Everyone around knows how difficult it is to sing a Mariah song. Kelly is one of the very few artist nowadays that should even be allowed to sing a Mariah song! Bravo Kelly! Awesome!
I'm a Mariah fan from the beginning so when people cover her music I'm always a little biased, but Kelly did a fan-fucking-tastic job. MC is hard to do, especially old school MC, and girl did the damn thing.
I'm a lamb and at first I was worried because it seemed as though she chose a key that was too high for her, but Kelly quickly reminded me of how brilliant her voice was when she hit those high notes. I loved this, and you can tell Kelly loves Mariah.

kelly's falsetto parts were awesome... it's just the belts in the chorus and the modulation for the bridge that kelly couldn't handle . i'm sure if she lowered the key a little it would have been fine. mariah's songs, especially earlier songs are full from beginning to end with high chest belting. and then the bridge goes up even more. vocal suicide. but i love kelly singing mariah .

only when other singers attempt Mariah's songs do you realize how crazy their difficulty is, but when you see Mariah singing, they seem so easy, even now when her voice is not the same she still does these crazy songs much more easily than other singers. Kelly did a good job anyway.

I don’t think she was struggling with the song at all. The original studio version goes in and out of that falsetto/airy soft voice in the first verse then the second one it’s lets on more of a belt. The bridge goes right into the falsetto down to a low note in one breath(impressive I may add) then the chorus out is full on belt. Kelly plays with it just a tad in the beginning but then just sings her normal Kelly way. Kelly has a heavier voice when she belts and she brings so umph into it when she goes into the 5th Octave(not at all a technical term person sorry) I don’t think she struggles at all And not to mention she was having monitor issues. I like it. The acoustic down tempo just eats at my heart.
She's such a great singer, but Can't Let Go is just too hard for her as for anyone else. The climax was also too high!! There are some specific Mariah songs that shouldn't be even attempted, and Can't Let Go is one of those. But she did good anyway!

What some people forget is that this is a one off song request type deal. And it is live. You cannot compare this to Mariahs version that she has sang thousands of times. Kelly is THE BEST SINGER out there. Nobody else can do all genres like she can. Facts.
