better example of cel-shading would be the character models in Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

New dawn is visually awesome but really short and boring once you beat the game honestly of you want a really big dlc go ahead and buy it but if you want a actual game wait for fc6
Far Cry 4 - PERFECT in every aspect imo
Primal is actually my second favorite far cry game and it the game in the series I’ve replayed the most
More than a year after the launch of Far Cry 5...
There are many important things that were in Far Cry 3 an 4 but they removed it in the fifth game, specially hunting, radio towers and interesting collectibles. 3 had caves and underwaters secrets, allowing the map to have Relics all over the it and interesting exploring for these. It also had hunting for materials and hunting quests for rare materials used to make better equipment. Far Cry 5 also doesn't have rideable animals like in 4. I still remember playing poker and other minigames in the last games.
Those are the things that most intrigued me in the franchise but the fifth game removed them, and even that way it's still not a bad game.
Far Cry 5 has really good new features like the allies you can fight along with, interesting differences between each area of the map and part of the game, interesting progression, new combat features and vehicles.
Since Far Cry 3, I think, the franchise always has some kind of mythological or religious thing, that always turn out to be related to drugs for some reason.
Even after so many changes the franchise is still super interesting and I still play it to this day.
For me the best far cry game was far cry 4 because the main antagonist character we are fighting isn’t the bad guy and the real antagonist character was golden path
Big fan of the franchise. Purchased these games completely out of order, started with FC 4 with no idea what this game was about, first run with an open world game in anticipation of Ghost Recon Wildlands. I thought FC4 was great (except shangali). Next i purchased Blood Dragon, really neat, but short. Next FC5 and big time into Arcade, followed by New Dawn and last month picked up FC3. Can't wait until FC6! Never tried Primal, FC is a shooter game and it didnt fit the formula! Nice video.
I can't decide between Far Cry 5 and New Dawn as my favourite Far Cry game.
I love 5 because of how perfect the story is.There are real cults in the world that do things like this and Far Cry 5 got that spot on
I liked the radio towers I was sad when it wasn't in fc5 but the new way of revealing the map does make you work more in exploring

Primal is my favourite bar none. I just love it, the setting, design, the different languages and its so immersive. I also enjoyed the weapons a bit more because by the 4th game I grew tired of the same formula each game more or less offered so it came at a good point, I also think Primal was a better fit for the drugs/narcotics/psycadelics theme each itteration seems to have to have for no good reason. But my favourites are Far Cry: 2 and Far Cry: Primal and I suspect it has a lot to do with the immersive components and the way they play a bit different than the others. I also liked 3, 4 and of course 5, aswell as the original, not the biggest fan of Blood Dragon though I think its my least favourite despite having a great soundtrack.

To be fair, Halo 2, doom 3 and Half life 2 all released quite a few months after far Cry and far cry came out of nowhere and blew everyone away with it's graphics and world.

@@jn166 Far cry 5 has the best storyline in my opinion (Eh its very hard to say if 3 isnt better) It made me hooked for a while but I really fucking hated it that they removed all the knifes etc. I feel that far cry 5 is more childish. Far cry 3 is most enjoyable for me all the knife takedowns the game itself is very fun to play. Far cry 5 has only good graphic and decent storyline. If they didnt remove the knifes and takedowns far cry 5 could easily be the best.

My only problems with far cry 4 was the balance of power missions . No matter which one you pick the other person will find a way to make you feel bad about your choice . And the other is just the fact that I didn’t feel like the golden path were actually good guys but just another side of the problem.

Far cry 3 was, IMO the best of the lot. The storyline, the characters, the soundtrack (lit) and everything in it... The character arc was spot on IMO cause Jason was someone, initially a normal player like all of us. He slowly learns the way of the jungle. Vaas and Hoyt were arguably one of the best villains in any video game (definition of insanity- Vaas). Say what you may, but I really loved clearing outposts, planning on the best way to do it in, stealthily... :-P (sic)

There was a game on PC very much like farcry, Set in south America, The plot was your daughter had been kidnapped by the drug cartel and you had to rescue her, Its been a long time since I played this game and have forgotten what it is called , The only mission I remember clearly was towards the end of the game, You had to go to an air strip and defend a CIA operative while he fixed the plane so you could both escape, The game had all the farcry elements including Jaguars snakes and other animals that would attack you in the jungle.Would be great if someone can tell me the name of the game,

Fra cry 2 was hurt by the malaria thing and the grey scale kinda map and the weapons felt like tin cans , the water was dirty looking and the surroundings was kinda junky

It was co developed with Ubisoft. Crytek did all the cutscenes and engines whilst Ubisoft did the gameplay...

I gotta say my least favourite farcry game is 5.. now the multiplayer was super fun.. but the story just didn't get me... I beat it but it didn't have the impact like the others did . And felt more like a chore to beat it just to justify buying it.

I really enjoyed Blood Dragon and its humor. Jack Carver from the first Far Cry game should be brought back for another fun adventure that should not take itself seriously. Also FC 1 had the best theme music.

There are only 3 far cry games: the original, 2 and 3. The rest are slightly different versions of far cry 3.
My fav is Far Cry 4! The graphics , gameplay , villain and the location are just amazing plus the story that is amazing! Chasing down convoys destroying them by riding an elephant and bashing into them. The amazing fast paced missions and the stealth of the game is just great adding to this the ability to choose between Amita and Sabal in the campaign
plus the weapon variety. Is just awesome!
And Ajay was a cool protagonist not like Jason that did everything to save his friends ,Ajay was amazing he liberated an entire country not just killed Pagan on the other hand Jason just saved some douchebags and killed two motherfuckers
