    Question Keenan. What iron shaft do you think you would fit those two TP's you mentioned in?

  • @nicholas389
    @nicholas389 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    One thing i just discovered, i used regular shafts & i swing 90 or below & have a fast tempo.
    The regular shafts caused a large dispersion around the greens & a stiff shaft shrunk that dispersion by half.
    Literally just by switching to stiff shafts. The fitters automatically gave me regular shafts thinking i am standard & the numbers may have been borderline.
    Now i can see uts my tempo & speed combined thag make regular shafts inconsistent for me & the stiff shaft much more consistent.
    Looking forward to taking this knowledge & stiff shafts out to the course hoping to have better accuracy & more shots on the green i stead of just right & left of the green constantly.
    Thanks true temper & Golf Sidekick.

    Went to fitter the other day. Swinging driver avg 112 mph. I couldn’t consistently hit with x stiff shaft. I have a faster tempo. I like stiff instead of x stiff. Maybe I’ll work into x stiff but for now stiff is good for me. But I’ll have to practice using the indoor tech to help better identify swing details to adjust for my club face and swing. Tendency to have them both closed. X stiif shaft I have a harder time feeling the swing through with them both squared.

    Can the swing speed and tempo differentiate between let's say short to mid to long irons.And if that is the case where a heavier stiffer shafts works well in short irons but doesn't in the mid to longer clubs should you then consider different weighted shafts in the mid irons in let's say x flex still in mid irons and then progress to a lighter stiff flex in the longer irons.
    This question comes because i have a swing speed with the 7 iron in the 93 to 90mph range and a driver swing speed in the 110 to 105mph range.And currently i am seeing the longer and mid irons not getting enough height or spin and 7,6,5 iron distance gaps to close to each other.
    When i reduce the weight and flex distance jumps up sometimes to much and ball flight stays low and spin slightly increases.
    Would like to get a idea of what i would be looking at.So on my next proper fitting i have a better idea what to look for.
    Thanks

    Just getting my older set of Mizuno blades reshafted from Dynamic Gold S300s to Dynamic Gold Tour Issue X100s. Based on my swing speed I should be playing an S flex shaft but tend to launch it high even with the stiffest S flex shafts on the market. So experimenting with X flex shafts I’ve noticed an improvement in accuracy and better launch conditions. Just happen to be one of the rare “exceptions” to the guidelines when getting fitted.

    Any thoughts on Mizuno's shaft optimizer device? I was fitted into 921 Hot Metal irons with Recoil A-flex graphite shafts with it. Was playing SIM Max in steel S-flex. Played a few rounds with them...not as whippy as I expected but much higher ball flight. The lighter weight helps me smooth out my tempo a bit and not try to "muscle" a shot. It'll be interesting to see how this plays out over the summer when the weather is warmer and the greens firmer. I'm 62 and play off 11 HC.

      Hi golfer206, hope you don’t mind the question? I am going for a fitting in early May and hope to go with a Mizuno set. New driver and irons at least. I will be using the Optimizer as well - is it everything it is cracked up to be? I have heard great things. I play off 11 also and currently use KBS tour steel shafts but due to some wrist and shoulder injuries over the years (tennis,rugby) I am tempted to try some lighter graphite shafts like you have. The better ball flight would also help me I think. Just wondering was it the optimizer that recommended the graphite or the fitter? And are you still enjoying the graphite? Thanks, peter

      @@peterkelly9655 Hi Pete, the comment I made was made over 2 months ago. I played over a dozen times with the A-flex shafted Hot Metal irons and noticed something was not working out on the course. I was having an issue with my short irons, 8 - PW where I was losing 5-10 yards due to their design (launched the ball too high and lack of feel on partial shots as they were too light). Our club had a Mizuno fitting day a week ago so I spent an hour with the rep (who happened to be the main Mizuno rep for our region) talking about my previous fitting and he agreed that the Optimizer was a good starting point but should have looked at other shaft options. My original fitting was indoors and this one was outdoors where I could see the true flight of the ball. Long story short, I'm getting the irons re-shafted with Recoil 95 graphite in R-flex soft-stepped 1". That extra weight felt better on 3/4 and punch shots and the 1" adjustment will give the irons just a little more launch but not as much as the other much-lighter shafts. Feel and performance is so individualized, I hope you have a fitter who will take the time to look at all options and has an outgoing personality that explains how and why certain shafts and weights perform the way they do. (I got a tutorial at looking and analyzing the charts of the bend profiles of different shafts.) Thanks for asking and best wishes on your fitting.

    Currently playing Project X 6.0 shafts in irons, should j be looking at a 6.0 shaft for my wood? Do the HZRDUS shafts generally play stiffer?

    • @TrueTemperGolf
      @TrueTemperGolf  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      We would suggest looking at 6.0 to start! Especially in the HZRDUS range as most HZRDUS shafts are stiffer profiles than most other graphite wood shafts. Project X iron shafts are a stiff profile though, so you might even think about 6.5 in the woods. No wrong answer between the two, just would come down to what you prefer!

If you're not looking to get professionally fitted, there's a lot of information online and charts of different shafts. If you're doing it on your own I would try to stay with one manufacturer as it will be easier to cross compare.

    When I won a new driver about 15 years ago, part of the prize was a complete driver fitting at the club maker's shop. I was fitted at the time using the Shaft Lab system that was sold by True Temper to custom golf shops. Does True Temper still make this Shaft Lab system? The system measured HOW a golfer LOADED the shaft, NOT how fast they swing. Worked very well. Just wondering if this system is still available.

    • @chadwhite7290
      @chadwhite7290 ปีที่แล้ว

      Because the lofts are manipulated guys today are saying they are hitting their 7 iron 200 yards so then I'll ask them what's going on I'll say what clubs and shafts you using? Come to find out he will tell me I'll look it up and I see why he's playing with some super game improvement clubs and the 7 iron is like a 28 degree loft. Same thing happened to me I hadn't played in years so I got some Callaway x24 hot irons they were just they very hot they aud a generic uniflex shaft that worked pretty good after using them a few years I felt like I needed to get better at shot shaping flight control and other aspects so i was having great luck with Callaway and my biggest issue with the x24 hot iron was the shafts were feeling weak. Well I was in luck they just came out with Callaway x hot pro they were supposed to be a more forgiving club that promotes distance, they also had another set called just the callaway Hot Pro they had stronger lofts to make you think your just hit your 7 iron 200 yard when in reality you just hit a club stamped as a 7 iron but it's really more equivalent to a 5 iron maybe even a 4.5. The hot pro model I ended up getting had projex x shafts they were 6.0 flex and they were flighted and they weighed 95 grams. I didn't care about all that stuff in my mind I just went from a set of Callaway x24 hot that in the beginning I really liked because they were had a dark charcoal finish to reduce glare which meant when ever I started hitting the ball consistently it would start to wear out that dark finish on the face of the club which is would build confidence. What is crazy though I did practice alot and I became a pretty good ball striker just about when I had the most confidence I had ever had with these clubs that's when I sold them. Someone got it in my head that I I was never going to improve if I kept using forgiving clubs. So after selling the x24 hot irons I bought some Callaway x forged with project x 6.0 flighted shafts. This was a very humbling experience. I was able to work the ball left to right better but that was it I ended up trading those clubs off for some Nike machspeed irons for son. Then I think it was the next spring I got the callaway pro irons and I was loving it for a while until I was playing with my old golf coach we were coming in at 186 to the very back tip of the green so I took out my 7 iron and hit it flush and I flew the green I was like wow so I asked the golf coach to tell me the distance again he had one of thise range fiders he said 188 so he said to me hit a 8 iron so I did and I crushed it with a higher than normal trajectory but it wasn't a flyer ot anything sþ next time I was playing out there and the corse was empty I hit a few balls I could hit my 5 iron 200 yards with a medium boring trajectory that had a flight like a riser and would stick when it landed same thing for the 6 iron and 7 iron I was shocked thatni was hitting my 7 iron 200 yards but basically I was holding the clubs to delft 8 iron just shy of 200 9 irons was about 187. I got rid of those clubs too they were great for hitting low riser type shots and using a 9 irons on a 175 yard par 3 up a hill to impress your buddies at Wednesday night men's league but really they make me get some bad habits. I now hit Mizuno mp57 they are the most forgiving irons I have ever used
