Even though it's called an "Interocean", it looks as though it didn't see a lot of ocean (salt water), before it got stashed away. Good news for you. That leather thumb brake is a great design idea, especially, for salt water fishing. I have a freshwater Pflueger, from the 40/50s, which does not have that and it would be nice, if it did.
@@zapa1pnt I’m pretty sure that most of the white crusties that were on the reel at the start, are salt. The spool, handle, oil caps and trim rings are made from either German silver or nickel silver. There is no plating. I wish they made parts from this stuff today. It still looks and works great 90 years later. For me the jury is still out on the thumb break. I’m not sure I’m going to like it until I’ve used it a few times. I have another reel with a thumb break that hold against the spool instead of the line.
I have not yet gotten to your dealing with the leather pad, but a good way to kill the vinegar is to add baking soda to the water you soak it in. It will neutralize the acid (balance the PH).
You are absolutely correct. I have no idea what I’m doing when I start out and sometimes I figure it out by the time I get to the end. Other times I have to wait for my commentators to tell me what I’m doing wrong. Then sometimes, we never figure out what’s right and what’s wrong. We are on a journey of discovery. I’m always open to suggestions or input to get us on the right path. Thanks for keeping me humble.
Great instructions outstanding!!!! Thanks so much.did not notice the mistake good job. I know you're Dad would be proud.

Thanks for the input.
Neatsfoot oil is good for soaking and softening leather in
OOPS!😃Good job fixing up that reel. I want to see you fish it.
By the way, do you know what is that leather thing is called?
I’ve heard it called a thumb brake and a thumb drag. I look forward to fishing it.
However, it won't fix cracked leather
You have no idea what your doing !!!!!!!
