    When the Ilysia kickstarter was going on it was revealed the guys behind making the game have zero experience in game making, and just hired a programmer. The feature creep in the kickstarter was also off the chains. They promised so much that sounded so pie in the sky for such an low amount of capital, as well as the experience of the team. If Ilysia is good I will eat my hat. I'd love to be proven wrong, but I don't think I will be. If it's good I'll eat all the crow in the world and buy it.

      From what I heard, it was the 2022 change to how they can receive funding that truly affected the development of the game further.

    Ilysia and Sword Islands are the 2 im most looking forward to playing whenever I can get a headset. Zenith is a close 3rd. In the future when weve had advancements and I get more free time I want to make my own VR MMO.

    • @Yamyatos
      @Yamyatos ปีที่แล้ว

      Ilysia is literally a scam. They have zero experience, and it shows. The game is a huge mess. Nothing works properly. They dont know what they are doing, neither VR nor MMO.

    • @YeetNation2006
      @YeetNation2006 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Yamyatos The game is too early in development to make assumptions. When it changes release state it could very well be a good and polished game, but as of now, there is no way of knowing that.

    • @Yamyatos
      @Yamyatos ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@YeetNation2006 Sorry, but dont be gullible. Of course there is a way of knowing. I know.
      And if you ever wrote a piece of non-trivial software (as your statement about planning to make your own VRMMORPG would imply), you should know too.
      MMOs are huge projects. VR just increases the workload. Like let's strip everything that makes MMOs take huge amounts of time in the first place, like the world design, class design, skill design, lore and most importantly content, content and boatloads more content. Ignore all of that and reduce it to the barebone requirements to even function.
      We are talking databases, efficient networking code and multi threading among other things. All of which are non-trivial topics that you can attempt to build quickly, but will inevitably fail longterm unless you know what you are doing. Unless you got the experience, it wont scale to tens of thousands of concurrent users, if you get it running in the first place. Small teams claiming to make MMOs are doomed to fail on the content part alone. That is, if we assume truly experienced developers, who know that they are doing in their respective fields. But a team that doesnt realise how futile the effort will be and makes wild claims about all the features they are going to include, lacks the experience necessary to fulfill these promises, on top of everything else.
      Team 21 was founded 2020, meaning they have no prior experience as a team, and consists of only 4 people. And i dare to say, none of them know what they are doing. It shows in the state of their product. I imagine their thought process to have been something along the lines of "Yo dude, remember sword art online? Wouldnt it be sick if we made a VRMMORPG? I never wrote a line of code in my life tho, but im sure it's fine". Three entire YEARS ago they were talking about making a physics based combat system, working on the collision system, and how everything's going to be velocity based. Just to name one of the many many features they promised. MMOs are huge undertakings, and if it was only content lacking, that's another story. But let's take a look at the state of things.. for just the very basics. The combat they talked about? Yeah.. so.. where is it? Where is even a *hint* of it? Maybe they have not yet figured out what a collider even is, or their networking architecture is bad enough to make up for it, but you basically miss 80% of hits that go straight through your enemies. There is no blocking or any sort of physics based combat either. All just hit animations. Atleast the enemies hit you tho.
      Im not sure how you can see the current state of the game and not realise how bad this is for 3 years of development. Just as an example, if you were to throw together a couple assets from the store, a single competent developer can probably throw together a more impressive tech demo than their entire 3 year effort in a couple of weeks. Now, throwing together assets is not really something you want to do for a project that's supposed to scale well, but if their 3 years of effort account for *even less* than you can achieve with that, how well is it gonna scale?
      So no. They wont deliver a decent game, and they certainly wont deliver on all their promises.
      At best they keep trying, but im pretty sure they figured out just how much they promised their backers by now, and realised they wont be able to deliver that.

    • @RedDevilVR
      @RedDevilVR  ปีที่แล้ว

      They did not necessarily mention win the game would be released honestly from the beta-2 it looks like there's still a lot of work to be done and a lot of player feedback to be gathered. However I do believe that they'll still do some sort of next testing phase to make sure that we all get a chance to check out the game and purchase it when they do I'll definitely make a video for you guys

    I like the fact you have to memorize the spells yourself. It adds so much more to the realism. You think you can just be isekai'd and know all the spells right off the bat just by clicking your fingers or something? Like nah u gotta learn the feel/incantations. So what if its "more difficult gameplay wise" life aint easy and that captures the art of actually feeling like youre learning the magic by having your brain put in the work.

    The Orbus type spell casting is great BUT.... Wand casting is dumb...
    It would be WAYYY better if they made spellcasting with both of your hands...
    Just use magic gloves or rings as the weapon items for casters...
    Think about how cool it would be to use both of your hands at the same time to shoot spells...
    It would be like you're Goku from dragon ball z or you're a jedi using force push...
    Or you could do something like conjure up a magic sword and shield by drawing them with your hands...

    4 months later, they've ditched any future updates to the MMO and are working on a different game instead.

    • @RedDevilVR

      That is actually untrue, they have announced that they will be working on both versions of the game. Calling this new version nexus. It splits to two different games one being the infinite realm seasonal pass version of zenith and the other being the original version of zenith.

    • @stevenk1872

      Was MY mindset initially too, but go back and play the first 3D games after pixel arts were mastered. It's the same thing here. Reducing image quality for expansion of gameplay based on hardware limitations. Otherwise these would be 3k-7k in price creating the elimination of any player base as these price points to get what you want, with the titles themselves costing 300-700 USD per game..... you lose %86 of the population base PERIOD, THEN even less due to the gamers that actually VR versus don't, that percentage is actually even less. I digress, the contention is the gameplay matters more, with time and investment we will get that. Until then, play Killing Floor or Contractors etc. if you want realism. (the games are of far smaller scale in terms of "open world"
