It sucks that Dime is gone but don't take Phil for granted. He is a metal legend and warrior. This guy put his body and soul through hell and back to serve us pure metal!! He is still a very important figure in metal. Metal is not around in a commercial sense but when it does come back it's gonna be sweet.

So much energy in one man, I was sincerely blown away by his stage presence. It was so powerful the way he feeds off the crowd's energy and vice versa.

Did these guys sound constipated or what? 'Ooga-choka!'

His point was that it doesn't matter what decade we're in because commercialized pop music has always been there from the beginning. But then again, not everyone is as open-minded as others. So saying things like "todays music sucks! 70s music was better!" is perfectly acceptable for those types of people.

It sucks they could not get it together. They were a really important metal band---they would have been one of the "Big Four," had they pulled their heads out of their asses. There would have been no need for a Damageplan, and Dime would still be setting the standard for metal guitarists the world over. RIP dude.

+Remmy 315 Split hairs with whatever terminology suits your argument, what the fuck ever. It was called the Big 4 not the Big Thrash 4. You make it sound as if Pantera would have been like a disco group on that bill. When in fact, Pantera had toured, and shared bills, hundreds of times with each of the Big 4 bands. "Mouth for War," sounds a whole lot closer to thrash metal than say," The Unforgiven." I'm a huge Metallica fan, and you ain't getting me to bite, that they have put out anything close to resembling thrash metal since, "And Justice for All." That's almost 30 years, by my count. The Big 4, was a representation of the form of the heavy metal community, that Pantera was a part of, not an exact definition given by the non-existent Websters dictionary of heavy metal genre monikers.

Phil saw Motorhead in '83 or '84. He was in the midst of the metal/hardcore crossover. It's the reason why his bands are so diverse (Pantera, Down, Superjoint Ritual, Illegals, Necrophagia).

I saw Agnostic Front at the Harbor Theater in Detroit with At War and Sacrifice, and a buncha other bands, Motor City Metalfest 1988 trippin acid. Agnostic was crazy and took the cake.

Also Dimebag knew thrash before Anselmo joined Pantera. He was a Metallica fan from day one. You can hear the thrash influence in Pantera as far back as 1984...

I met Dimebag Daryl at a Las Vegas Oz Fest, long ago. He was so laid back, friendly, gave my friend and I Heineken and we sat on a pallet by the busses and chatted. I didn't even know who he was at the time. I thought he was just another guy at the show. I was shocked when I heard of his murder.

I haven't heard anyone talk about , VITUS , SLAYER, and sabbath, saying basically what a big deal they are to him. I couldn't agree more, but in the world and time that I am in now absolutely no one around here has even heard of vitus for example. Was exactly what I see it as. Rob Halford epic. Gg allin agnostic is obscure , and these bands are not just what u say u like cos it's cool or whatever. ..to me these songs are the most gratifying and pleasure in my head.

My point being that _ I was just dumbfounded to hear, that I am not crazy, ..Most people watch the voice on TV , that's the really putrid feeling in my book. Man I gotta stop methadone, is it as bad as they.say? Is it really possible to ..to be clean and feel somewhat okay, after u have been so depend ant, on it in past?

Methadone isnt a good way to give up the gear and feel OK in life. Shell out for a few weeks on an island in Thailand, search for 'DARA'. CBT, culture, healthy living, sounds out there but worked for me dude.
