      @Stephan Allen - So true, my friend. And in my case, that being a fact made even more ‘egregious’ to my ‘better half’ due to the fact that I have never once worn any of the 80 or so footie shirts I currently own either. 🤪

    On storing my shirts (I’m at over 200 now) -
    I use colored plastic hangers. Never use wire hangers, the metal can rust and stain the shirt and the thin wire can create a crease.
    I organize the shirts by type. National, UK, US, League, etc. Each type has a different color hanger. White, Black, Purple, Lavender, Pink, Lime Silver, Orange (for fakes), etc. This makes it easier to find a shirt when I’m digging through the closet(s).
    Each hanger gets a label (or more) from a labelmaker listing the Season, Team (Home, Away, Third), League, and Player name and number (if there is one). For shirts that I paid a lot for, I also attach a large envelope to the hanger with a name badge clip. Inside the envelope any pertinent info on the shirt such as cost, player info, Certificate of Authenticity. Or if the shirt is team signed, a list of the players who signed it.
    I also keep an inventory on my tablet, sync’d to my desktop, to try to avoid purchasing duplicates (doesn’t always work as planned).

    • @bert9554
      @bert9554 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      How much did you spent on the hangers?

    • @JKTritt
      @JKTritt 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bert9554 I used to get them for $8 / dozen or $45 / 72ct . But the retailer discontinued them during the pandemic, IDK if the manufacturer shut down or if it was a retail decision. I’ve been looking for an alternate source, but so far no luck. I’m hoping, without hope, that the retailer will stock them again soon. I was buying them as needed, I should have stocked up 😞
      BTW - A year later, I’m now at over 300 shirts. I’m almost out of hangers, and will have to come up with a new plan soon.

    I collect, but my rules are: The kit needs to have all of the patches (ex. PL Logo, EFL Logo), needs to be a name on the back (player) and the player has to be an unusual one. So ex my Liverpool-kit has Matip on the back. AND the most important thing: I need to buy the kit in the stadium, or supporter shop before or after I have watched a game at the stadium.

      My rules are rather simple, as well. No player names/numbers. That rule went the way of the Dodo bird once I turned say, about 15 years old. Love me some patches though, so the more the better, I always say. Whenever possible, I prefer shirts w/out sponsors, as well. Lastly, after getting burned buying a few shirts at local thrift shops here in Toronto-Canada (which unfortunately turned out to be fake replicas) unless a very hard to find & rare *AC Milan* shows up on eBay, every once in a blue moon, I will only buy my personal “grails” from *Classic Football Shirts* from now on.

    I've started collecting kits last year, now I have almost 30+ kits in me. My latest find is a Fluminense 2013 away kit, which I bought for PHP199 (about £3).
    I go to second hand stores (called ukay-ukay stores here in the Philippines) to buy kits. For now, I'm collecting old shirts but will plan to buy newer ones once I get a steadier job.
    Unfortunately, I ruined some of the shirt sponsors because we use an automatic washing machine (I live with a cousin rn). I reallly regret putting it on the dryer, and hopefully will do the washing myself soon.

      @@awaydaysfootball Ellis you not sticking to your own code. Your blowing your money on too many options. Vintage shirts, New shirts, Third Shirts, Nation shirts, club shirts, Vintage jumpers, Vintage t-shirts. Your never going to get to the finish line or have enough space for your collection. P.S i would hand wash the vintage shirts you paid big bucks for and worked so hard to get. Just incase a mishap in washing machine you will regret it. One of my rules no football shirts with names and number on. Why? One because when that players leaves your club does the dirty so to speak is not the same. Value and selling factor. Number and letters can get damaged wear and tear through washing and look shoddy. No name on shirt more people will want to buy if you decide to sell. Just easier to sell in my opinion they look better without i think it spoils a shirt especially if vintage. Last thing ONLY buy shirts no matter how rare or how much you want to own them in a size you can wear. So in your case medium/large mens only. A shirt you can wear after all that what football shirts are all about. Better to have the choice than not. Only pick up a smaller or large size if you can make money on it. Don't buy just for the sake of it. Maybe your taste's will change in time but its about quality now not quantity and I'm sure jody will agree :)

    I´ve started my collection about three years ago and have a little more than 110 shirts by now, athough some of them are fake. But I don´t mind that to be honest. It´s just fun to collect!

    In regards to washing shirts: the coldest setting is key but i would add avoid putting them in the dryer.

    i have been collecting retro football shirts. i have around 500 shirts, most of them retro and for yong guy the biggest problem is price. i spend all my money on retro shirts, sometimes i tell to someone that i will buy one shirt although i havent any money at that moment. Maybe in the future it will be better but now i am happy that i have for example leeds 83, poland matchworn 90, man utd 90, germany 90 and lots of other retro

    Couple questions. How do you actually find a shirt that you want to get? Like Ellis has shirts of teams I dont even know. How does he find them. Also how do you decide on your Holy Grail shirts. Also is their shirts that are bad if you like them.

    I'm a great collector of shirts. I have a bit of retros with a Roma's shirt of 1987/1988 season and new one. I have some fake like Cienciano or Alianza Lima, but for the simple fact that in my travel in Perù I didn't had the opportunity to buy them original and some other Peruvian websites ask your personal information like Walon( a Peruvian shirt producer). I have also one from Myanmar from Warrix(Thailandese shirt producer) , but the code is wrote in Burmese so I can't understand it all.

    I only collect jerseys to replace my boring and dull regular t shirts, not gonna sell them btw. I only collect home jersey because they're very awesome to me. So far I only have 1 jersey and that's Messi's Argentina jersey from 2022 World Cup. Also it doesn't have to be a player version since they're expensive and football isn't popular in my country so they wouldn't even tell the differences between fake and real. Also who would even order from a store with 4 week delivery, that's way too long, an overseas order from Shopee isn't longer than 12 days, that's where I brought my jersey.
