Does Namibia look how you expected?
Looks better
True story
yeah it does it looks kinda "sleepy" to me tho especially compared to your other locations on the continent
cuz the population is low, 5million peeps. It needs more other africans from other countries to help fill it up. nigerians, ethopians, tanzanians, ghanians, Angolians, cape verdies, Equatorial guinea@@lynwoodbryant2939
Southafrica rule over Namibia

Hi Jay...be sure to see the burial ground of the Nama and Herero people while you're in Swakop. It's about a 25 minute walk from your guesthouse. Very sobering site. I was in Namibia for one month last year and loved it!

Saw you in swakopmund. I am one of those working out.
That's dope! Glad to have met you brotha.
Welcome to my Hometown
You have a beautiful country! Thanks for watching
I think the tree might be the monkey puzzle tree, originally from Chile and Argentina. It was popular in the 18th century Europe.
You have a good eye, I think that you are correct.
Thank you 🙏🏾 for sharing African beauty 😊western and USA lie to us that there’s no water in Africa even foods 😂

I loved Swakpmund (and Namibia as a whole)! That tree you said doesn't belong looks like a Norfolk pine, they actually are a coastal tree. They're everywhere in Australia and New Zealand along the coast. Not sure if you have ever travelled down under but there are a lot of similarities in the flora of Southern Africa (particularly the south of South Africa) and Australia and NZ due to latitude - also similarities with the south of South America as you noted, again due to us all being at a similar latitude.
Yes, I've been down to OZ. I'm hoping to go back in the future.
@@JayFocused Nice! Hope you make it to NZ too :)
Do you live in NZ?
@@JayFocused I'm from there! Actually just moved to the US for a year though. And was living in Aus for a couple of years before that.
@eljj7968
I gotcha. What part of US?
8:17 actually the city was built by namibians long ago. in 1877 is when the gerrmans just landed there.
I stick with what I said.
Stop lying
If you find out any new information about Namibia passing that bill their working on about giving citizenship to the diaspora... Definitely let me know cause I plan on moving to Namibia...
💪🏽🤴🏽👍🏽✊🏽
@thegod625
I think we will get reparations in USA before Namibia passes a citizenship bill for diaspora. In other words, don't count on it.
@@JayFocused Lol, I feel you and I'm definitely not counting on that bill or reparations my brother lol... I'd just like to know what they have to say about the updates of that bill for the diaspora... But they president just died in Namibia recently so I hope that doesn't effect that citizenship bill...
Whether the President was around or not, there were no concrete details released about this 'bill'. I wouldn't count on any African nation, especially a Southern African nation, creating a bill for the descendants of the slave trade (Atlantic or Islamic) to be granted automatic citizenship.
The only real country to attempt it is Sierra Leone and that requires a DNA test from African Ancestry only.
Well I don't think there is a need for that bill however there are already laws and regulations in place about when and one can aquire citizenship in Namibia. One simply need to familiarize himself/ herself with those laws are already in place see how to get in.

can you show the black neighborhoods, street and food markets. Is there waterfront land where blacks live? Do the german people still run the area?
More Namibian content coming...thanks for watching
Most of the properties near the sea are holiday homes. Owned by both blacks and whites. A lot of people in Windhoek own holiday homes in Swakopmund, which they rent out to tourists. Properties are relatively cheaper in Swakopmund compared to Windhoek. One does not necessarily need to be super wealthy to afford the properties there. I had colleagues earning around $3000 per month that own holiday homes there.
As for Germans running the area, politically, no. The ruling party has been in control of that town since independence. Maybe in the tourism sector. As for the retail sector, no Namibian white controls that as most of the shops are all from South Africa.
Some people say that the Germans have a monopoly when it comes to restaurants and hotels in Swakopmund. And gatekeep anyone who tries to enter that market that is not German, whether black or white. Swakopmund's economy is mainly service based, plus uranium mines that are nearby, which are mostly owned by international companies in partnership with a few black elites. The mine workers mainly stay in Swakopmund, they earn big money and majority of them are black.
The real money, though, is in Walvis Bay, which is some 30km south of Swakopmund. It's a logistics and industrial hub, so more business opportunities there for black people.
So wealthy people move to Swakop and retire there, foreign millionaires have been moving there over the years, while and those that are seeking opportunities move to Walvis Bay.
M_KK
Thanks, this more or less lines up eith my impressions
I spent a week in Swakopmund last year. I'm a white guy from the USA. I love Namibia! The black people of this city live in a slum called Mondesa. I toured it. And yes, German people definitely control the city. I felt like I was in a European city. I would not like to live in this city, but Walvis Bay would be nice.
👍🏽
Germany 🇩🇪 did found the city ❌the city was. Before colonisers.Africa countries were before colonisers 🙌🏾
Thanks for watching
and i did not see any sight of chinese . Poeple always complaining about chinese this , chinese that. NO beggers in namibia, no scamming goin on. etc...
There are beggars in Namibia...walk around the Windhoek CBD as a tourist and I guarantee you will encounter them. It's a nice country but let's not pretend it's a Utopia
Namibia is brilliant but if you want to relocate and live here PLEASE PLEASE don't bring the mindset and culture of America here.
It's great you enjoyed it
Thanks for watching
"Hake" and chips😂😂😂 it is pronounced as "haik".

iWish Africans would Rename the European colonized names of cities and sights around the continent.. . plus no shade, I actually dont like seeing colonial cities in Africa. It's a terrible look fr fr.
Unless you go to Ethiopia, most cities in Africa are 'colonial' on some level. But I hear you. Thanks for watching and kindly subscribe to support the channel
@@JayFocused So where can you go to get away from whiteness? I mean what beautiful ocean front City in Europe have Africans went and taken over??? It's so triggering.
I hear you. I think you could in China
I personally think the the names should be left as is, monuments for liberation fighter should be erected. To serve as a reminder to future generations what can happen if they forget their history, let another nation rule over them. The monuments to remind them of their strength and resilience. Serve as warning to any future foreign nation, that we as Namibians will always fight back no matter what.
@@Deoney2 No. it’s Africa. The labeling should actually represent the environment. Ugly german words even ruin the vibe of Southern Africa … Euro is wack
To get a more representative view of where ordinary Namibians live, you have to visit a place like Mondesa or DRC. What you showed was a very limited, privileged view.
Thanks for watching. There are plenty of other youtubers who focus on 'slum tours', 'poverty pimpin', and do things the same way that the mainstream international media loves to depict Africa, as a struggling impoverished place that tourists are smart to avoid. We've seen that narrative a million times. 😴
That experience is valid, but it isn't the entire story. My channel is focused on going beyond those clichés and showing the other side that a potential tourist or expatriate foreigner wouldn't know exists.
@@JayFocusedthanks
Are you sure it’s Africa I think you in Europe somewhere. quite playing

That is africa u clown. Southern africa is more developed than west east. Stop having this mindset africa is underdeveloped.
Tell me, what did you expect?
@therongunner
Are you adressing Eken68_ or me?
This the most UnAfrican country ive ever seen , European architecture, large population of whites , modern and clean one can mistake it for a European country
Thanks for watching
"Most UnAfrican" ? Due to Globalization and Trends the architecture looks European, white Namibians account for approximately 6-7% of the total population and being modern and clean surely doesn't make Namibia less African.
@@seanmagnus1520 that 6-7% of population is data from 2005 , the Namibian government doesn’t count population based on race anymore , so the population of whites have increased overtime , Swakopmund itself whites are the majority
Wikipedia gives 8% white from 2018 stats..I'd assume it's at 9% nationwide now.
That's not true, whites are minority @@pushingp6945
