We use to go on a lot of picnics when my husband was living. I would fry up some chicken, make somesides pack it up and away we would go , lord I really miss those days.

I remember making egg salad for my grandson when he spent his kindergarten year with me in Washington, D.C. He never had it before, and his comment after the first bite was: "Does my mom know how to make this?" LOL! We set up my little video camera and he did a cooking video on making egg salad to send to his mom!

You are absolutely correct!!! I’ve made these sandwiches for different occasions and people have asked what is in it, it’s so good and they can’t believe it is so simple! I love a simple egg salad. This looks great! I did come up with a game changer: I mix the mustard and seasonings into the mayo along with a tbsp of grated (not chopped) sweet Vidalia onion. I stir it up, then add it to the eggs.

Hi Rhonda. I live in the Augusta area and love the Master’s Tournament, too. I have the original recipe for Master’s Egg Salad and would love to share it with you. Back in 2007, my son was in high school and worked for the Augusta National during Master’s Week. He was part of the team that made the Egg Salad for the tournament. A wonderful lady named Rose Butler was the director of Food Service and Culinary Arts at North Augusta High School at the time and her students, along with a handful of other students, did nothing but make the Egg Salad in the food service department at the school. At the end of the day, the egg salad was loaded into a refridgerator truck and taken to Augusta Christian School and a team would work all night making the sandwiches to be delivered by 5 am the next morning. The pimento cheese was made at another school and assembled elsewhere. At the end of the week, my son was sick of egg salad but had $200 in his pocket for his hard work. He promptly purchased an expensive skateboard. Lol. Mrs. Butler broke down the recipe to be made with a dozen eggs but you can cut the recipe in half to have smaller portions. 1/2 cup Mayonnaise (Dukes preferred here in the south) 1 teaspoon dried dill 2 tablespoons dijion mustard 1/2 teaspoon black pepper 2 teaspoons Kosher salt 1 1/2 tablespoons lemon juice 1 dozen hard boiled eggs, chopped Combine everything in a bowl except the eggs. Mix well. Add the chopped eggs Simple as that! We eat it a lot and I’m asked for the recipe every time I make it for potluck or family get togethers. I agree with you that Master’s Egg Salad is the best.

Love egg salad this way - simple and none of that crunchy or sour mess added to it. One way I make it different is that I pop out the yolks then gently mash’em up. I add Dukes and a little mustard and salt and pepper and whisk until fluffy. Then I chop up the whites and fold them in. I like to toast regular sandwich bread or rye bread and butter up the toast good then add the egg salad. Perfect sandwich!

I’ve never mixed the yolks alone then fold in the whites I’ll have to try that, now I do mix the yolks for deviled eggs that way and I always add a touch of butter when they are warm, it makes them so silky, great texture. I have had the egg salad sandwich at the Masters and I agree they are sooooooo good! I am retired from the military and was stationed in Beaufort, SC. In 1997 I won a raffle on base and it was for tickets to the Masters, practice and all four days! That was when Tiger won his first green jacket. I wasn't much of a golf fan but everyone told me what an experience it was so I went and they were right.
That’s exactly how it was for me, I’m not into golf, but my hubby has always loved the game and played since he was a little fella, I on the other hand, just went with him to cruise around on a golf cart on a nice day. I just got my 1st peek into your kitchen Rhonda, and I felt like old home week. I enjoy ya'll so much. Hope Russell is feeling lot's better. I've had more than my share of back issues. Rest is the golden ticket. Don't try too get back in the saddle before your back is ready. I've never been to Masters but Rhonda, you mastered my Mama's recipe exactly. If Russell really isn't in favor of mayo I've gotten the hankering for a egg salad sandwich boiling them egs and even got them peeled only to find i was plum out of mayo. In a pinch a combo of sour cream and / or yogurt mixed with a little fresh whipping cream to get that spreadable moisture without spreading the bread too. That will do the job. I'll be a regular subscriber a watching from now on. Blessing to you both.

@@RhondascountrykitchenI love my egg cooker! When I hard boiled eggs sometimes they were so hard to peel. Half of the egg white would come off with the eggshell. I never have that problem with eggs that I’ve cooked in my egg cooker. I hope Russ feels better!!!

Very similar to the recipe I ate & learned from my mom. She never used onion powder. She would finely mince a couple green onions & blend them in. She made enough to feed 5-6 of us depending on who all showed up for lunch. An egg salad sandwich was usually served a bowl of Campbell's Soup. It doesn't get much better than that....

I was the youngest of 7 with my oldest brother being 19 years older than me. I'm 66 & I still prepare many of the meals I watched her make in my younger days. I make my egg salad very simple also. I use eggs, Best Foods Mayonnaise (Hellman’s in the East), a very small amount of regular yellow mustard, salt, and pepper. I place my eggs in the food processor because I don’t like any chunks. The sandwiches are so tasty, smooth, and creamy!😊

I had a chef show me a very easy way. Bring water to boil. Put the eggs in wait seven minutes if there’s more than three or four wait eight pull them out. Dump out the water , pour in cold water , wait a minute ,peel them -works perfectly.

Place your eggs in cold water, set on stove. Turn to high. Set timer 20 mins. Perfect every time. Been doing it for years. Learned in a restaurant kitchen

You know how Japan has vending machines for everything and a 7-11 on every corner? They always have egg salad sandwiches in both places and the yolks of the eggs are so yellow, the bread is always so fresh and the sandwiches are so always so freaking good.
I’ll bet they are made with fresh farm eggs, my son has chicken and those eggs are the best, and omg they make such a difference in cakes, especially pound cakes, they are rich and so yellow! I’ve never been to Japan but I hear they have the best food, it’s on my bucket list 🥰❤️
@@Rhondascountrykitchen yeah my parents used to have chickens and their eggs had a rich vibrant yolk. I’ve noticed in TH-cam videos that people in the UK have eggs like just from the grocery store. They also don’t have to refrigerate their eggs because the chickens are vaccinated to prevent salmonella and there’s washing like here in the US that removes the cuticle. I have a hard time eating in Japan and end up eating a lot of chicken and pork. Unfortunately I hate all fish. I’ve tried several times to like through my life. Especially since I know your taste buds change as age. There are a lot foods I like now that I used to hate. I just haven’t been able to get into fish though except for a tuna salad sandwich but it has to be made the way my mom taught me to make it.

Their secret is a special mayo. Very Japanese kind. And their bread is different too. It has rice flour or something in it. I'm learning about Japan lately 😅
I started mixing all the ingredients into just the yolks, and whisking it up, then add the whites of the egg, it gives it a much more creamy consistency, Try it !!

It’s been a while, but I finally made it. Lol definitely came out really really good. The keep it simple stupid method really works lol the only difference was I did add a small touch of celery seed anyhow thank you so very much. I eat low carb, so I have mine on lettuce leaves, or I mix in chopped lettuce if I want crunch. Otherwise I just mix and eat. Gotta add onion powder, and my son likes paprika in his. So tasty! I like the idea of using the egg slicer, I don't have the hand strength to chop them with a fork so I have hubby do it for me.

The little chopper makes it so easy, I like a cheese grater too it makes it shred nicely! Yay to the low carb, I was on keto and egg salad was a go to for me, I ate it on lettuce and when I was craving crunch I’d dip celery sticks. I’ve always loved eggs so it’s a win for me. My mother didn't like eggs, so she never made them. I was a teen before I had one. I liked all manner of egg sandwiches, so i ordered one out. I like other sandwiches more, so I have never made one and I have decided that it is time that I learned.

I love a simple egg salad. This looks great! I did come up with a game changer: I mix the mustard and seasonings into the mayo along with a tbsp of grated (not chopped) sweet Vidalia onion. I stir it up, then add it to the eggs.

This is one of my favorite sandwiches. I love egg salad, tuna salad, chicken salad and pimento cheese. My son and I love to go to a deli and pig out on a good sandwich and chips with a dill pickle wedge, yummy! Russ I hope the surgery helps your back. 🙏🏻

Hi Rhonda. I live in the Augusta area and love the Master’s Tournament, too. I have the original recipe for Master’s Egg Salad and would love to share it with you. Back in 2007, my son was in high school and worked for the Augusta National during Master’s Week. He was part of the team that made the Egg Salad for the tournament. A wonderful lady named Rose Butler was the director of Food Service and Culinary Arts at North Augusta High School at the time and her students, along with a handful of other students, did nothing but make the Egg Salad in the food service department at the school. At the end of the day, the egg salad was loaded into a refridgerator truck and taken to Augusta Christian School and a team would work all night making the sandwiches to be delivered by 5 am the next morning. The pimento cheese was made at another school and assembled elsewhere. At the end of the week, my son was sick of egg salad but had $200 in his pocket for his hard work. He promptly purchased an expensive skateboard. Lol. Mrs. Butler broke down the recipe to be made with a dozen eggs but you can cut the recipe in half to have smaller portions.
1/2 cup Mayonnaise (Dukes preferred here in the south)
1 teaspoon dried dill
2 tablespoons dijion mustard
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
2 teaspoons Kosher salt
1 1/2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 dozen hard boiled eggs, chopped
Combine everything in a bowl except the eggs. Mix well. Add the chopped eggs
Simple as that! We eat it a lot and I’m asked for the recipe every time I make it for potluck or family get togethers. I agree with you that Master’s Egg Salad is the best.

Love egg salad this way - simple and none of that crunchy or sour mess added to it.
One way I make it different is that I pop out the yolks then gently mash’em up. I add Dukes and a little mustard and salt and pepper and whisk until fluffy.
Then I chop up the whites and fold them in.
I like to toast regular sandwich bread or rye bread and butter up the toast good then add the egg salad.
Perfect sandwich!

I have had the egg salad sandwich at the Masters and I agree they are sooooooo good! I am retired from the military and was stationed in Beaufort, SC. In 1997 I won a raffle on base and it was for tickets to the Masters, practice and all four days! That was when Tiger won his first green jacket. I wasn't much of a golf fan but everyone told me what an experience it was so I went and they were right.
That’s exactly how it was for me, I’m not into golf, but my hubby has always loved the game and played since he was a little fella, I on the other hand, just went with him to cruise around on a golf cart on a nice day. I've never been to Masters but Rhonda, you mastered my Mama's recipe exactly. If Russell really isn't in favor of mayo I've gotten the hankering for a egg salad sandwich boiling them egs and even got them peeled only to find i was plum out of mayo. In a pinch a combo of sour cream and / or yogurt mixed with a little fresh whipping cream to get that spreadable moisture without spreading the bread too. That will do the job.

I have made it this way for 50 years. Just mayo s&p occasionally onion. My grandkids like it cause its simple.

@@RhondascountrykitchenI love my egg cooker! When I hard boiled eggs sometimes they were so hard to peel. Half of the egg white would come off with the eggshell. I never have that problem with eggs that I’ve cooked in my egg cooker. I hope Russ feels better!!!

This is pretty much how I like mine, just simple 😋 You can change it up by which bread you choose, adding lettuce and/or tomato, but simple just the egg salad on a nice fresh white bread is always a winner😊

I enjoy it all kind of ways, but I really like this simple recipe. I used to dress it up with different ingredients until I went to the Masters and it was simple and delicious. Very similar to the recipe I ate & learned from my mom. She never used onion powder. She would finely mince a couple green onions & blend them in. She made enough to feed 5-6 of us depending on who all showed up for lunch. An egg salad sandwich was usually served a bowl of Campbell's Soup. It doesn't get much better than that....

I make my egg salad very simple also. I use eggs, Best Foods Mayonnaise (Hellman’s in the East), a very small amount of regular yellow mustard, salt, and pepper. I place my eggs in the food processor because I don’t like any chunks. The sandwiches are so tasty, smooth, and creamy!😊

I had a chef show me a very easy way. Bring water to boil. Put the eggs in wait seven minutes if there’s more than three or four wait eight pull them out. Dump out the water , pour in cold water , wait a minute ,peel them -works perfectly.

onion powder is the secret ingredient in lots of good recipes. I like it when I'm boiling potatoes for mashed potatoes.

You know how Japan has vending machines for everything and a 7-11 on every corner? They always have egg salad sandwiches in both places and the yolks of the eggs are so yellow, the bread is always so fresh and the sandwiches are so always so freaking good.
I’ll bet they are made with fresh farm eggs, my son has chicken and those eggs are the best, and omg they make such a difference in cakes, especially pound cakes, they are rich and so yellow! I’ve never been to Japan but I hear they have the best food, it’s on my bucket list 🥰❤️
@@Rhondascountrykitchen yeah my parents used to have chickens and their eggs had a rich vibrant yolk. I’ve noticed in TH-cam videos that people in the UK have eggs like just from the grocery store. They also don’t have to refrigerate their eggs because the chickens are vaccinated to prevent salmonella and there’s washing like here in the US that removes the cuticle. I have a hard time eating in Japan and end up eating a lot of chicken and pork. Unfortunately I hate all fish. I’ve tried several times to like through my life. Especially since I know your taste buds change as age. There are a lot foods I like now that I used to hate. I just haven’t been able to get into fish though except for a tuna salad sandwich but it has to be made the way my mom taught me to make it.

I eat low carb, so I have mine on lettuce leaves, or I mix in chopped lettuce if I want crunch. Otherwise I just mix and eat. Gotta add onion powder, and my son likes paprika in his. So tasty! I like the idea of using the egg slicer, I don't have the hand strength to chop them with a fork so I have hubby do it for me.
