Yes, that event did happen during those time. And the story in both 300 movies did not tell the real story of what happened. It was very dramatized to make it fit more to Hollywood. Every Iranian around the world is pissed because of this, but since then many other TV shows and documentaries has come up and told the real story. However not as many people has seen those.

Iranian people are nice, great, hospitable and they love Westerners, specifically USA and Europian's. I know this very well. I spent 7 years in Iran, during my studies I spent wonderful time. I have such a nice memoirs.

Hello !!! The two of you made me laugh quite a bit !! I lived in Shiraz for 4 years, and watching this made me feel sad for how fast my time there went. I am an American Muslim woman, and when Iranians first hear I'm from American....they do anything to speak and be kind to you. I loved seeing the parks again !! In Iran they keep a very clean park, and at night they come alive !! They are safe as well !! At any time of night into early morning you have no fear to be out. Thank you for this video !! Made my night !!!

Funny thing is that movie insulted ancient Greece more than anything. Greeks would have never hurt any messenger, that was the law and the culture of that time among countries to let the communication exist.

@?,?, I guess you're reading it wrong. My text only can mean if my assumption about you being iranian is correct and even if it's not correct then your comment says more about you. Good and bad people live everywhere, situation in Iran is messed up, daily news includes murders and stupid laws being forced, I expect as much as I should, I don't aim the stars with a crossbow. I have seen many Iranians doing great things but unfortunately what you say is true as well, and that comes with the wrong laws and forced culture in Iran. If you like I can explain and give you examples but that would be a very long and upsetting explanation, and trust me you would be upset about injustice in Iran. The flaws you talk about trust me I know them all, I have been hurt by them, doesn't mean I would brush all of my people with one colour and insult them. Sadly wrong behavior stands out easily, getting a bad reputation is much easier than getting a good one, and God knows people who cheat and misbehave move abroad or do some weird things while traveling and ruin everything for those who don't do anything.

I agree with Fredric on squatty potty being more hygenec than sitting toilets, besides washing with high pressure water is cleaner than wiping LOL, last but not least, squatting is a good exercise done on daily basis and scientifically proven to a better position to do job 2.

I first thought you were mad wanting to drive a van to Iran. Now I think you would be mad not to have done it having seen just how amazing it is, and the best thing? It just keeps getting better!
I suggest you to enter Iran by your car from Turkey or northern borders of Iran , If you come to Iran from Europe then Turkey or Armenia is the best way , if you come to Iran from Russia then Azerbaijan is the only road way , if you come from Eastern or central Asia then Turkmenistan is the best way , Afghanistan and Pakistan is also our land neighbor but they may have not enough security in some places and you should pass them usually by police escort .

I am Iranian and I live in Shiraz. I am so glad you came to our city
First of all, thank you for showing Iran in such a positive way, I’m sure all Iranians really appreciate it, especially with the recent situation and view that the whole world has on our country. But I just want to point out one little thing, that Frederic said in the beginning: Iranians used to eat on the floor on a blanket, yes and there are some very traditional families that still do this today, but the majority of Iranians do not eat on the floor when they eat at home. Just wanted to claifiy this, since all my family members and all Iranians that I know eat on the table, just like Europeans. :) Much love and respect from Germany.

The famous "cépage chiraz" comes from this city. "Hafez" the most famous Persian poet had a lot to say about the Shiraz Wine in 13th century. Merchants took it to Italy, Europe, Australia and all over the world. Locals always brew but it's illigal. They do it in the basements LOL. I think you know now where the good wine comes from! :D have fun and try the famous "haft khan" restaurant. And try Persian cuisine while you are in Shiraz.
