    I had some PVC exterior 1 inch thick by 5 1/2 wide that I made some fences with scraps. They have worked out great. A little cheaper option as if you have one length is about 40$ and you can make multiple ones. I made one for dados and another for everyday rips plus building a taller one now for tall cuts. Great video Thanks

      I'd probably use plywood instead of this material and put t-track in it.

    • @HowIDoThingsDIY
      @HowIDoThingsDIY  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I think it could be routered, but I don't think it would be strong enough for something like that. However, you could probably router in a dado slot and put in a track. amzn.to/4giSiML

    Is that fence at 90º to the table? I have gone to much more effort to get the angle right - and failed.
    I guess it is fine for cutting rabbets/rebates.

    • @HowIDoThingsDIY
      @HowIDoThingsDIY  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I have set it to be 90 degrees but I haven't checked it lately. Is the problem that you can't get it set right or that it doesn't hold adjustment?

    • @lafamillecarrington
      @lafamillecarrington หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@HowIDoThingsDIY Sadly, both! The fence isn't great, so I added screws at each end to allow shimming. It didn't work very well, and also needed adjustment every time I used it.

    • @HowIDoThingsDIY
      @HowIDoThingsDIY  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@lafamillecarrington Ok. I typically set the blade parallel to the miter slots first and then set the fence parallel to the blade. Have you reached out to DeWalt to ask about you issues?

    • @lafamillecarrington
      @lafamillecarrington หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@HowIDoThingsDIY No problem that way. It is the verticality (?) of the fence. I was trying to use the saw to rip some boards into thinner panels. Just about succeeded, but far from perfect. Also, not a DeWalt saw.

    • @HowIDoThingsDIY
      @HowIDoThingsDIY  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@lafamillecarrington AH, so your fence isn't perpendicular to the table surface. I haven't actually checked that. I don't know if there is an adjustment for that or not. Best to make some sort of upgraded fence and then incorporate some sort of adjustment into it. I'll have to think about that.

    i just had to cut i piece of wood (Saman) 4 inches thick by 2 feet wide and a meter long with curved edges, the thing is that i didn't want the edges straight ( at 90 degrees angle) and wanted to cut right trough the middle of the wood.
    Long story short, i nailed a straight piece of wood at one curved edge of the "Saman" measuring from the center and the straight wood, the added piece would run on my saw fence right? (Is a trick i use, where i ad a piece of wood, but that ad the thickness of the added wood to the high of the cut, because the short fence i had to run that added wood on the bottom, these trick give me a perfect and clean edge at 90 degrees angle after the cut)
    Well, here is where the shit hit the fan, my table saw fence is only 3 inches high and my saw blade can only cut 4 inches high :)
    So, i had to cut twice on both sides and i hate that, these fence upgrade is perfect for that case scenario, so thanks i will do it :)

    I love sacrificial fences on my table saw, also love UHMW for very specific tasks (most recently I used it to create guides for 3/16” aircraft cable that was opening/closing elevator doors for a set). Just wondering why you would choose to use UHMW ($300 for a 3’ x 4’ sheet) over MDF ($60 for a 4’ x 8’ sheet). Same results at a fraction of the price.

    Very good. Short and to the point. It would be nice to also have a thinner piece of UHMW (maybe 1/8 inch) that could slip over the fence for those rabbet cuts. It could be screwed to a strip of wood with a 3/4 inch channel and hang off the thicker face to protect it. Cheaper and easier to replace.

      @@HowIDoThingsDIY yes sir, the in feed. There’s almost zero. It would be nice having a little more to register a solid beginning to longer cut. Imagine the fence sticking out past the table’s in feed. Maybe 6-8”. Now imagine a small platform the size of a clipboard. This would bolt down under the fence. The part that sticks out past what the tablesaw provides. Since it’s attached under the fence it both follows the stock being cut and also clears any stock coming in and simultaneously provides add depth/support. I’ll look for the video.
