@@Chareidos I’ve been playing since the beginning of the end for the progression system and the Region 2 map, but ever since Evrima introduced the newer scent system i’ve had my difficulties in understanding it. And it mostly had to do with me trying to follow footprints, but then never seeing the follow up prints right after.
@@wietse9673 I remember those times... but I think the iterations within Legacy were rather easy in comparison to many of evrimas iterations, as far as i can remember. In Evrima it only highlights a few and it is not always easy seeing those through foliage. I failed with it too, but I rarely had the occasion to track down anybody to get gud at it, since I mostly ambush or had prey fighting back and in general have no struggle finding someone going in the open. :)
@Chareidos Legacy was indeed so very different, footprint scents we’re just giant piles of yellow smoke, and besides that the only other things you could smell we’re carcasses and bodies of water. And with evrima, as you pointed out another major difficulty is foliage blocking the visibility of footprint scents.
Your an angel for making this man, i now know exactly why i never understood scent. When i sniffed footprints, i never sniffed the recent/newer prints. I always thought sniffing once on the prints was enough, but you gotta reset the timer with every footprint you find to keep track.
a good strategy would have been to waste all the stamina and go in a straight line, to make sure that you go the max speed, then, if you're lucky, you'd have made enough distance to safelog
Not sure what you mean, but if you carry a body around it will drop blood making you trackable also if you're tracking someone with food in your mouth you are able to be sniffed out and can be located or fled from. Walking around with food is like walking with a beacon on you.
this is what I mean when I say I love the immersion of the isle. if you learn the mechanics you can thrive, and if you dont... usually you end up reviewing the game as garbage because you didnt adapt lol
Ngl..... I personally just needed to smell once, and then like any person who has tracked before and hunted. Just using your intuition is enough lol Afterall, we humans are easier to predict when running in the bushes than most animals. And ingame, its actually kinda scary how easy it is to track people using simple real hunting techniques. For animals (Depending on what you're hunting), look to the horizon. For people, and especially in this game. Look up and down. Down for tracks, up to hiding spots. I also thought that the tracking system was pretty straightforward quite honestly. Its like Hunter:Call of the Wild lol
@@Kogasengaha_Hishoshi most the time I use hunting techniques, you’re right since they’re people you have to hunt them similar to people as they don’t do pure animal behavior. each carnivore has a different tracking lenght, for example Cera can smell tracks more far than carno

Correct thing for the carno to do shouldve been just
Run across the entire map
Because you can 100% do that as carno

so its like call of the wild but you gotta sniff it out lmao
3:30 the way this dino running reminds me of Take On Me by AHA 😂😂😂
I heard if the footprints don't show a direction (the cone) then it means the dinosaur is very near (likely hiding in a bush like what you saw)
Good info, I'll have to do some testing with it at some point to see if that's true
I feel dense as I kept wondering why I would randomly get ‘Q’ prompts on certain spots on the ground but didn’t really stop to investigate why 🤦♀️

How about tracking footprints with body in mouth? For example with a deer. Once your mate starts chewing then prey within 5 meters from you.
