It's not about hits, it's about quality. Adam is a very prolific songwriter and, if you watch TV, movies or listen to the radio, you've heard his songwriting.
Saw this clip for the first time last night, and right before it I watched a mini-documentary about how the band, especially Chris, hated the idea of being defined by a novelty hit. Adam looks a little happier than the rest, perhaps seeing the positive side of having a hit.
It was all over the news. Conan did an awesome tribute to him on his show, April 1st. The cast (the Wonders) of That Thing You Do did a special viewing of the movie with commentary to raise money to help victims of the Covid virus (all victims...people who lost their jobs, small businesses who had to shut down, etc.) and they did a dedication to Adam...mentioned him a few times.
What a crushing loss. Adam will be missed. Prayers and love to his family. RIP Adam
RIP Adam Schlesinger :(
wtf this was 4 years ago 😭😭😭💀💀 covid was freaking 4 years ago
I love the song and the band. Until now 2020 Im still listening
The videoclip is unbeatable. This live one I can’t
Still listening to this in 2020. Love this song :)
forever a banger
I will always love Fountains Of Wayne... RIP Adam
great song and performance. RIP Adam Schlesinger. taken from us far too soon
that whole CD is great, love Fountains of Wayne.
I think the same way. Welcome is one of their best albums, (and my FOW favorite)
First 3 albums are fantastic. No filler.
This was the day after I was born
RIP Adam.
Adam Schlesinger RIP
to be COMPLETELY honest i did do and/or PROBABLY will really LOVE the fountains of wayne
very nice song...
Highest tuned snare I've ever heard Brian use
It's really high, there's another video from around the same time on Leno with what sounds like the same snare. Not sure I like it with their style
Great performance, but why the distortion on Chris's part in the 2nd verse?
all love to Adam but Chris Carried this band In so many ways.
Adams writing was superior but Chris really elevated it to another level
Definitely some influence from The Cars, why'd they only have one hit
its supposed to sound like the cars, it was an homage to them

It looks like they are all sick or they all had a huge argument.

Great
Is it me or were they always using different guitars for each performance 😂
Wow, a live version where they aren't pushing the tempo 😅
I felt sorry for Adam.
WTF ? Are you guys sure he died of corona virus? Can't believe it. Anyway R.I.P
