    For simply cleaning your golf hat, baseball hat, or any other hat, we use the Magic Eraser (support the channel with paid link here: Mr. Clean Magic Eraser - amzn.to/39tlT58). You could also use other similar, non branded products as well.
    In this video, we show you our technique for cleaning a hat, especially hats with extreme sweat stains. We also give an example of cleaning a white hat, as we know how easily dirt starts to show.
    As with trying any new cleaning technique on a hat, make sure to test a small area first to make sure you won’t damage the entire hat. We have used this cleaning technique on multiple types of hats made of different materials, and it has been quite effective.
    We did a follow up video in a TH-cam short to show another example of us cleaning a hat with the magic eraser, but showing the hat completly dry one day later ( • Follow Up to Our “How ... .

      I bet spraying water on hat, then vacuum it will remove the sweat stain. Salt would have to be sucked out if fibers, rubbing with a eraser won't do b the job. Lol on this

    • @garyb354
      @garyb354 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      @@wavydude5560 No, I don’t think so. To me, the hat looked like it was still wet. They never really showed it to us when it had fully dried. There is no way it can restore colorization to an obviously faded hat in addition to the sweat, body oils, and grime. And I don’t understand how it could remove body oils that have penetrated into the material. You need a soap product to emulsify the oils. Their suggested product may only be good for some light surface dirt. I think there is truly some magic going on here!

    • @milesmeow

    Another great way to clean hats is to “take it into the SHOWER” with you and clean it the same way you shower yourself. It will remove ALL stains and sweat smell along with keeping the bill perfect. You may use a little scrub brush lightly around the inside or on tough stains. Haven’t tried a “Magic Eraser” yet but it is on the list now. This technique has worked awesome on all my golf, fishing, yard work, garage hats. Good luck

      Yep, can't agree more. All the same crud that gets your hair filthy, gets your hats the same way. So, cleaning it with the same product works. A little shampoo will do ya and rinses it all away nicely. I have been doing it this way for years with hats and before that with my uniform hats it my Army days. Oh, and it keeps wool and cotton hats from shrinking and distorting as well.

    Twenty years ago I read an article on this subject and this method works great. Place the dirty caps into a clean empty dishwasher on the top rack and use dishwasher detergent and leave in there through the drying cycle and then open and allow to completely air dry. This method cleans and sanitizes and does not destroy the shape of the caps and visors.

    Late to the party, but I've always used shampoo. May as well use a soap design specifically for the gunk on the hat and its wool safe for my good ballcaps. I put a lot on the dirty areas of the hat, work it in good with no water and let it sit for 5 or ten minutes to break down the hair oils and salt. I do that while I take a shower so when I'm done scrubbing myself I can scrub and rinse out the hat. Hang dry and good as new.

      I've ruined every hat I ever put in the wash with some clothes. The bill material shreds. Every time. Never tried one of those gadgets supposedly designed to hold and protect your hat in the washer. I suspect they're bogus in their claims. Will try the shower thing-- could have them all done in a week. But, since I'm kinda lazy, may take a month because I won't include a hat every shower. Also, not willing to risk Mickey and all his cartoon buddies on my Disney World hat-- careful observations of my other hats in this process will be made prior to that evolution of the process.

    • @garyb354
      @garyb354 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, they won’t unless it is a picture of a different hat, or maybe the same hat that has actually been cleaned by another method using a soap product. You need a soap product to emulsify the body oils that have penetrated into the fabric of the hat, then wash them down the drain. What happens to all the dirt, sweat and body oil they supposedly cleaned? They don’t rinse the hat to flush it away. It doesn’t seem to be on the eraser. They needed that hat to be wet in order to mask the dirt still on the hat. It is also the only way it could appear darkened.

    I just scrub mine with a bar of soap and an old toothbrush. To dry I ball up a bath towel so it fits really tight inside of the hat. Place it in front of a fan for 3-4 hours and it's good. The only problem there is the hat gets a little stretched out and needs to be worn a little until it fits you just right again.

    • @GolfAscending
      @GolfAscending  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Interesting solution. The stretch out part would definitely be concerning though.

    • @threezysworld8089
      @threezysworld8089 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@GolfAscending The stretching is from cotton absorbing water. When you wear the hat it starts shrinking as the fibers dry out. It's no different than wearing a wet Tshirt versus dry- wet is loose and baggy until it's fully dried out.

    Another way, is the delicate cycle on the washing machine set for 6 minutes. Use a pre stain spray for the sweat stains and add OXY clean to the water. You can soak the caps in the water for a while, before washing. Last step, blow up a balloon enough to fill the cap cavity. Use a clothes pin to hold in the air while the cap dries, then you are able to reuse the balloons in the future.

    You can find a “hat cage” you can place your hat in for washing in your dishwasher. It works really well. Hats don’t do well when scrubbed with cloths and sponges and you can’t simply wipe the inside of the “sweat band” inside your hat. The dishwasher method works well, the best I’ve ever tried, because it soaks the hat with soap and rinses well. Retain the shape by letting the hat dry in the cage.
