Saw this yesterday and wondered why I never catch any killer deals like this - then TODAY! - on my local Facebook marketplace, a guy had a 1991 Yamaha 650 Maxim that hadn't been out of the garage since '94 and has 11,500 on the odometer. I contacted him and offered to trade him a $500 garden tiller for it str8 across if he had a clear title - and he said OK! It's dusty, but NO pitting. No scratches, No nothing! Even has a faring with a stereo and a high-back seat my wife will enjoy! Carbs need gone through, obviously and a full service on the engine - just like you've done/are doing. Looks like I found my bike!

You'll have to go through the carbs . These carbs were and still are vary sensitive to plugin up internally .
Sitting fore 30 years even if drained the carbs should be checked thoroughly.
I'd check the starter motor brushes after the stress they were just put to, maybe clean up the commutator of all the pits.
Do everything the 10,000 miles maintenance , that will give you good solid and safer bike . These little KZ twins are a blast to ride. Their tough .

This deal and this bike asks for it to let it stock. Just polish it up, mount down that Gynecologist bar the luggage carrier.
It´s like a time machine really... love it! can´t wait for more

You are so knowledgeable about these old bikes. I grew up riding them, couple of pointers which you really don't need but just can't help myself. First when you check spark plugs have a plug you know works that way you can check the coil at the same time, also install a over head can for gas, after all the care you take to prevent any additional damage do not run the gas out of the old gas tank.

I guess at the very least get the carbs off, clean them, sync them and check the valves and make sure they are adjusted. And then give the bike a good polish and cleaning and that should be that. Flip it and make some bank or ride it around and enjoy.... Great find good work!!!!

I would polish every inch of that bike. I had a 2009 Kawasaki Vulcan Classic for about 2 years. What a ride it was. Would love to have this bike! P.S. I live about 2 hours from Mustie1. My dad bought a Toyota Corolla when we moved to Arizona in 1969. The day we arrived and drove. Downtown to the hotel where we had re servasions it was 113 degrees. So as soon as he had secured a job he bought a car with AC. It came with w tool bag that was in the trunk along with the spare. I still have the pair of pliers from that set, and I think I also have the cresent wrench. The screwdriver had a plastic handle and it bit the dust long ago. Kind of newt to see what Japanese manufacturers will do for their customers!

So stoked to see you do this one. I'm just barely finishing up my 1978 Kz750B build here like next week. And yeah they made the twin model (KZ750B) 1976-79 and it's a biiiitch to find parts for. Not a lot of aftermarket supply. But man they're great bikes.
