    Sad when things don’t work out with the preemie lamb. Also, I have to agree with one of the other subscribers, the ewe with the cold udder looks to have gangrenous mastitis. That the udder skin is turning black is one of the signs the tissue is dying. I think it worth consulting the vet to see what treatments are available and decide if the ewe is worth saving or even can be saved. Take care, Will.

    Word of caution about dangling loops of twine in case a lamb snares it’s head. Good to see you floor feeding now.

    Another great video Will. I suspect the ewe with the mastitis has gangrenous (gangrene) mastitis and she will lose that 1/2 of the udder (it may slough off). LIkely it will be E coli bacteria. These ewes can die from it as well. Hope the treatment works.

      And frostbite kills tissue too. Good that Will got the test to the Vets.

    Hi Will, keep a close eye on that ewe whit the cold bag. I lost a ewe on that a while ago. Its not a pleasant kind of mastitis. The bag wil not heal. Greatings from Holland.

    Shame about the little one. Mother nature at large.
    I am being a nosy bugger and have a few questions: do you log the adopted lambs to their birth or foster mum? Think about keeping track. And do you throw out the drop-out (for whatever reason: mastitis, no milk, still borns, ….) mums from your breeding programme? What are the plans with the c-section ewe? Just wondering how you deal with these kind of set backs.
    Can‘t wait for the first bunnies to hit the ground 🍀 happy lambing

    Your ewe with the cold quarter with the cold quarter is most likely black mastitis

    When you are referring to the sire for the B flock you say it's an "aber black" or something like that. Am I mishearing that?

    • @CowleyHillFarm
      @CowleyHillFarm  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep that is correct. They are a composit breed made up from Suffolk and Charolais and then stabilised and performance recorded

    Hi Will another great video! Do the lambs suck the synulox back out if you leave them on?

    • @CowleyHillFarm
      @CowleyHillFarm  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The hope is that 9/10 the mums kicks them off as it is painful to them to suck .
