Apologies to those that have heard this story before but it seems to be relevant as I felt it necessary to mention it a couple times on youtube the last couple weeks. I couldn't agree more with the info in this video. Recently I offered my Rolex 116660 JC D-Blue w/B&P fully stickers and never sized to a couple BIG secondary market dealers here in the US and I asked 20% less than a moderate listed price on line for a similar watch in the same condition and their offers weren't even close. The funny thing is that one of the dealers was selling the same watch "used" that was polished for top dollar and tried to low ball me on my watch. I get it, they need to make money and often extra room in the event that they want to wholesale the piece and get out with a small profit but dealers are looking to steal watches these days.
It's a little weird that they would offer less if you are offering it for 20% cheaper than the cheapest one online. On a watch like this, it should be achievable.

Thanks David for covering this subject. I’ve bought 3 watches through Chrono 24. First looked at the certain model I’m interested then do a global price comparison then narrow down to US market where I live.

Collecting watches shows you the market value of your watch check sold prices on there vs CH24 asking prices to get an idea of the spread.
I did buy a cartier calibre diver on crono 24, and the best prices are from Japan for the model I wanted. The only thing I was shocked about was the import taxes were very high, I new there was import taxes! But it was very hi. It did come as described and in mint condition/ box and papers. I will say over all the price was still good. Great video again David I wish I new more. But now I do. Thank you. Dubai Dick 👍

On Chrono I’ve found a lot of the Rolex watches Box and Papers descriptions to be very vague. So make sure you see a photo containing both the hang tags as well as the warranty card. Count the number of links. For the oyster bracelet there should be 12 links and 22 on the jubilee. Above all, always go and see the watch in person and take your time checking its condition. Personally I’d never buy a watch unseen.

I think most dealers rarely accept just 20% margin, on Rolex maybe yes but not on most other brands.

Fair question, I've done one video with him and that was before he was dealing in watches. Regardless, I wouldn't say do business or don't do business with anyone. I give my opinion in general and it's up to the individuals how they take my information and apply it to their watch buying and selling experience.
Trouble is on chrono David, you say trust the seller/dealer. Chrono never mentions who the trader is? All it says is "professional dealer" but that could be anyone. How can you trust that
You can scroll down on the listing as I showed on the video and see who the seller is 👍
When it says professional dealer - press on professional dealer and it takes you to the company name. Google that company and find their website. Most times you will find the same watch cheaper direct on their website than via chrono 24.
I never understood why people would just sell for 60-70% of the price to grey market dealers instead of selling on C24, how hard can it be? Answer not hard at all, I have sold several over the years.
I tell you how to find it, mate: wait another year or two.
I wish I liked rolex, too many d-bags and status hungry weirdos associated with it to even consider it anymore, I always thought I’d buy a date just on my 40th but now it just feels childish and vain. Too much flash not enough substance
