Now this was a kick ass video dude. I be wanting to do videos like this but because I see this all the time, its hard for me to go through the testing steps you was doing. I find myself going straight to the problem and by doing that it destroys the suspense. Lol. (But thats great for the viewers). Thats why I have mad respect for independent techs that work on multiple brands. Im more impressed with that scan tool and those options that I was seeing. Very similar to dealer stuff
Just had this same issue on our 2018. Had to swap a coil and spark plugs in an AutoZone parking lot an hour from home. I’ve watched enough of your videos to understand what to do. Thanks.
Had the same issue on 2017 dodge durango. It had a P0302 code. It was misfiring at idle. Found this video and replaced this part and it fixed the issue. Thank you!
You showed it I watched your video over and you did show us that Variable Valve Lift solenoid that apparently was the problem and you fixed it. I’ll have to try it on mine I’ll keep y’all posted. Thank you so much my friend. God Bless you.
This video was a lifesaver. How often do you come across somebody diagnosing an identical vehicle with identical symptoms? 10 minutes at the parts counter and 10 minutes under the hood and my car is fixed. Thank you so much for sharing.
Incredible job. Your diagnostic thoroughness & knowledge is really impressive! I have exact same issue with our Durango. Changed out all the plugs, coil packs & gaskets. Shake came back. Going to try this fix as we got a code on this as well!
Good morning and thank you for this step by step tutorial I purchased the two days ago and the code came on the seller not responding to my text. So far I change the spark plugs and coils and the code is still on. Watch your video I have a bright idea that Variable valve lift solenoid is my issue thank you
Going to look into this. I have a 2016 3.6 Durango. Cylinder 5 misfire only but comes and goes. CEL only comes on when under hard acceleration and around 80mph but goes away. I swapped the coil, plug and injector and nothing. Hoping this works, thanks for the video👍🏼
Bro you have battery tools, why would you swap #2 & #4 spark plugs & coils, if the misfire moves to #3, you wont know if its the plug or coil, and you will need to move coils with #4 & #6, just split up the spark plugs separate from the matching original set on the first go please. When the problem stayed with #2 you then second guessed yourself if you actually moved the coil, we need to mark the coils please at least with chalk that can be wiped away. Your injector current and voltage waveforms are good for certain tests but they do not show the spray pattern of the fuel, they do not show dripping fuel when closed. you need to perform a leak down test against fuel pressure. Does your scanner not offer VVT degrees of movement PID, then compare MAF, MAP with and without a misfire for a significant difference, I did not notice you looking at these PIDs prior to pulling the VVT Solenoid? If you want to learn more about the 3.6L PENTASTAR, check out the proper videos over at Alex, The Car Doctor, his AKA is Doctor Pentastar, thank you for the video mate, cheers.
Cool.... but the thing is, there was no mechanical noise or low oil pressure, so I overlook the cam and rocker. When I pull a valve cover on one in the future, I'll inspect the VVL housing. I never thought they could crack!
@@partsshooterwith the roller rockers they start out early as a ticker. But it’s ignored then it finally goes away as the roller bearings fall out it basically is riding over cam without bearing and still give the valve a little lift for awhile. Then it finally wears down to point of misfire. All this with no mechanical noise. Crazy I know
What was the problem of the misfire?? Was it the rocker arm??? I have a 2020 Dodge Durango GT with code P0301 misfire in cylinder #1 changed all coils and plugs I still have same code after clearing code but it comes back after putting a load on motor auto /start/ stop light comes on then the check engine light . I cut the engine off and all lights go off and runs normal after restarting. Please help….,

Hi, did you ever fix your problem?
Great video! Thanks man. I was stumped and was able to fix it in 20 minutes.
So it’s was the Variable valve lift solenoid????
I changed the front 2 and I am still getting a P105D code. Is there 2 rear ones that need to be changed. If so where are they located.
Where is cylinder 5 located?
I have a 2015 dodge durango same issue but I don't see that solenoid in that spot...I thought the engines are the same 3.6

Great job 👊🏻
Done these usually bad valve or crack in head 🙁 but it could be bad roller rocker worn down cam

@@partsshooterstill watching for what is causing it . Never seen a ecu or TIPM cause misfire on just one cylinder 🤔
