My neighbors were in a concentration camp when they were in their early 20s. The Germans killed her family and she pretended to be passing the house. They grabbed her and threw her on the ground next to her dead brother and looked for a reaction. She said she didn’t know him.
They joined the Polish underground sabotaging German trucks and tanks but were caught.

My cousin is one of these people. He often talks about how all the Jews need to be destroyed, he buys Nazi memerobilia and other fascist related things. When I talk to him about the evidence he says it was all fabricated, when I asked about talking to those who survived he says " only the ones who were children are alive now and kids don't remember anything right" he didn't use to be like this but he has become someone so revolting.

And it's crazy anyone would deny such atrocities when there's plenty of film footage showing it all. Do they not see it? I don't understand such blind denial. The things my History class was shown in the 80's was enough to give many students PTSD for life. Once you see & hear all of that, you can't forget or deny.

@@Dark_Harmony we had three survivors come to our school and talk about it, I'll never forget the look on their faces as they recounted all the horrible things they endured. That's the problem with conspiracy theorists, they will discount anything that challenges their beliefs. Good people do not stand by and do nothing when horrors like this happen. Good people try to stop it any way they can, even if it cost them their lives - and many good people did loose their lives trying to stop it. • @johaquila
      @johaquila 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

Hmm, 'otherwise good'? Technically this may make sense as genocide is a biological phenomenon, but morally I don't think one should speak that way. The reason I say this is that 'otherwise good' technically applies not just to alternate versions of history, or to before and after, but also while the crimes are going on. There have been examples of people working in concentration camps but being 'otherwise good' at the same time. Hannah Arendt coined the term 'banality of evil' in this context.
The problem is that a population can be put into a genoc*dal frenzy. Basically that means a part of the population is no longer treated as humans, but as dangerous animals that must be exterminated. Treating some humans as animals may actually lead to treating the other humans _better._ It's not just humans, either. Similar things happen among chimpanzees.
Once a population is in this mode, trying to do something against it requires a lot of courage. Doing something effective and not getting yourself killed requires luck and ingenuity in addition to courage.

I was born right after WWII, I was born in Germany in a basement. My little mother was 15 yrs old. I was adopted by American parents during occupation. I was made a US citizen. then we moved to the USA. When I grew up, I trained to be a Certified nursing assistant. I took care of several Jewish people who were left from the death camps. One of the women was just one huge scar, I have no idea if she had been burned or beaten that way. I loved her. She was so sweet. She would call us "my heart". I loved helping those poor people. I am shocked myself at what happened to those poor people. Most normal German people hate what happened to the Jews. It was not the idea of normal citizens, it was the Evil of the third richt.

I think from memory of what I learned from school was the circumstances played a major part in how Hitler was able to go so far. After WWI Germany went through a hyperinflation where everything became extremely expensive. Hitler took advantage of people's desperations and scapegoated the Jewish and that's how so many people went along with it. Scapegoating is a technique politicians still use today as it is very affective. This is why it's very important to learn about the holocaust. A lot of people don't want to admit it but we're not far from having something like this happening again, especially as the holocaust is becoming less known.

It wasn't just jews, it was the Roma who were hunted near extintion in Europe. LBGT+, political prisoners, mentally ill, handicapped and political opponents. Basically anyone who didn't fit their criteria. The ironic thing is Aryan denotes people who live in the area between Iran and India, basically most of the -stan nations. Not exactly blond and blue eyed as Hitler insisted on. Caucasian refers to people from the Caucasus mountains, which Race biologists from the early 1900 suggesteded were the perfect humans, forming the racists beliefs of the Nazis. I don't like using the word caucasian to describe white people since it's inherently racists towards the people living in that region.

Stalin and Mao documentaries are a bit controversial, there are many people that come from these places or even lived in the same era when these two were leading, but have very different views about situations in their country. Some people who hate Communist Ideology would always use the so called victims of Stalin and Mao to say these two were worse then Hitler, but would ignore the people that said otherwise that also used to live under these two as well, that applies also with the anti Capitalist side as well, regarding issues that may not have been solved under Communism, but has under Capitalism, it just depends on which system you prefer and strongly are against. But in this instance, Hitler wanted to annihilate the Jewish race or anybody that he thought weren't a part of the Aryan race, Jews, Communist, Homosexuals, The Disabled and had to have blue eyes, therefore it not controversial that Hitler was indeed a mass murder, and he was more and willing to admit that to the world with his speeches and his so called Ideological theories. Regardless of what anybody's views are, Stalin and Mao should not be in any way, shape or form to be even considered to compare with Hitler.

@@carlox1266 That's true, Mao and Stalin were ideologically extreme to their nature, because Communism is obviously an extreme Leftist Political Doctrine that seeks to annihilated all the classes, that is true. But when we talk about people that have lived under a system and have praised it, like economic Industrialization for example, Western Historians have long claimed that it's theories sounded good but didn't work in practice, because Communism at the end of the day does strive for economic equality whether if you think it does or not, there are different views amongst the masses that live under that system.
While Hitler supporters or people that loved living under the Third Reich have an attitude of wanting to allow the mass killings of Disabled People, Communist, Unionist, Jews, Homosexuals ECT.

they see those claims as rubbish, that is where I'm getting at with Controversial part. Ask a Nazi about the holocaust and they would salute that as the shining light era of all Europe, they celebrate the deaths of millions of people because that was what it's ideology was based on.

Not sure PragerU is the best place to learn anything about anything, honestly. They have an unfortunate tendency of leaving out important details when discussing historical events. And have a fairly strong political bias that often color their presentation of facts.
This particular video does seem to at least cover the basics about what happened, but veers off a bit when going into explaining the "Why" of it - for example, Hitler did not hate Christianity, he was in fact highly religious and used Christianity as justification for Nazi atrocities - whether Hitler was a genuine believer, or simply used religious iconography for public support and propaganda purposes must be left to speculation at this point - but by all written accounts, he presented himself as Christian.
I strongly recommend looking up alternative sources for the full picture, and a slightly less biased explanation.

Hitler's record on Christianity was complicated and mixed. In Mein Kampf he invokes the name of Jesus and the Christian God to justify his anti-Judaism. He was baptised Catholic, and never renounced his baptism. He manipulated the Catholic church and other branches of Christianity, including concluding the "Reichskoncordat" with Pope Pius XII, with varying effects on the body count of the Holocaust. The Wehrmacht (Nazi infantry soldiers) wore belt buckles that said "GOTT MIT UNS" ("God With Us"). Some Christians did resist Hitler, and the armies that stopped him included a lot of Christians, but to say that Hitler hated Christianity, or vice versa, is a great oversimplification. Many, many Christians were already raised to be anti-Jew through centuries of Christian-on-Jew hatred, and participated willingly in the Holocaust.

What is happening to innocent Palestinian people today is as much of an unconscionable atrocity as what happened then, and should be stopped immediately.
