    Great to see you back AceMonkey. I agree with your points despite my want for a new direct and Zelda news. The games and updates will come when they come and we will be there waiting for them.

    I believe that BOTW Sequel is truly in trouble and Nintendo desperately needed extra hands to help it get across the finish line. By fast tracking the XC3 release by a few months, Nintendo can pull staff from Monilith Soft to fix up BOTW Sequel. Monolith Soft had a big impact on BOTW. They were necessary to design the open world, the UI and menus for BOTW. Nintendo has stated BOTW Sequel was heavily impacted by the pandemic and I don’t doubt they may have lost up to a year of dev time. Even when using the same overworld, the sky realm and its new leaked mechanics would require a massive rework of BOTW’s physics engine or a complete overhaul.
    Splatoon 3 is the big game this winter. Next year will be BOTW Sequel year If it is ready. Possibly Metroid prime 4 too.

    • @AceMonkey
      @AceMonkey  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't know if I would say that the BotW sequel is in trouble, but I would go as far to say that the pandemic halted the development process. Monilith Soft did help out a lot on BotW, who knows maybe (cause of the pandemic as well) they were also unexpectedly caught up developing Xenoblade 3 and werent able to assist the Zelda team with what was needed. The delay could be because of this. It looks like they are doing a lot more than just reusing the same map, so i trust the process that they are taking with the game. Sometimes its not fun playing the waiting game, but im sure they are gonna bring out a great game.
      This year they had a tremendous start with games like Kirby and Legends Arceus, and i'm sure they are gonna finish strong with Splatoon and well Pokemon as well.
      But I agree, next year will probably be the year of Zelda and Metriod!

    I’m SO glad that you brought up that the teen and young adult crowd, while very vocal, are absolutely DWARFED by the children who love whatever Nintendo does and gets those products from their parents. I feel like a lot of people forget that.

    • @pantslesswrock
      @pantslesswrock 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      To say nothing of all the actual adults who grew up with Nintendo (we're all oooolllld now), but just don't have the time for much more than one or maybe two solid releases a year.
      There is a period of your life (teen/ya) where your identity will be extremely important to you, because you are finally enjoying increasing autonomy over your place in the world. Eventually though, your sense of self will solidify, and you will gain an inherit confidence in your identity. At that point, many are just happy to like what they like and not get caught up in the horse race aspect of it all. So, as long as Nintendo continues to play the hits with regularity and just enough variation, they will continue to enjoy broad support.
      I mean they single-handedly saved the entire medium of gaming (an exaggeration, but not by much) and etched themselves as The Provider of the medium to an entire generation - in capitalism, one can easily leverage that kind of deep audience relationship into recurring revenue cycles. Some periods may have larger harvests than others, but as long as they reliably produce their core crops, they can perpetually keep the farm in business. People will always want apples and oranges and grapes, even if they sometimes go wild for cantaloupe or acai berries or something else Nintendo Farms isn't great at making why is this the metaphor now

    • @AceMonkey
      @AceMonkey  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There will either be a Splatoon direct or a segment on it during a Nintendo direct. I feel a Mario Kart DLC announcement is gonna surprise us one of these days, I’m just waiting for it to happen.

  • @windego999
    @windego999 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm wondering if we'll get anything during September. They generally do Feb/June/Sep directs with some other smaller directs sprinkled here and there. But we already more or less know what's coming the next few months and unless they're planning to do a whole direct on a specific game entirely, what else can they do beyond I guess saying "Here's what's coming next year!"?

  • @cuteacakes1989
    @cuteacakes1989 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I'm not really sure how much I agree with this take but i can see where you're coming from. While I think Nintendo doesn't owe us news or anything when it comes to games I think considering people pay for this stuff in advance I feel its a bit off to say something's coming and then not informing the consumer about when it coming or how much is coming. I didn't get any of the games you mentioned but idk I think I'd feel a bit annoyed. Great video tho.

    • @AceMonkey
      @AceMonkey  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m sure there are people that sometimes buy games with the hope of DLC making it better. I just feel that’s a recipe for disappointment. If you aren’t fully content with the game, I’d just wait to see what the DLC holds.
      Again that’s just my take on this whole Nintendo situation. Who says that I’m right lol

    Ace, I never really got bent out of shape about these delays or no news. I'm a responsible person. After I pay my bills, feed myself and set aside money for retirement, I only have a certain amount of money to spend on games. So when there's delays that's when I have the opportunity to get other games I probably wouldn't have "had the money" for.
    See ya Ace.

    I was gutted along with so many other people , that the sequel to botw would be delayed. But you know I got over that and I'm just playing other game's I have plus buying a few other games to keep the wait at bay . I believe they are doing their best to complete the game but you can't rush a thing of beauty , so I'm more than happy to wait and if we get any news that'll be great , but I'm not as mad at Nintendo as I was ... It is what it is... Good luck for 3k ace , I'm sure you'll get there before you know it 🤞.

      @@AceMonkey At least we still got Mario + rabbit sparkles of Hope and other major games. But the one thing I find ungrateful is some people attacking other people for liking strikers battle league and using the death of Iwata as a weapon against these actions in a disgusting and disturbing way that disturbed a bunch of innocent people online. Also pretending everything was beautiful and pretty when him and Reggie were still around. The other truth is Doug Bowser and Shuntaro Furukawa Never made the decision to make paid online games, it was planned long before they even became presidents. The other issue is those Nintendo fans can't even think accurately or think clearly.

      @@M64bros definitely agree with both of these takes! I do wish they did more with Mario Strikers, but I can’t lie that I’m having so much fun with the game.
      I’m pretty sure the negativity that people have been screaming about the game have discouraged people that genuinely want to try it out and that to me really irks me.
      Also if I ever seriously call Nintendo executives out for whatever reason, call me out lol there is so many executive decisions that go on behind close doors and years in advance we as simple consumers wouldn’t even know who made them let alone the reason for them.
      Like i said towards the end of the video, if we don’t enjoy the games Nintendo is putting out then just don’t buy them. Our wallets speak louder than our Twitter posts.

    What do you mean what's going on? They are slowly leaving the game space for the movie space. Nintendo is known for taking on and moving on from endeavors. Lest we forget, the were a card company, a company that made those handy reach claw things, a taxi service, a burlesque house, just to name a few. It was only a matter of time before they decided to move on from the gaming space, that graphically they cannot keep up with, and Hardware they cannot match.

    I like how a global pandemic hit and continues to hit and Nintendo puts up a "THERE IS A PANDEMIC GOING ON ANY AND ALL OF THESE DATES COULD BE SUBJECT TO CHANGE" slide in front of every Direct, and yet we still have an entire consumer base pretending it's 2018.

    • @AceMonkey
      @AceMonkey  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You know sometimes I forget about that notice Nintendo puts out before every announcement and its soooo true! Even though the global pandemic seems to have come under control. Its effects are still being drastically felt, and not just in the gaming industry. There is a lack of houses and vehicles in there respective market, and PC parts are barely becoming somewhat available. You are right we gotta think that these are definitely different times!

      @@AceMonkey Thank you! Control is good - but it's not the same as over. And besides all the physical constraints, there is just the mental strain of living through such an event, upon any aspect of life, but especially upon creative work that is physically exhausting. We think about exhausting work being stuff where you move a lot and lift heavy things, but staying alert and focused in the same spot for 10+ hours at a time also takes a heavy toll on the human body. Making a video game is very hard work!
